  1. Chuck, this is so cool. I can't wait to see how everything turns out when all things are completed. Guitars & Cases, Amps. Drum Set......WOW. I'd be in for all of it. Let's see... then you'll need keyboards, either a Piano or a Hammond B3 would be cool... then some Horns, at least a Sax. Microphones and stands... Effects pedals... I think most of us can handle supplying our own wires & "cables"...LOL I can see a LOT of dioramas coming down the road with this stuff. One band that I was in way back in the late 70's had a beat up old white van that we used to haul all of our equipment in... we packed that thing and the rear springs were screaming
  2. Chuck, let us know when those Bass Guitars will be available. I used to own a Fender Jazz Bass and currently have a Fender Precision Bass. I'm interested.
  3. That looks really sharp Bruce, great job.
  4. Yep, that is a great casting. Maybe some day one of our resin casters will make something of this quality.
  5. Those are great pictures Jean-Jacques, thanks for sharing them with us.
  6. Bruce, that really looks great. I love the color.
  7. While I'm not really a cat lover, I do think the cat & it's tail are pretty cool. Great imagination..!!
  8. Jean-Jacques, that is a beautiful model and yes, it was great to be able to see it in person at the NNL East show.
  9. Bayshore Hobbies is in a shopping center off the eastbound Service Road of Sunrise Hwy. before Islip Ave. http://www.hobbystores.com/bayshore/
  10. Gary and Steve, I wholeheartedly agree with you both about the beauty and styling of cars in the 1950's. Hence my desire to build every American manufacturers car for each year of the 50's. I've got quite a few done already but I have a long way to go. Keep up the great work.
  11. That looks pretty cool.
  12. Al, that is a gorgeous Caddy. Makes you want to kiss that car..!! I just started working on a '58 Lincoln that I picked up from Modelhaus for my "Class of '58".
  13. Geeze... you must be getting old Bill. The 90's were "only" 20 or so years ago...LOL
  14. Although I haven't been there in a long time I think Dave passed away. I don't have any idea what happened to the store or the inventory that was in it.
  15. Yeah you're right about Bayshore Hobbies having almost anything you'd want...... if you could find it, or get to it..!! My first house was in West Islip on Oakneck Rd. and the second one only 3 blocks away on Babe Ruth St. I moved to western PA in December of 2006 because it just got too expensive to live there anymore. The taxes on our high ranch home on a quarter acre hit $10K per year and we said "outta here". It's much cheaper living here in PA.
  16. Mike, I usually don't always wire my model engines in the correct firing order. I just decided to post these diagrams to help anyone who may like to or want to do that.......... just trying to be helpful here.
  17. So far I've only bought 2 cars as builtups... One from EBAY which was a "paintbomb" - a '59 Lincoln convertible that looked like it was painted with Black driveway sealer using a roller. It went into the paint stripper and will be redone for my "Class of '59". The second is a '58 Imperial I got at a show that was unpainted, but had all the scoops, louvers, skirts, mirrors, spots and antenna's glued on it. I removed all that stuff and sanded off the glue globs and filled in all the holes and divots. It will be redone for my "Class of '58". I can appreciate those who want to preserve the "history" but at the moment I'm not into that.
  18. Thanks a lot Bill, I appreciate your help on this. I was just going back into my Fotki to try to do that.
  19. I found these sheets in a pile of reference pictures and paperwork and thought it might help anyone who likes to wire their model engines in the correct firing order. Enjoy... http://images51.fotki.com/v303/photos/9/3018309/12963096/001738x1024-th.jpg http://images16.fotki.com/v388/photos/9/3018309/12963096/002741x1024-th.jpg Sorry.... they're way too small to see. I've got to figure out how to enlarge them.
  20. Michael, this model is looking just awesome. The detailing is great and the overall look of the model in black with the whitewalls is perfect. I can't wait to see this finished. The subtheme for next year's NNL East is "Professional Vehicles" or Hearses and your model would fit in perfectly. Great job so far.
  21. Mike, when I lived on Long Island (West Islip/Bayshore) we (LIARS Club) used to call Bayshore Hobbies "Robber Bob's". The owner, Bob, sits on a stool behind the counter and barely acknowledges customers when they enter the store. The place is PACKED with car and truck models, military models, ships and planes and train stuff. He has aftermarket stuff and Plastruct and Evergreen stock, paints, glues, brushes, etc... very well stocked ALMOST FROM FLOOR TO CEILING. You have a tough time reaching models because the kits are stacked 3 deep on the floor up to eye level in front of the shelves which are also full. Don't bother asking Bob for help, or any other questions, as he doesn't budge off that stool..!!! His prices are "up there" which is why we called it "Robber Bob's".
  22. I'd wait at least a day or 2 after the colorcoats before spraying a clearcoat.
  23. Great job Steve. Nice work in the engine compartment.
  24. David Gilmour's solo on Comfortably Numb has to be one of THE BEST guitar solo's ever IMHO.
