  1. This is sort of the look I try and get as well. The paint I usually use, Tamiya XF-56 Metallic Gray, tends to be a little flatter finished.
  2. I have only seen these cars on YouTube in Rally Races, but I think they look great and love the sound when they're "at full song".
  3. Ya, I saw that as well. Don't want to hate on someone's car, but it is sort of hard to figure out just what is going on.
  4. Hi Trevor, LOL, hope that's cheeky good. The car I was trying to replicate from memory had larger rear tires than the front. I may have taken some liberty with the slicks, but that's the way I would have done it.
  5. Hi Mike. For the window tint I used Tamiya Clear Blue rattle can. I'm still trying to figure that all out and not get it as heavy as this. You will use at least a quarter to a third of a sheet of Bare Metal Foil on this much like any '50's and '60's car, and I had shaved the hood, trunk and front fenders.
  6. Hi Elliot. AMT offered two versions of the Starliner. The first was as a completely stock but with a few engine options. This one is the second issue listed as a custom version. This one offers a set of factory style cast iron headers with full length side pipe exhaust.
  7. Hi Elliot. AMT offered two versions of the Starliner. The first was as a completely stock but with a few engine options. This one is the second issue listed as a custom version. This one offers a set of factory style cast iron headers with full length side pipe exhaust. Round 2 has since reissued this kit a few times. Other than the small usual contact between the glass and interior contact during assembly it really is a great kit and I'm going to build another soon.
  8. Hi Mike, I always enjoy watching your WIP. Would love to see your Starliner. They offered some great colors and interiors on these cars.
  9. Thankyou David, I'm glad you liked it. The seat inserts were an experiment for me, and I'm pleased at how it turned out. As I mentioned in the WIP, Ford did a really great job on their interiors on the Starliner models and while I couldn't capture all of the colors that Ford had used, I think the gold gives just enough without going overboard.
  10. Hi David, glad you like the build. The tinted windows are something new for me after seeing others here do them. I'm using rattle cans, and you lose a little control that way and tend to get a finish more like you had gone to a tint shop and had them put film on your windows.
  11. I have had good luck with Tamiya TS-14 Black in rattle cans. I'll also recommend their Clear Gloss as a topcoat.
  12. Your custom touches to the grill, taillights, and the hood really enhances the look of this. Like the owner's rattle can paint job and exhaust stack through the bed floor.
  13. The paint finish and color look great and the body trim is all cleanly done. The attention to all the under-hood wiring and detailing along with the hitch wiring details as Tom mentioned is what really catches my eyes.
  14. I was also wondering about the blower since I really don't see any air ducting too the blower. Maybe it's just a shell, remember some guys that did that years ago with an empty blower on top of the carb. and even had a belt from the crank running the front pully.
  15. Just got my July Issue of Hemmings Classic Cars and their main theme this month has to do with cars and trucks sold in Canada. They have one article that covers some of the history and a few articles on specific models one of which is the 1956 Crown Victoria from Ford of Canada that is also the cover car.
  16. Great looking paint finish and cleanly detailed body trim.
  17. Like the early Kustom Style appearance with the Duval windshield.
  18. Great looking build. Like the retro blower thru the hood.
  19. Father and son project looks great. I'm impressed that you got the convertible top to fit correctly.
  20. Great looking paint color and finish. The white stripes make a good contrast and matches the interior. The trim all looks very cleanly done. Like the stance.
  21. Kind of looks like an old Air Stream trailer, at least they looked kind of cool.
  22. The color of the 1:1 spokes can depend on the model or style of American 5 spoke wheel you're thinking about. The wheels with the steel outer part of the wheel that is covered by the outer half from the bolt center to the outer edge of the face was usually a flat medium gray color. There is a one-piece cast wheel that has a machined or more often a polished lip that again, usually referred to as a "coke bottle or a daisy" style, done with a sand cast type finish and left with a natural aluminum finish. Some of these wheels, and this is where the usually I mentioned can apply, can be had with a flat metallic looking darker gray painted finish. For that particular style I would suggest looking at Tamiya XF-56 Flat Metallic Gray in a brush on paint. There has been at times in the past as trends and style have changed where the centers would be painted either the body color of the vehicle or maybe a contrasting color. I'd paint them whatever color gives you the look you're after. A spoon or scrape spruce is good for checking how the color would look.
  23. Like the paint color and finish. Don't know if you are even considering a screen for the hood vents, but I have used a simple repair kit for a home screen door for a source and that proved to be very flexible to conform to the curved opening and some Revell Contacta Clear glue worked well to securing the screen. Those decals should look good.
  24. Attended the Friday Night entertainment at a local winery last night. The group played all the head rocking '70's music we all used to sing along to. Rain, and heavy down pours were all in the weather predictions for the evening. Felt a few drops toward the middle of the first set before you started to see umbrellas start to appear. The only part of the stage that wasn't covered was over the keyboarder. A lady from the audience went up on stage and sat behind him and held a large umbrella over him and the keyboard. Very few people got up and left even when the rain started getting a little heavier. All was going great until the power supply blew. The audience was still dancing and singing along so the band said they weren't going anywhere.
  25. Great looking paint finishes. The trim looks really cleanly done. Nice engine compartment details.
