  1. How'd you like to have a Garage like this one..?? Ed Brown's Auto Shop, Apollo, PA (about 40 miles east of Pittsburgh ). Take note of all the artifacts along the walls of the shop. CLICK HERE
  2. Yesterday I spent almost 7 hours applying, burnishing and trimming the BMF on this car..!! What a bear of a job! It came out pretty good in the end. There are still a couple of small paint touchups to do and then I can start on final assembly. Thanks for following along. Additional updates to come as they happen.
  3. Great job Peter. I love the way you did Norm's car.
  4. Harry, that is just gorgeous. Fantastic job.
  5. Richard, I have been following along as you have been building these dioramas and they are absolutely awesome. Your attention to detail is wonderful. Re the movie that you made...... I don't know what I like better, the movie, or the accompanying Blues music... That harp player was GREAT...!!! I have been a fan and player of the Blues for many years (I play Bass). Thanks for such an entertaining post here.
  6. Congratulations to her, and to you Ray. I'm sure that, as a good daughter who becomes a successful lawyer, she will pay you back every penny, in more ways than one.
  7. Larry, that car is outstanding. Your engine compartment and interior detail is fabulous. Great job.
  8. I don't have pictures to post yet, because I'm still waiting to receive the following EBAY scores that I made this week. I got all of them for either bargain or very, very reasonable prices. All of these fit very nicely into my 1950's cars build mission, and we don't see these built up very often, if at all, on this Forum or at shows. 1955 Buick Century diecast by Maisto in 1/26 scale. It is the old Highway Patrol TV show car that Broderick Crawford drove, but I will obviously redo it "my way". 1954 Dodge resin kit in 1/25 scale. I don't yet know the mfgr. of this kit, which comes with the Pace Car decals, but, again I will obviously do it up "my way". 1951 Studebaker Commander by Johnny Lightning in 1/24 scale. I will also redo this one. 1959 Chrysler New Yorker Johan Promo in 1/25 scale. Ditto for this one too for "my way". My "TO DO PILE" just keeps on growing.
  9. Great job on that Poncho Jim. Did you at least make some $$ on that project..??
  10. John, you had a '59 Dodge promo and now you have this Infiniti...!!! Is there anything you DON'T have in your stash...??? LOL. Maybe you should compete with EBAY.
  11. I was a Sophomore in High School, in History class, and when the announcement came over the school's PA system, we were all shocked and the teacher, Mr. Newman, was visibly shaken and started to cry. When I got home from school I told my stepfather who didn't believe that the President was shot until I turned on the TV. For almost a week there was nothing else on TV but the assassination story. I was lucky to have seen JFK live when he was campaigning in The Bronx, NY.
  12. Welcome to our plastic playground Jeff. Getting out of hand..?? I'm wondering if this Forum might run out of room with all the new people joining up...LOL. Hopefully most of the newbies will subscribe to the magazine too. (Please lets NOT have this statement of mine turn into a negative vibe for subscribing by all the naysayers.)
  13. Tom, you're absolutely right, it IS sad. If my budget is tight I won't bid on anything (and it seems like those are the times that the item I watch, even though I don't bid on it, will sell for a $20 or $30 price, but if I had bid on it it would go up by 2 or 3 times that price) When I lose a bid on something I would really like to have, I don't lose any sleep over it believe me. I know that at some point down the road another one of those items will come up for auction and I'll try again. As James Duff said above, in my case, I don't care a bit about anything but a car from the 1950's that I don't already have.
  14. More fantastic details Harry. I love it.
  15. Bruce, that Imperial looks great, I love it. Thanks for the nod to my "Class of '59". So far I've only built 3 cars from '59 (Chevy, Dodge and this same Imperial kit.) Forgive me, but I'm not trying to hijack your thread here. The '59 Imperial that I built a couple of years ago was what I called my "Pimperial". It was done up to look sort of ...... a little different. Here's a pic. It was a totally fun, tongue-in-cheek project. I like the looks of your's better.
  16. I only started buying models on EBAY this past September and so far I've picked up almost a dozen cars for my 1950's builds that I would never have gotten as cheaply from vendors at model shows, even with shipping costs included. I've found promo's, old builtups and a couple of interesting diecast kits that fit right into the 50's theme. Of course if you let yourself get carried away and try to buy everything you see you're going to wind up with no money left for your budgeted expenses. Plus, you've got to set a limit for yourself on how much you're willing, or can afford, to bid and spend on a particular item. Common sense and restraint should obviously rule here, unless of course you've got very deep pockets.
  17. That is one great looking Hot Rod Uelder. Fine job.
  18. Robert, that is one sweet looking Hot Rod. Great job.
  19. Thanks Greg. Yeah, after I had built 3 of the cars from 1958 I decided that I would try to build as many of the 58's as I could. Then it progressed to other 50's years cars until I committed to try to build them all.
  20. I usually strings some lights in the front window and on the front porch along with a wreath on the front door and a red bow on the outside yard light pole. Then of course there are all the inside decorations around the living and dining rooms. We usually don't start decorating until early December.
  21. Thank you very much Mark and Greg. Greg, I am attempting to do a "Class of" build for every car that I can find for every year of the 1950's. I'm using either plastic kits, promo's, resin or diecast kits. I know that it is an ambitious project and will take me awhile to complete, but I'm enjoying the heck out of doing it so far. I love all the cars from the 50's and how the styles changed from year to year. Plus they had all that chrome...!!! I will eventually be posting group pictures for each "Class" as I get enough of each year's cars completed. Here's how the tally adds up at the moment; 1950 - 0 built. 1951 - 1 built 1952 - 0 built 1953 - 3 built 1954 - 0 built 1955 - 2 built 1956 - 6 built 1957 - 1 built 1958 - 9 built 1959 - 3 built I have 17 more for those years in my "pile" yet to build and A LOT more still to buy and build.... and this doesn't include Corvettes and Thunderbirds...!!! As you can see, I'll be busy for awhile working on this extensive project.
  22. You paint your model and invariably the one piece of schmutz that lands on it will be right smack dab in the middle of either the hood, the roof or the trunk where it is most noticeable...!!!
  23. Yeah John, I think at some point the car was repainted (obviously not by me.) The hood ornament was removed and the holes filled in, plus, when an old guy who was visiting neighbors across the street backed into the driver's door, the thick paint chips showed a lighter color underneath the mustardy color. I'm sure I'll find something close to what was on the car eventually. Re Tom's wagon, he's been building a lot of models for SA's model review section and hasn't had a lot of time to put in on his own stuff. He'll get back to it eventually.
  24. Great looking model Jay, and nice work on the interior. I'm sure that George will love it.
  25. The bubbling problem with the Testors rattle can paints, especially the One Coat Lacquers, is the reason why I gave all of them away to a friend and only use either Duplicolor or Tamiya paints on my models. Occasionally I'll use Model Master lacquers, but I gave up on the Testors paints. I got the bubbling problem with every color that I tried using.
