  4. Thanks for your continuing hard work to keep this Forum running smoothly and efficiently Dave. Happy New Year to you.
  5. I'd like to wish all of my fellow modelers and Forum members and staff a very Happy, Healthy, productive, Prosperous and Safe New Year. I for one am hoping to have a more productive and prolific year in completing models. This year was my least productive in decades, mostly due to my own lack of inspiration and motivation. I have so very many models in my TO DO pile, as I'm sure everyone else does too. May we all stay healthy and have more time at our hobby benches.
  6. Bare Metal Foil is the way to go for most chrome trim. Lately Molotow "Liquid Chrome" ink markers are the new kid on the block mostly for chroming interior cranks, door handles, horn rings, vent window uprights, etc...
  7. Same to you Greg, and also to all my fellow modelers and Forum members.
  8. Welcome to our plastic playground Richie. I'm an ex-Long Islander......used to live in West Islip. Left because of the ridiculously high R.E. taxes. If you're interested in a model club there on LI, look up the L.I.A.R.S. club (Long Island Auto Replica Society) They meet on the 3rd Thursday of every month at 7:30 PM at the Henrietta Acampora Senior Center in Blue Point.

  12. I'm hoping that everyone was able to get at least close to everything that they wanted from Modelhaus...... Now their website is officially CLOSED. I'm glad that I placed my final order with them when I did early last year for several kits and parts...... I got a '50 Nash, a '57 Desoto, a '57 Lincoln, a '59 Oldsmobile, and '56 Plymouth interior pieces. It took over 8 months to get it all, but it was well worth the wait. I thank Don and Carol for their excellent products and service over the 30 years they'd been in business, and, I wish them all good happiness, health, and peace in their retirement...... they've earned it.
  13. Welcome to our plastic playground Brian.
  14. Welcome to our plastic playground Gary...... and that's a heckuva snowbear you've got there...!!!
  15. I'll be 72 in April and have been "retired" since 2009. There are times when I build like gangbusters every day...... and then weeks or even months can go by without ever touching a model. It depends on my mood, or inspiration at the time. I sometimes get overwhelmed by looking at the "pile" of unbuilt models and wonder how many of them I will actually get around to working on. My current goal is building all of the cars from the 1950's that I can using whatever plastic kits, resin kits, promos and diecasts that I can get my hands on. I must have between 50 to 75 cars in the "pile" to be worked on....... a daunting task. I do the best I can when the right urge or mood strikes.

  21. Fantastic work, as usual, from you Clifford. I wish I had your talents in working with metals, as I have a diecast 1950 Lincoln Presidential Limo that I'd love to convert into a stock bodied '50 Lincoln...... I can dream about it anyway...
  22. Welcome to our plastic playground Travis.

  24. The L.I.A.R.S.Club, or, Long Island Auto Replica Society is a model car club that was started in late 1991. Members build cars of every ilk, and trucks, and motorcycles and lots of other stuff that they may have an interest in. I originally joined the club in early 1992 but moved from West Islip Long Island to western PA in Nov. '06 due to the ridiculously high R.E. taxes on Long Island. I miss my friends in the club.
  25. I use an eraser tip that fits on the end of my XActo knife handle to keep it from rolling away on me.
