  1. A tip when looking at completed auctions: red prices didn't sell, green ones did. I've been tracking lots of kits that interest me for a while now and I've noticed that most auctions start and end on a Sunday; most bidding activity takes place within the last 20-30 minutes of the auction. Something that I've noticed that is tied in to the reserve system is an auction that has bids but still has a Buy It Now option available at the reserve price. I'm wondering if the bids don't get to the BIN price if the seller has to honour the sale? I don't think those auctions say "reserve not met" or not...
  2. You are correct, sir: Future is now Pledge. You want the Floor Car Finish, NOT the cleaner. The bottle I have still has the old Future logo on it but I think the latest line on the shelves don't have it anymore.
  3. I have a spreadsheet for my inventory and I also have a column in which I keep track of the status of the kit: built, open, sealed, built by others (gluebomb), in progress, parts only. The last category is for kits from which I have taken so many parts it can't be built anymore; those ones are kept separate from the stash. When I take out a few parts, like optional wheels, engines, equipment, etc I write on a piece of masking tape what I've removed and stick it on the box. For instance, I have a 1:24 70 Chevelle I took the engine out for a project. It can still be built with another engine from the parts bin, so it is in the regular stash.
  4. Went to the local chain thrift store last night and picked up an internally sealed Revell 2010 Camaro SS kit for $7! Only had the mangled box top but all the bags are still sealed.
  5. After 9 bids, the relisted auction is back up to $780...
  6. As said above, shut up and take my money! Those 16.5s would be perfect for a build I'm working on.
  7. The frame may also be from the GMC... hmm.
  8. Looks pretty good! Although I would say that your Christmas tree is a little low; the plow lights should be above the hood. Where did you get the plow rigging? And the rims?
  9. Harry, do you do all of your insurance directly with the company? I deal with a broker that shops around to get me the best price. The company I'm with right now insures my truck and camper for the cheapest I've found. We don't have a lot of options for auto insurance in NB and a lot of companies won't offer insurance here. When my wife and I got married, I got a quote from her company and they wanted the same amount to insure just my truck as I was paying for my truck, car, and camper! And we have our renter's insurance with her company, too! So, even though we live together and are married, we still have seperate insurance policies as my company wants more to insure my wife than what she is currently paying (she rolled her car literally the weekend before we met).
  10. Not that I have seen the movies myself, but he has a fairly big role in the Hunger Games series and I believe two of the movies were in the midst of filming. Another Paul Walker case, possibly having to scrap a lot of footage and starting over.
  11. Finally managed to get my hands on an AMT 1967 Chevy C10 cab that I've been searching for for several years. Will go great with my resin hood, grille, and bed. Now to find the rest of the pieces.
  12. Sounds like they are doing a chrome sprue after all, excellent.
  13. Depending on price, I may be interested in one.
  14. Also, all 4x4 GM trucks had 6 lug wheels. Factory 16 inch wheels didn't appear on GM trucks until the 1988 restyle; I think 16.5 inch rims were available on 3/4 and up trucks, though.
  15. Something I thought of, and only because I have one of the Hilux kits: will this have a chrome tree? Given that armour is their primary subject, I'm not sure Meng has much if any experience in chrome plating. The Hilux kits show chromed bumpers, grilles, and roll bars on the box art but there is no chrome to be found in the box. Given the expected price point, their target market would probably use Alclad anyway, but the lack of chrome could scare off casual builders.
  16. Hey Chris, what is the condition of the boxes? There was a vendor at the flea market in Sussex this past summer that had four or five of them but the boxes were all horribly mangled. One of the guys in my club picked one up and I'm kicking myself for not getting one as he suggested it would make a good tow vehicle for the Silhouette!
  17. I have one of the Toyotas amd you're right, it is a beautiful kit. I really should finish it one of these days...
  18. This is amazing! Looks like the engine is a diesel, too! Man oh man I'll be buying a few of these!
  19. What's a c-note? :S
  20. Wait, what? The Pumpin Iron has the later style grille? This kit has now jumped up on my priority list...
  21. NB also requires stickers front and rear.
  22. Here in NB plates are issued to the car rather than the owner. You see many different plates on many different vehicles but as a general rule (and I haven't figured out a way around this yet) you can't use a plate older than the vehicle. In 1992 a new plate design/numbering system was introduced and ALL vehicles had to switch to this new plate. The design has been updated periodically since then, however. We now have antique plates for vehicles older than 25 years that have restrictions on how much you can drive them and we also have seasonal plates that are valid from May to October. The attraction for the seasonal plates is that you only need to display the rear plate (NB is a front plate province).
  23. My wife is literally a Pinterest addict.
  24. Hmm, 327 ci factors out to 5.4L and that IS a Ford mill.
  25. So here's something that has gotten me excited. Moving over the next couple of weeks, and I get a big bump up in my hobby room. I go from this: Approximately 6 ft x 12 ft, 58 sqft To this: Approximately 12 ft x 15 ft, 190 sqft!
