While the walls were drying, i decided to start on the pumps. I want to light them, and save money, so I made my own.

I'm posting this from work. I have lost internet access at home. When it is restored, I'll start updating. Work on the station continues. All lighting is from LEDs.

I could use that deluxe wheel cover!

I have started the "B" design and am posting it in another thread. I was wondering...was this a "style" of station with a name, like the "Denver" or "Matawan"? I am curious to find out as much as I can about it. It's one thing to just copy the measurements off a building, it's another to really know something about it.

The wall with the bay doors is complete. The letters were carved from .060 styrene. I'm glad that it's over with! Paint is DupliColor White acrylic lacquer.

Some progress has been made. the little tower is pretty much done. I've started painting some walls. The color is DupliColor white acrylic lacquer.

There is a used car dealer across town that is using this style of building. I checked the county auditor site, and their building had been built in 1968 as a Texaco station. I visited the dealer and he allowed me to measure and photograph the building. After creating drawings form the measurements, I used photographs to return the appearance to original. The tower part was not present on the dealership, so I guesstimated it's dimensions using photographs.

The real station was located a few blocks from where I grew up. It's in 1/25 scale. the walls are gatorboard covered with .060 styrene. It's hard to photograph white in normal room conditions, but here goes...

Compare these front ends. They changed the front end structure after '73, and JoHan just squished a '75 grille into the '73 opening. The front bumper is a 1973 bumper, not a '75. I'm surprised no one has noticed this. If you want this style of Cutlass, the '73 is the only decent one.

I've since added a different Shell and Gulf.

I've decided on option B. I've got most of the external scribing done, and I've started on the windows. This will be a long-term project. I'll post pictures when I get a chance. Thanks for your input!

I scratch built those. All I remember is starting with a 1973 ElDorado wheel cover. I don't remember what I did from there.

For me the worst part was cutting out all those letters from .040 styrene. Once you get past that, it gets better.

Just finished this small diorama. Building is mostly .060 styrene. 1/25 scale of course!

I've done this conversion. I kept the body halves together, and added interior parts from the bottom. After the interior was done, I added the floor, then built the chassis. I'm leaving a link to my build in the hopes some of the pics might be useful to your build. It's a cool project! Remember, the model is wrong. These were front wheel drive, not rear wheel. Sounds like an objective review. I'm very intimidated when making these masters because I want buyers to be happy with what they get. There's always people who know more than I do about about these subjects. I wish I could attend to every little thing, but honestly, mastering takes so long I have difficulty staying interested long enough to finish everything. I can't wait to see some of these built, I hope everyone enjoys them. I've always wanted a 1/25 Econoline of this vintage, and I thank Jeff for helping me make it happen. I gave him the master with just a coat of primer because he's much better at smoothing things out than I am. I think few casters would sell all this for less than $90.00, so kudos again, Jeff, for trying to keep this within reach of as many modelers as possible. Can't wait to build mine.

It's an OH-58 Kiowa. A D model or newer. The D model is when they went from 2 blade main rotor to 4 blade.
