  1. Actually it's Sherry darling... [media=]
  2. Very cool indeed. How many guys can say they played a game of baseball on a major league ball field?
  3. And I love you too, big guy...
  4. I used to have a lot of Tonka trucks when I was a kid. The big ones. I sure wish I still had them!
  5. Very simple. It makes it easier for people to find what they are interested in. It's like the library analogy I always make... you can put all the books on the shelves in random order, because they're all books. But if you're interested in a particular book, good luck finding it! Same idea with the separate "Under Glass" categories. It just makes it easier to find stuff, because you know up front where to look.
  6. The whole point of this section is to have a place to post metal models!
  7. I have a feeling a lot of these old toys are worth some serious cash as collectibles. Repaint them or do anything to alter their "originality" and their value is gone.
  8. Wow! That is an unbelievable makeover! Fantastic work!
  9. Why do I get the feeling that if you were King of the World we'd all still be riding horses, living in log cabins and churning our own butter...
  10. Sorry, but the only "real" Batmobile is the '60s TV version. And the coolest, by far. (Just my opinion, of course...)
  11. The basic problem now is that some people post finished NASCAR and drag cars in "Under Glass," while others post them in either NASCAR or drag. So basically you have NASCAR and drag cars posted in different places (their own specific sections and sometimes in the general "Under Glass" section). By creating a separate "Under Glass" section specifically for Street, Stock, Show and Custom, and a second one for Competition, in theory at least, all the finished competition cars would have one home, and all the finished street/non-racing models would have their own home. That's the reasoning behind my idea. Ok... continue voting and commenting...
  12. Yes, I did get one from you...
  13. As you all know by now, the forum has been rearranged. The hope is that most of you guys find the new arrangement a little easier to navigate and that it makes a little more sense to have the various categories arranged this way rather than the way they were before. Now I want to "fine tune" things a bit and try to make this place even better. I'm thinking of eliminating the separate "NASCAR" and "Drag" categories, and incorporating whatever is posted there now into one of three categories: On the Workbench-Basically unchanged, all "in progress" car models, no matter what the subject, would belong here. Under Glass: Stock, Street, Show, Custom Under Glass: Competition (NASCAR, Indy, Drag, F1, etc.) Doing this would eliminate the current "NASCAR" and "Drag" categories. Please vote and/or let me hear your feedback.
  14. I wonder if you've ever paid any attention to what some of these old toys are worth to collectors? Obviously, you are free to do whatever you want to do, and if that means reworking old pressed steel toys, that's perfectly fine. But I have seen several instances on "Antiques Roadshow" where toys very similar to the ones you rework were worth thousands! And of course, repainting them or in any way altering their originality instantly takes away any collectible value they may have. Again... I'm not saying that what you're doing is wrong. I'm just curious if the potential value of the toys as collectibles is something you've ever considered.
  15. That's the way to do it. Doesn't mater if the paint is acrylic or enamel or anything else. Just run some hot water over the cap for 30-60 seconds. The metal cap will expand more than the glass bottle will, and the cap will come right off.
  16. The record holder isn't here anymore, if you catch my drift.

  18. No doubt it's a real photo. It's the relative scale of the model and the quarter that's suspect...
  19. Any Photoshop trickery going on in that last photo?
  20. I managed to raise three kids as a single parent... got through those rough waters (their teenage years) relatively ok... no permanent damage to either me or any of my three stooges... So now that they're all grown up, out of the house, and paying their own bills (yay!)... I look forward to taking every Father's Day off!
  21. Very nice... cool Falcon!
  22. When the car gets dirty, all you do is snap off the "bodywork" and throw it in the washer. Then in the dryer with a fabric softener sheet and your bodywork is not only clean, but springtime fresh!
  23. Remember, don't post any hints or answers here! PM me with year, make and model. The answer: 1960s? Velorex Oskar
