Online Black Friday kit/supplies deals?
Fabrux replied to jeffs396's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Doesn't that defeat the purpose of 'Cyber' Monday? -
Your favourite Box art

Here's another in AMT's race car/trailer/tow vehicle series: -
I'm so trying this. I've been trying to "flock" (using embossing powder) for the first time and not having much luck.

I think that the threads that are currently in the reviews section should stay as is, however a new policy moving forward could be adopted. When it comes to new releases, separate threads for speculation and reviews should be present. Once the kit is released, a new thread strictly for the review should be started (say, for the Moebius F-100). These new release review threads would ideally present enough material for presentation in the magazine itself (pictures of box contents) and discussion on the kit. Retro reviews would ideally also contain pictures of box contents. History of a line of kits should contain pictures of box contents, but from experience I can tell you that unless you actually own all the kits it is difficult to do. Just my 5ยข (according to the Government of Canada's suggested rounding guidelines)

Eastern Canadian, too. At least, that's how I've always pronounced it.

Help with kit Identifying
Fabrux replied to my80malibu's topic in Truck Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Looks like a school bus with a 41 Chevy pickup nose. I see this bus body on eBay from time to time, usually just the body no truck nose to go with it. -
1975 Chevy 2 ton tow truck

How did you go about making the medium duty front clip? And what did you use for a grille? Hard to see in your pictures. -
91 Full Size Blazer
Fabrux replied to Grzegorz's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
I would LOVE To have a copy of that grille. -
Add in some full-float rears and 4x4 front hubs and we're good to go!

I stopped watching Family Guy when they did the Christmas special where Stewie and Brian were covering for Santa Claus. For some reason, even after all the BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH they'd done throughout the years, that episode just turned me off.

Great rubber offroad tires with nice rims for 8$
Fabrux replied to MsDano85gt's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
I picked up a set of these from a tank thingy that was molded in blue, labelled 'POLICE' and had white rims. -
Rounded Line is what GM called them. Mostly due to the window glass and openings, upper doors, dash, etc. Compared to what came after, they are certainly worthy of the more common appellation of squarebody nowadays.

I once sent him a request to produce some decals for some local companies. At the time the images weren't the greatest and he didn't have much luck producing good digital files from which to print the decals. But, he printed off a set of decent decals from the images and sent them to me free of charge! I may try to get the decals done again as the available images are much better now.

The original pieces have arrived at SELtd, on the bench for casting in December!

I have only ever seen one of these conversions done and it looks good! considering the most potent engine available in 1986 was the 2.9L V6 it isn't such a wonder that this configuration wasn't available from the factory!

New releases effect on originals
Fabrux replied to cobraman's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I think that the price of the originals after a reissue has a lot to do with the condition of the tooling. If parts are missing or in bad condition, the original will be far more valuable. A classic example of this is the AMT 1969 Chevelle: the tail lights were altered in later issues so the originals still command higher prices. -
I would like some pictures of the engine; very difficult to find pictures online as most trucks you see have V8s! I'm still on the lookout for pictures of an 84-87 with a V6...

The later-tool AMT 1960 Chevrolet C10 is a good source for a 6 cylinder engine that can be tweaked for many different applications. The Trumpeter Novas as well, but they're getting pretty pricey for just a donor. The MPC Bronco has a pretty good SBF in it, as well as the AMT Econoline "Vantom/Phantom". AMT 62 Thunderbird as a good tri-carb Y-block; the Revell 56 F-100 has a decent Y-block as well.

I doubt that they put much effort into the branding of the plow; XYZ was probably just meant to be a jibberish brand, not knowing there was actually a company building plows in Sweden under that name!
