  1. I don't know what specific research Moebius used to help them decide to bring the Hudson to market, but from all I've ever heard and read on forums regarding a Hudson kit, I'd say this subject is VERY much wanted by a large number of modelers. And as far as whether or not it's "ugly," well, that's strictly a personal opinion. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I think it's a pretty cool looking car.
  2. Beautiful! And just think... the production kit will be even better than this!
  3. Looks good, nice work on the folding top, but that black stripe???
  4. Not a whole lot here to criticize! You did a nice job.
  5. I'm not sure what a "finched" Corvette is ( a bird got caught in the radiator, maybe??? )... but aside from that I think it looks pretty good, except for the paint being a bit rough. It's probably too late to polish the paint now that the model is all done, but keep it mind for the next one you build. Polishing the body after you paint it, but before you assemble the model, will give you a nice smooth, glossy finish and will take care of any irregularities like the orange peel you have in your Corvette's paint. You can use either a polishing kit made specifically for models, or "real car" compounds and polishes from the auto parts store.
  6. The problem is, no matter how carefully you document everything, and even if you do manage to find an insurance company who will agree to insure your models, you know what'll happen: Once you make a claim, watch your rates zoom upward! They don't ever want to lose money on a claim... for every claim they pay out somebody gets their rate jacked up to cover the payout, and then some. The insurance industry is one of those "can't lose" businesses.
  7. Nice.
  8. Listen Mr. Grumpy pants... I didn't do anything to this photo... it's exactly as I found it. Did somebody do some Photoshopping? Obviously. The background has been blurred. But as far as I can see the truck itself hasn't been touched.
  9. Axl? Maybe you should tell him he ought to try starting up a band...
  10. Using O-rings for the airbags is a cool idea.
  11. When you draw the panel lines in with black on top of the final paint coat the result is cartoonish and very unrealistic. In the real world panel lines are NOT 100% black. You only get absolute black if there's no atmosphere to look through... like on the moon. On Earth, shadows (and panel lines) are never pure black. I read about this method on one of zoom zoom's posts, and judging by what I've seen of his work, the result is very realistic. I'm paraphrasing here, but basically what he does is paint the body, then draw the panel lines in with black ink... and then he sprays a couple of color coats over the top (I'm talking airbrush here), but with the paint cut 50/50 with clear. The result is that the final diluted color coats cover the black panel lines just enough to knock back the stark blackness, but still leave them a realistic shade or two darker than the overall color. Simple and effective. No muss, no fuss, no fooling with scribers, sanding, etc., and great results. That's the kind of technique I like!
  12. I've never seen or heard of this car, and now that I see it I have to say I'm not a fan of the actual car... but HOLY ######! John, you are a master craftsman. Your modeling skills are off the charts! I don't know how you do it, but I am very impressed.
  13. A trick??? Moi????!!!
  14. How about this one? Real or model? Don't post any hints or answers here... the answer: REAL!
  15. Did I say Stairway to Heaven? My bad... I meant, ummm.... uh... When the Levee Breaks. Yeah, yeah, When the Levee Breaks, that's the ticket.
  16. One day I got a call from an old buddy... a musician. He told me he was trying to write a song for his band's new album but he was having writer's block. I told him not to worry... I'd try and help him out. The next day I called him up and told him that I had thrown something together, and that he could have it, no credit to me necessary–a favor for a friend. It was a little rough around the edges but I told him maybe the band could make it work. He thanked me and said he and his "mates" would give it a shot... so I mailed it off to him. A few months later I got an advance copy of their new album, and I have to admit that they had done a pretty good job on "Stairway to Heaven"...
  17. Kind of a bold signature line, no?

  20. Nice! I emailed Gregg, just in case he didn't see this.
