  1. I have no idea, but is sure is cute!
  2. Different strokes for different folks, I guess... and if you want to use some sort of "home brew" foil, more power to ya! But considering how well BMF works, I really see no need to re-invent the wheel.
  3. I like White Castle, but the nearest one is about 5-6 miles away. The BK is right down the street.
  4. In general, very nicely done. But you ran the side stripes right over the door panel lines. Obviously this wouldn't be the case in real life. You should have cut the stripes where they cross the door panel lines and used decal setting solution to get the cut ends to snuggle down into those panel lines. It's not too late to still do that.
  5. Very nice. Super clean and crisp. Very nicely done!
  6. The photo you posted is 72dpi, which is ok for onscreen, but for print, you need a much higher resolution photo (300dpi). You won't get a decent decal from this photo. The right way to do this is to open a new Illustrator file, import this photo into it, lock the photo, then trace around the stripes using the Illustrator drawing tools. Then size the stripes to fit the model, unlock the photo and delete it, leaving you with just the stripes drawn in Illustrator. Copy and paste the stripes so you have a set for both sides, then print it out on clear decal paper.
  7. Well, here I sit at 3AM due to my sciatica acting up again… can't sleep because of the pain, so I may as well take this time to fire off a rant while I'm in a bad mood. I don't eat fast food very often, but the other night (yes, another sciatica-induced sleepless one), I had a craving for a Whopper… something I hadn't had in years. So I drove to the nearest 24 hour BK and ordered a Whopper and small fries. That's all. One Whopper and one order of small fries. I almost had a heart attack when the drive-thru voice gave me the total… almost seven dollars! And that's with no drink. I'm no dinosaur, but I remember when you could feed a family of four at a fast food joint for 7-8 bucks! In fact I remember the McDonald's commercial where they talked about buying a burger, fries, and a drink… and getting change back from your dollar! I realize that prices go up over time, and I don't expect a Whopper to sell for 99¢ in 2016... but $7 for a fast food burger and fries seems pretty steep. At these prices, you'll spend forty bucks feeding a family of four at a fast food restaurant!
  8. I got it back! It turns out my Firefox profile was right where it was supposed to be, even though I kept getting an error message that my profile was "lost." So I went and deleted my Firefox profile, then downloaded and installed a fresh version of Firefox, forcing it to create a new profile... as if I had never used Firefox before. And it worked. I will never understand this computer stuff.
  9. Anything that makes what you did more clear to the audience is perfectly legit. Yeah, I don't need the visual aids, but I'm sure there are plenty of guys who appreciate your very thorough explanations.
  10. What a beautiful car.
  11. Door fit looks very nice. Your hard work has paid off.
  12. I would have gone with body color side-view mirrors.
  13. You can hardly go wrong for fourteen bucks!
  14. Not really a fan of your color choices (I would have gone with red and white)... but other than my personal color preferences, a super nice, clean model. Nice job.
  15. I wanted to work on my Fiat Mefistofele today, but I needed some brass rod to make fuel lines, but didn't have the correct diameter on hand. Normally I would order the stuff online, but I really wanted to work on the engine today, so I figured I'd head out to Hobbytown USA and pick up some of the diameter rod I needed. Not the Hobbytown closest to my house, but the one that is usually well-stocked. So I get there, and the K&S display rack is more than half empty. And you guessed it, the size I needed was one of the ones not there. Ok, so I go plan B, which is to head over to the other local HBUSA that's actually closer to my house. Same deal. The K&S display rack at this HBUSA is also more than half empty, and you guessed it... the size I needed wasn't there. Pretty frustrated now, but I was determined to come home with the brass rod I needed, and not to have wasted the entire morning. So I went to the local Hobby Lobby, and yes, the K&S rack was full, and they had what I needed. After three stores I finally found what I was looking for. Should have just gone to HL in the first place. The moral of the story: Shouldn't it be someone's JOB to keep tabs on stock and reorder as needed? There's nothing more frustrating than driving to a brick and mortar hobby shop and finding the display rack more empty than full. Is it any wonder I prefer to shop online?
  16. That looks real good!
  17. Very impressive work. You, sir, have some talent.
  18. Beautiful car, beautiful model. Well done!
  19. Here's a real Oreo conspiracy. "New" Oreo "thins." Same great taste, half the size. But I doubt they'e half the price!
  20. I was going to say exactly that. Looks good "showroom stock," but with your weathering skills I'm sure it'll turn out to be another killer model. Nobody here builds tanks better than you do. Every one is a masterpiece.
  21. This is a long thread, so maybe it was already mentioned, but my votes are for the "Gold Cup" series of classics, and the Monogram '59 Cadillac.
  22. I think this is day three working on the engine, and I'm getting very close to finishing it. Here you can see the K&S brass rod I posted in the previous photo used to make some fuel and oil lines. Still more lines to come (especially on the exhaust side of the engine)... but it's getting close and looking good, IMO. Because of the way the kit is engineered, the exhaust manifold and tailpipe assembly have to be glued together as one piece and then wrapped in insulation, so they can't be installed until the engine is mounted in the chassis and the body is in place. That's why the exhaust manifold is still not installed at this point.
  23. Wow, you are one lucky guy to own a Viper! I could only dream about owning a car that expen$$$$ive! Very nice looking model, too.
  24. In yet another spectacularly boneheaded decision (like engineering the parts trees so the ejector pin marks are on the facing side of the parts), Italeri supplies some rolled up copper wire to make the fuel lines. Two problems: One, it's almost impossible to take sections of this copper wire and make it perfectly straight to make the fuel lines, and two, the car used brass fuel lines. So why not supply a few lengths of straight brass rod instead of a rolled up mess of copper wire? I will replace the copper wire with some K&S brass rod...
  25. In the case of the Nice incident, the "weapon" of choice was a Renault truck. Do we now ban Renault trucks? The world is going crazy, fast. We need leadership, but we don't have it. There's no way that a rag-tag group of maniacs should be able to wreak havoc in the US, England, France, Turkey, etc. It's ridiculous that we have let them get so far. Absolutely ridiculous. Sorry, I know that's getting awfully close to the area of politics, so I didn't name any names. But man oh man, how much more of this crap is the civilized world supposed to take without fighting back?
