This beauty came for me today. Scored this of the EvilBay. Bare in mind I say beauty not having opened the box yet so there could be some disappointment inside much like the Comet with no engine compartment walls or the AMT 73 Mustang I bought to make the original Elanor from Gone in 60 Seconds which despite what the box art depicts it's imposable to make a stock Mustang from this kit.
Than after last night demoralizing Super bowl loss to the dreaded New Jersey Giants I tried to ease my pain some what by buying one of my all time grail kits. I know its not a rare kit but it's always been what I felt was a bit pricy. Maybe it was the Patrones talking but I had been watching this one and decided WTF.
I hope this makes sense... I was curious to know for those of you who use rattle can paint do you ever use it in your airbrush? It's been my experience that one has more control when painting with an airbrush rather than a rattle can. Let’s not forget that there are decidedly more precise colors in the can. My question is how do you transfer the paint from the rattle can to a container cleanly for use with an air brush?
The body has been primed and sanded. Next will be another round of Mr Surface Primer, light sanding and then some paint.
The dash and door panels are masked and ready for some paint.
Here is the paint I choose. Metallic Green
First cote of paint
Continuing with Jennifer its time to lay some carpet
This process is a first for me. I found that my LHS sold this Flock like material. It was a smaller amount and cost less then then the actual Flocking material but I'm hoping it works the same.
For those that have never used or seen how this works. First pour a little of the Flock like material into a strainer and sift.
Before
After
Next I mixed a mixture of Elmers glue with some water
Then apply the mix to the area that needs to be carpeted.
Once the Flock is applied I pat it down with a finger and that's it. Considering this was my first attempt I was happy with the results
Next I think I'll be tackling the body and some paint.
Thanks for looking
