Just 1 of the 8 remaining Big Boys left. And 1 of the 7 around the country to see as one was bought or donated back to UP and is currently being restored to hit the rails again. We're pretty lucky to have one on display in Wisconsin. I'm just glad they made room to move it indoors to preserve it better.

I have that video...as well as a bunch more. Mostly UP though. I believe the UP 4017 is the one at the rail museum in Greenbay. Somewhat of an interesting fact...the firebox bricks were removed from the Big Boy in Greenbay to put into the firebox of the Milwaukee Road 216 when it was first restored.

I saw one of these at the hobby store the last time I was there. It was a pre-decorated NYPD Squad. I was interested, but also not at the same time. I think my wife thought of these because I've been talking about wanting to get a real one as a daily driver instead of my truck. Anyway, it's a 1/18 Greenlight Hot Pursuit Crown Victoria Police Interceptor(undecorated). It has working lights and siren that my thoughtful wife got me for Christmas. Now I need to find some decals to finish it off the way I want.

What kits did you get for Christmas?
The70judgeman replied to 95neon's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Closest thing to a model is a Greenlight 1/18 die-cast Crown Victoria Police Car with siren and working lights in plain white ready for decals. I'm still waiting for my favorite HS to get their shipment from Moebius of the '61 Ventura's and then I'll make the trip up there. Who knows when they'll get them in. They don't even know. -

Can't really add anything more than what has been said. Just an outstanding job all around...especially on the details. -
Really nice build. I wasn't going to before, but now I might have to pick one up.
-
Nice clean paint & build. Only thing....the "Pistol Grip" is backwards.

This is the book I use for color references. I don't see it either. Maybe it was a special order color. -

Glasspack Mufflers `60-`70 vintage
The70judgeman replied to 69NovaYenko's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
The Revell kit does not have the Glasspacks. It's just a regular dual muffler exhaust. I cut the mufflers out, saving the clamps, switched the head pipes(left to right, right to left, and put the glasspacks in. Since the pipes were switched, the heads of the pipes were cut off and I grafted in solder to run back up to the manifolds. I then weathered everything to hide that work. -
Went out to breakfast with my mom and a cousin that I haven't seen in years. Since I was more than half way from home to the hobby store(Model Empire), hey, what the heck...complete the journey. Well, I came home with these. I'm a little disappointed with the Challenger. The hard-top is a separate piece, but I'll make it work.

What Did You Get Today? (Not Model Related)
The70judgeman replied to LOBBS's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
I got all of these things over the week except for the drive shafts. First is the rotating work stand. Not a whole lot to explain there. Second, are the jack stands. I got those to set the truck on to keep the suspension at drive height and to keep the tires from flat spotting. Last, I got the upgraded drive shafts. They're from MIP and all metal. They replace probably the weakest link of the truck. I guess I could mention the all metal bead-lock wheels and new tires too. As well as the roof rack with lights and a headlight/taillight kit. Yes, I know the pics are out of order. -

The metal(aluminum) "Cherry Bombs" were made by Detail Master. They're what I used on my '72 Olds Cutlass. -
Whats your work area like?
The70judgeman replied to Dann Tier's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I'd show mine, but it doesn't exist yet except for tape on the floor to outline it in the basement. It's my winter project this year. I need to get back to building! -
I built one of those years ago around when they were released. Everything went great until one of the valve stem springs went flying. Well, that half of the engine got painted up like the real thing and the other is clear to show the inner workings. One of the future problems you'll have is the belts. They'll dry out and get brittle.

That is awesome news Dave! Just reserved 4-5 kits at my favorite LHS.
