  1. Yeah, and blowing them up! But I think these "Build and Play" kits are the first time a kit was marketed specifically as a toy to be played with instead of a scale model "hobby" kit.
  2. In fact, some snap kits, like the Revell "Build and Play" 2015 Mustang GT, are actually marketed to kids as toys, not scale hobby kits. The box art has a picture of a little kid on it who looks to be about 7 years old, and the words Build and Play are right under "SnapTite"... obviously the point is to emphasize that after you build it, you play with it. From Revell's website: Now, this SnapTite® Build & Play kit calls to the youngest of those generations. It's designed to be easy to build and fun to play with. It's the start of a whole new approach to plastic modeling. It's a kit designed to do more than sit on a shelf. It's designed for fun.
  3. Garry Shandling. Massive heart attack. 66 years old. Sheesh...

Bruce... thanks for keeping the forum rules in mind...
  5. Carl... OMG! I can't believe that I totally overlooked Bryan Adams! I love "Summer of '69!" My all-time favorite Bryan Adams song. A close second... "Cuts Like a Knife." An absolutely killer live version from Live Aid 1985...
  6. If anyone would do it, my money is on Moebius. Round 2 is too busy reissuing 50-year old kits in new boxes with useless miniature "collector boxes" inside... old, old kits at today's prices... Moebius, on the other hand, is busy releasing all-new kits of cars that have never been kitted before. It's Moebius that's on the cutting edge of the hobby.
  7. Very nice work on the grille painting and detailing.
  8. Wow! That is some very impressive work.
  9. Yeah, I love those "live in the studio" moments. Coincidentally... "And Your Bird Can Sing" is probably my favorite Beatles song of all.
  10. I knew somebody would mention Rush. But OMG... Geddy Lee's voice? Yeesh! Nails on a chalkboard are less annoying!
  11. Your guy's guesses are as good as anyones! Here is some interesting info on this locomotive, courtesy of wikipedia... In 1802, (Richard) Trevithick built one of his high-pressure steam engines to drive a hammer at the Pen-y-Darren Ironworks in Merthyr Tydfil, Mid Glamorgan . With the assistance of Rees Jones, an employee of the iron works and under the supervision of Samuel Homfray, the proprietor, he mounted the engine on wheels and turned it into a locomotive. In 1803, Trevithick sold the patents for his locomotives to Samuel Homfray. Homfray was so impressed with Trevithick's locomotive that he made a bet with another ironmaster, Richard Crawshay, for 500 guineas that Trevithick's steam locomotive could haul ten tons of iron along the Merthyr Tydfil Tramroad from Penydarren (51°45′03″N 3°22′33″W) to Abercynon (51°38′44″N 3°19′27″W), a distance of 9.75 miles (16 km). Amid great interest from the public, on 21 February 1804 it successfully carried 10 tons of iron, 5 wagons and 70 men the full distance in 4 hours and 5 minutes, an average speed of approximately 2.4 mph (3.9 km/h).[16] As well as Homfray, Crawshay and the passengers, other witnesses included Mr. Giddy, a respected patron of Trevithick and an 'engineer from the Government'.[17] The engineer from the government was probably a safety inspector and particularly interested in the boiler's ability to withstand high steam pressures.
  12. Greg... my comments were not directed at you. They were meant for Phirewriter.
  13. PS: Just in case anyone's interested... My favorite Tragically Hip song is "Locked in the Trunk of a Car" from the Fully Completely album. Their best album by far. There's a word in the lyrics that's not allowed here... but do a youtube search. It's a great song... maybe their best one ever. Don't forget to turn the volume to 11...
  14. Anybody that gets 90 years on this planet has gotten their money's worth.
  15. Geez, you sure are assuming a lot about me. Don't remember ever saying that the only social experience I want is "hiding" behind a keyboard. That's your distorted view of me. And seeing as how you and I have never met and you have no idea about anything about me, that's a pretty big stretch. Why the need to bash me because I don't agree with your view?
  16. Oh! What a brain fart! Forgot Gordon Lightfoot. One of the all-time greats in the folk-rock genre and still going strong. So many great songs... too many to list. He's a national treasure. But my favorite...
  17. Yup, Steppenwolf was formed in Toronto, so even though all the members aren't Canadian (John Kay was born in Germany, for instance)... technically a Canadian band. Forgot about that. Put them in my list of favorite Canadian bands. Also Joni Mitchell. Forgot her, too!
  18. Nice story. And very admirable of you to help sis out like that.
  19. Has to be a reproduction, the real thing is long gone.
  20. Nicely done... but it looks to me to be riding a bit high in the back.
