What an odd looking truck. http://www.theblaze.com/stories/2014/02/18/see-the-futuristic-concept-truck-walmart-wants-to-use-to-maximize-efficiency-on-the-road/#

To convert the AMT 72 kit to a 69 you'd need the grille and hood specific to 69-70. You can get away with the 72's hood if you don't mind not having the bowtie on the leading edge.

Which kit did you snag, Ron? The 2WD or 4WD version?

Thanks, Daniel. Once you have them listed on your website I will order some along with a hitch.

Here in the land of sanity only the biggest gas stations (10+ pumps) will have pre-pay only pumps, and those are usually the ones farthest from the store. Most places also have the option to pay at the pump; those that don't are very rare. My wife and I do not use credit cards; we use our debit cards which are different than what you have in the US. It is only within the past year or so that our debit cards work in the US, which is great.

Picked up another bunch of parcels at my US PO box today and got another Revell snap 78 Blazer and the Revell 65 Chevy pickup and Hemi Hydro combo kit. Found a BIN auction for $12 for that one and had to jump on it!

Went down to the US today for some shopping and to pick up parcels from my PO box and made the mistake of going to a gas station I don't normally go to. Pre-paid fuel only! Such a ridiculous idea. Especially in the middle of the afternoon in broad daylight! Are y'all just that paranoid of fuel theft? Yeesh.

What tires do you recommend for these, Daniel? The ones in the AMT dually promos?
-
I agree, Casey, the Matchbox AMT box art is beautiful. Love the Wild Hoss Bronco.

There is an eBay seller, teddyb2336, used to have one up for sale. He also has the 88-98 Chevy promo cap and the Revell Datsun cap. EDIT: Here's one: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Resin-pickup-cap-topper-for-older-8-ft-version-trucks-Ford-Dodge-Chevy-1-24-1-25-/321322070839?pt=Model_Kit_US&hash=item4ad049b337 Although I can't say I'm a big fan of him claiming to "pursue legal action" if someone makes a copy. He copied the original items from the manufacturer; if someone else does the same, can he "pursue legal action"?

My LHS has this listed on his "coming soon" page with a price of $35.25 CDN. Something in the little blurb caught my attention: "Tooling modifications have been made to backdate the kit and improve accuracy. Improvements include the re-engraving of door key holes, front fender reflectors and retooling of the correct front bumper."

A tip when looking at completed auctions: red prices didn't sell, green ones did. I've been tracking lots of kits that interest me for a while now and I've noticed that most auctions start and end on a Sunday; most bidding activity takes place within the last 20-30 minutes of the auction. Something that I've noticed that is tied in to the reserve system is an auction that has bids but still has a Buy It Now option available at the reserve price. I'm wondering if the bids don't get to the BIN price if the seller has to honour the sale? I don't think those auctions say "reserve not met" or not...

When kit scavenging gets bad
Fabrux replied to Jantrix's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I have a spreadsheet for my inventory and I also have a column in which I keep track of the status of the kit: built, open, sealed, built by others (gluebomb), in progress, parts only. The last category is for kits from which I have taken so many parts it can't be built anymore; those ones are kept separate from the stash. When I take out a few parts, like optional wheels, engines, equipment, etc I write on a piece of masking tape what I've removed and stick it on the box. For instance, I have a 1:24 70 Chevelle I took the engine out for a project. It can still be built with another engine from the parts bin, so it is in the regular stash. -
Went to the local chain thrift store last night and picked up an internally sealed Revell 2010 Camaro SS kit for $7! Only had the mangled box top but all the bags are still sealed.

As said above, shut up and take my money! Those 16.5s would be perfect for a build I'm working on.

Looks pretty good! Although I would say that your Christmas tree is a little low; the plow lights should be above the hood. Where did you get the plow rigging? And the rims? -
Harry, do you do all of your insurance directly with the company? I deal with a broker that shops around to get me the best price. The company I'm with right now insures my truck and camper for the cheapest I've found. We don't have a lot of options for auto insurance in NB and a lot of companies won't offer insurance here. When my wife and I got married, I got a quote from her company and they wanted the same amount to insure just my truck as I was paying for my truck, car, and camper! And we have our renter's insurance with her company, too! So, even though we live together and are married, we still have seperate insurance policies as my company wants more to insure my wife than what she is currently paying (she rolled her car literally the weekend before we met).

Not that I have seen the movies myself, but he has a fairly big role in the Hunger Games series and I believe two of the movies were in the midst of filming. Another Paul Walker case, possibly having to scrap a lot of footage and starting over.

Finally managed to get my hands on an AMT 1967 Chevy C10 cab that I've been searching for for several years. Will go great with my resin hood, grille, and bed. Now to find the rest of the pieces.

Depending on price, I may be interested in one.
