  1. I guess they weren't a bad deal, but I think you might have been able to find the '60 Ford AMT kit cheaper, although it's not a Galaxie.
  2. Thanks guys. John and Tom, I still haven't made up my mind whether or not to just glue the doors shut. I originally thought about making better metal hinges but didn't. I'm not sure about going the magnet route either. The problem with the doors on these kits is, not only don't they usually stay closed, but, when they're opened, they usually sag because of the crappy hinges. I'm leaning towards the "glue them shut" option.
  3. You can either use the polishing cloths in a polishing kit, or, try using Novus 2 Plastic Polish.
  4. That's a nice looking car John.
  5. Thanks George and Donald. Today I'm working on polishing up the clearcoat and taking care of a couple of small touch-ups. Iwon't be getting to the BMF work on this until at least Monday as we're going to VA to visit my 2 1/2 year old grandson. He called the other night (actually my daughter called) and A.J. told me to bring my glue to fix the snap kit pickup I gave him.... He says he "bwoke it."
  6. Wow, that's pretty Al. Great job.
  7. Carl that Elky is beautiful.... and that paint job is just fantastic..!!!
  8. Thanks very much everyone, I appreciate all of your encouraging comments. Sam, I also made a continental kit deck from sheet plastic for this car. I bought the connie chrome wheel ring and covers from Modelhaus (They'll sell the chrome ring and front & rear covers for $5.... I bought 6 sets to have for future builds). I'm also using the Merc wagon taillights as you did. I love the pink & white colors on your car. Robert, I DO love detailing my model interiors.
  9. Nice looking Chevy Kevin.
  10. Nice work Al. That's an interesting color scheme.
  11. Thanks guys. You're right John, I confess... I'm just a model building fool. Hey, I've got to do something constructive with my time...!!!
  12. The body, doors and hood have been painted and clearcoated. They are all placed together and mocked up on the completed chassis for these pictures. Things will obviously look a lot neater once everything is all polished out and the BMF work is done. I completed work on the interior. The carpet and rear tray are flocked in dark blue and the seats and door panels are painted blue with white inserts. I added some BMF trim and resin cranks and handles which are painted chrome silver. The dash is painted body color and detailed with BMF, gauge faces from BestModelCarParts covered with clear epoxy for lenses, and dots of black paint for the knobs. Hopefully tomorrow I can polish out the car and then put on the BMF. Thanks for following along on this build and stay tuned for additional updates.
  13. Casey, you're doing some great work on this project. It is really looking good.
  14. Welcome aboard Norman.
  15. Welcome aboard Wayne.
  16. Nice color choice Carl. Good job.
  17. Welcome to our plastic playground Amanda.
  18. Welcome to our plastic playground Tuomas.
  19. That is a cool project James. I also picked one of these up on EBAY and it is in the pile to be worked on when I get around to my "Class of '59" builds.
  20. That is really looking great.
  21. Johann that sure is looking good. Re your earlier comments about this kit's engine, when I built the Lowrider "Bomb" I substituted the engine and chassis from one of the '37 Ford kits which worked perfectly since both kits are 1/24 scale. If it's not too late maybe you can at least try the engine swap from the '37 Ford kit. I'd hate to see you not use your chassis after all the work you've done on it.
  22. Yes indeed, Norm Veber is one of the nicest people you'll ever know. His products and service are exceptional. He has been a friend for about 15 years.
  23. That should be a great show, he's a great Bluesman.
