I've never done a W.I.P. before . I do take lots of pictures when I'm building though . Sometimes I see things in a photo that I would have otherwise missed !

Thanks guys . The tires are from the AMT '62 'Vette . They are a nice size for small cars . As far as painting white walls . . . this was my first attempt . I used Humbrol acrylic white paint , rigged a bolt and some washers to hold the tire . and clamped my elec. drill in a vise . On a slow speed , brace your hand to keep it steady and use a brush to paint the tire . If you screw up , wash the paint off with water and try again . I definitely need to practice ! Some guys say they use a circle template , which I have , but I couldn't figure that out . Oh yeah , after they dry spray them with some Dull Cote . . . looks great !

Thanks Mike . Rechroming is not a problem !

I'm currently working in 2 Chrysler 300's . The 1st is a wagon with a 'cuda Hemi in it . I had a jimmy Flintstone body , but it looked too street rodded so I built my own body . The 2nd is a shortened wheelbase using the chassis , engine , and interior from the Lindberg Charger . Lots of cutting to get it to fit under the Chrysler body . I need help tho' , with 2 300 kits I only have 1 front bumper . Does any body have a spare ?

Here's my finished chassis . I know a lot of you won't like wide whites on a dune buggy , but I saw one with them back in '69 and liked it . Besides , I had never painted them before and wanted to give it a try . Please give me your opinion .

While waiting for my LHS to open this morning I went across the street to a Thrift Store . Right in front of the store were these 2 kits ( only kits they had ) . I paid their asking price of $10.00 each ! They are opened but still sealed inside !

It's not worth that much . I've seen it sell for $55.00 in the past . And the yellow Mustang about the same . If you are not in a hurry , just "save" a search for what you are looking for and check back every few days . Sooner or later you will find one at a decent price . It's the " I gotta have that ! " people you drive the price up .

All things considered , I say it is legit . I have an original MPC '71 Cyclone Spoiler that I bought in 1972 and the shrink wrap looks similar to that Chevelle , except it has shrank a bit and collapsed the top and one side if the box . A kit is only worth what some one is willing to pay , and obviously that Chevelle is considered collectable .

Off white roofs on 50's cars

It looks a little darker than Wimbledon White . Try an Almond color used for painting kitchen appliances ( Rustoleum or Krylon ) . My refrigerator and stove look real close . -

TooOld replied to Casey's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Nice pictures of a pretty neat old car ! I always wanted this kit growing up , but never bought it because my big brother built one first . Definitely getting one this time . -
Great looking Belair ! Awesome paint ! And the photography is first class .
-
Very nice '62 . Interior looks very sharp ! And there ain't no wrinkles in your trim . . . nice work .
-
That is definetly the BEST looking build of that kit ! Congratulations on a job well done .
-
Beautiful build by the way ! You should be proud of it .

It's a shame that alot of NASCAR fans don't have any idea who Tim Richmond was . If he had lived he would be in the Hall of Fame now .

Great ! Brought back a lot of memories . BTW , my daily driver until a couple of years ago was a '60 El Camino . Small block , Holley 4-bbl , headers , 4-speed , and Cragars . It was finished in 3 different colors of primer and a rusted out floor . On my way home after work one day , a guy coming the other way turned left like I wasn't there ! I drove that El Camino for almost 20 years and sure do miss it . -
Missing Alternator brackets is right up there, but my biggest pet peeve is : Beautifully painted and finished models with tires that look like they came off of a toy car . Nice and shiny , no lettering , and a big mold line down the center of the tread ! Even the ugliest beater looks good with a nice set of aluminum wheels amd some Radial T/A's ! ! I've sold two old cars that way ( of course I get to keep them to be used on my next vehocle ) .
