  1. Because of this post, I decided to get my Grandson a small battery powered slot car track, to see if he would have any interest in it. He would not put the controller down, we went through 2 sets of batteries, and it's just a small figure 8 track. So now, Pappy is going to build a full size HO track in the train room for him. Thank You for the inspiration. -Steven
  2. That vehicle is awesome! a true "rat-rod", and has far as the lady, Wish I owned a junk yard full of stuff, I think it would be a blast to build a 1:1 franken vehicle lol. I don't judge ones decisions on how they want to look/dress, even if that picture will give me nightmares. -Steven
  3. I would like to say a big thank you for all the replies, suggestions, and information. I been working on the modifying/scratch building the camper and working on the chassis and drive train. -Steven
  4. Some good times in my early youth cranking some Hawkwind, and of course Motorhead.
  5. Good Day Folks! I am currently using the Revell 1977 Pickup kit to make a camper special. I don't really care for the engine that is included has it lacks detail, so I was wondering what kit or aftermarket engine could I use instead? Thank You in advance for your suggestions, -Steven
  6. These are the builds I like the most, factory stock! No frills, not slammed to the ground, just a good ol' American Pick-Up Truck. Outstanding! Thank You for sharing, and the inspiration.
  7. I am I am... I just tore out my 4 x 8 "trial" layout, it was just a learning experience of what to do, and what not to do. I tried out all the different techniques, and different products. My boy turns 18 next year, and will be going into the Military, so I WILL be converting that bedroom into my train room which will be a lot bigger than a 4 x 8 run-around and will be DCC. If he moves back he will move into my current office. :-)
  8. The Mid 70's Ford-F150 for a tribute to one of my favorite YouTube Woodworkers.. It's going to be hard to build, being a Chevy guy LOL -Steven
  9. I'll take the tool kit, for my workshop
  10. I loved that place when it was Cudahy News and Hobby! Went there at least once a week, got some Swedish Fish from the candy counter, and would walk the isles munching on them.
  11. My favorite Nascar era, and my favorite car! Outstanding work on these builds. Will be bookmarking this thread for inspiration, has I will plan on build one this year. -Steven
  12. 1) Scratch build display shelves for the Workshop/Office, so I can safely display my completed builds alway from the cats who think they look better on the floor in many pieces. 2) Work up the courage to start and complete my B-36 Peacemaker, a build dedicated to my pops. 3) Fix the track work on my HO scale model railroad, so I can actually run some trains. -Steven
  13. Good Day Folks! Please don't take this has a negative, but I am giving up trying to build "shiny" things for now. No matter how much I try, I just can not complete a shiny build. I have read tons of how-to's, take my time, and take it one step at a time. I always end up, mucking up the finish by the time I am about to complete a build. So I am going to take a step back, and "perfect" my weathering skills -Steven
  14. Awesome job on this build. I have a question, is there a tutorial, or a list of materials that were used to build the wall and catch fence? I will be working on a dirt-sprint car soon, and would love to build a diorama for it. I know I can do the dirt track, but not sure how to do the wall and catch fence.
  15. Agreed, they can't use the ol' "its the economy" excuse anymore. I am amazed how empty the Bristol night race was, a race that use to be sold-out years in advance, and if you wanted a ticket to the race, one was paying double face value of the ticket.
  16. I was under the impression that the new Nascar bodies were all the same, just different decals on them
  17. It's builds like this, that make me want to throw in the towel.. LOL Seriously though, very inspirational build for sure, amazing details! I look forward to the day, I can achieve works like this. Thank you for sharing, this build.
  18. That's what I was thinking when I saw this build. Fond memories of these, clearing the way, so I could get to school
  19. Outstanding, I had a double-take to make sure it was a model! I wish I could afford this kit, it's been on my wish list for some time now.
  20. This is an AWESOME check list! Not saying that everything on the list, would be done on a single build, but adding a few of these on different builds. This post opened my eyes, and has provided some inspiration to try some of these.
  21. I been wanting to do a build like this, for some reason, I really like cement mixers. I want to do one up, modeled after a cement company from my home town called "Tews". Thanks for the inspiration, I just might try this, sooner rather than later -Steven
  22. One thing that I have noticed about Hobby Lobby (Thanks to a suggestion here, about roaming all the isles), is that the same or similar product, in different packaging for a cheaper price. What I mean is, stuff in the beading section, is sometimes cheaper, then the same or similar item in the scrapbooking section.
  23. Sad that you have to be a member to even view the material, I understand the need to have an account to post, but not sure why it's needed to view.
  24. Oh My!! I want this vehicle! Or better yet, this engine on VW Type II Split Window Bus..
