  1. well, i went to mount the headers and reallized that they werent going to fit...shocks were in the way. so i scratched some new ones up using solder, round tubing and heat shrink. also got the interior done but didnt take any pics of it yet but here are the headers
  2. thanks everyone for the great feedback. ive gotten all the chassis parts and motor torn down, repainted and reassembled...will have pics soon. as far as the paint goes i think im goin to do something with purple, but i just cant visualize how the panel lines will flow quite yet. if anyone has any suggestions please let me know. thanks, andy
  3. everythings lookin really good so far. one tip thought, when you put the two block halfs together put a little extra glue in there so that it seeps out, then sand the seems smooth. this makes the seems disappear and make it look a little more realistic. as far as the interior goes, this kit doesnt have much for details, some flocking for the carpet and a little detail painting goes a long ways. im a actually building this kit right now and also going to paint it yellow (making it more stock with steel wheels and dog dish caps). maybe in the next couple of days i will get some pics up and show you how i did the gauges...just used a silver sharpy, then a black wash over the top leaving the raised area silver. keep up the good work. andy
  4. got the body painted today. used one coat bronze lacquer. here is the progress so far
  5. ya, i would of liked to have lowered it a bit more but that would have required it to be channeled and that was just way more work than i wanted to get myself into. as far as the paint goes, i was just going to do a solid color but since you mentioned it this might just be the perfect opportunity to try a pannel job.
  6. i totally agree with you on this. metalizers are some of my most used paints and the testors lacquers arent too bad. but the enamels are for the most part horrible.
  7. dont remeber how many pieces the motor is but its not crazy detailed. i do have the side covers just didnt want to put them on and hide some of the details
  8. i never build lowriders but the recent issue of contest cars inspired me to build this. i had a set of baby d'z in my stash (i was at the LHS and they were screeming at me to buy them) and an old little red wagon that was partially built and probably was going to sit in the box forever. so after doing a spring under i got it as low as i could without major modifications. here is where im at so far.
  9. not a chevy fan, but i love awb cars and gassers...just thought this car looked cool. not the best kit but with a little effort hopefully i can make it look good. didnt like the injectors so i made new ones and also ran piece of wire through for the linkage. front shocks didnt fit so i made new ones. here is my progress so far.
  10. i know its not saturday but this is how my bench looked over the weekend

    that thing is beautiful!
  12. Yes it is a revell kit. The one with the green standard coupe on it.
  13. this is indeed the 2n1 kit. the wheels are from my parts stash...not sure where they came from...and the tires are form modelhaus; they are just like the big n littles in the 29 rat rod pickup kit.
  14. thanks again guys! love the fact that this thread keeps surfacing
  15. thanks guys. actually monty, the nozzle was just fine. the problem that i had was that the metal flake was building too much in the corners and not enough on the flatter areas. i sprayed with light coats but it still didnt make a difference.
  16. I just ruined a paint job using testors from a can. Don't know why I tried it again but know I remember why I never use spray cans anymore...except for small parts. I for the last two years have been using a sata mini jet touch up gun with eurathane automotive paints. Not saying I will never use rattle can again but definitely will not use it often
  17. thanks. the headers are actually the kit pieces. they are different from left to right, but the one you can see would make a great header for a fenderless rod. would just need to make resin copies.
  18. got everything painted but messed up on the body color...now i remember why i never use testors paints as the body colors anymore. got it as low as i could and still fit in the fenders. machined the pullies and got them on tonight. here is what i have so far.

    bantam roadster

thanks harry p, i actually took home a third place trophy running against a lot of fine quality cars ( i was very surprised) if you know of a source of a good belt please let me know where i can get one. as far as the judging goes, from everything that i have ever read, details come last...its all about the fit, finish and quality.
  21. that interior is ridiculous! i love it! great job so far.

    bantam roadster

thanks everyone for the great feedback. i am aware athat the belt is a bit too thick. it came from scale repros plus. i liked the fact that it has a cogged under surface and i have not seen one anywhere else. i didnt want to just use tape because it has a smooth surface. if anyone knows where i can get a more scale version please let me know. thanks andy
  24. Cranky, you never cease to amaze me!
  25. crisp, clean and low...just the way i like em. the supercharger is very cool. nice job!
