What was your 1st 1 to car
The70judgeman replied to 69NovaYenko's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
$900 got me a 1972 Pontiac LeMans Sport with a 350 2bbl(I changed over to a Edelbrock aluminum intake and a Holley 4bbl when the 2bbl went kaput). It had the RA Hood, Endura front bumper, fender air extractors, and Cordova Top. So, it looked the same as a GTO...or, the other way around since the GTO was an option on the Lemans again. As many problems I had with it, it's the only vehicle that I wish I still had. It was very similar, condition as well, to the picture here, but mine was black and had late 80's 14" Firebird rims. -
What did you see on the road today?

On my way home from work, after being diverted off and then back onto the freeway, I passed the slowest tractor/trailer(car carrier) with mostly blah cars. But, tucked up front on the lower tier there was a '68 Chevy Impala Coupe(not the fastback). It seemed to be in pretty decent original condition and not rusted out. Also, packing the budget friendly 350. -
Great looking car and diorama idea! I've built 4 of the Egg Planes myself...the P-51, Corsair, and 2 P-47's. One of the P-47's was built for a friend to give as a birthday gift to a WWII P-47 pilot. He snuck it into a large display of WWII aircraft models the Vet had built and waited for the guy to notice it. He absolutely loved it!

In the grocery store parking lot this morning a '70-'72 Buick Skylark and a '60 Ford Fairlane. -

A baby blue/white top 1957 Chevy 210 4-door. Was in really decent shape too. -

@Jim- Just a little info on Superbird's....It should always have a vinyl top as to cover the rear window plug. It was faster and cheaper for the factory to move the car "out the door" rather than spend the labor to blend it in and paint the roof. -
Despite the dirt and dust, she's still a beauty Steve! Hope the pieces that were stolen are readily available to replace. That sucks though.

Yesterday on my way home from work a white Porsche Panamera passed me on the freeway. Today my wife and I were at the local garbage/recycling place and a very nice restored red 1970 Chevy Chevelle SS rolled up behind us and ended up following us out as well. Don't know for sure what engine, but if I had to bet, I'd say it had a 396 under that Cowl Induction Hood. Of course, I forgot my phone. So, no picture. -
@Ron- Nice collection of GP's! I'm still trying to get my hands on one in kit form. They just keep fetching prices higher than I'm willing to spend.

The green '69 GP is actually my second GP promo. I have a silver "rebuilder" as well. Got it dirt cheap! It needs a little work rebuilding an A-pillar though. Also replacing the wheels with Rally II's from a '73 Formula FB promo that's getting Honeycomb's.

@Steve- Sounds like it'll be a sweet ride once she's back in form and on the road again! Wouldn't mind finding one(not a project or restoration) eventually seeing as they're still reasonably priced. No way I can afford the GTO, Trans Am, or Formula FB I want unless I win the lottery or something.

Got off of Ebay and came in the mail today. A '69 Pontiac Grand Prix promo model(missing the passenger seat though). One of my 2 favorite years for the GP(also the '70). I really like the quad headlights vs. the singles for '71-2. The front ends just look better in my opinion.

Have to agree with Richard. Heart-breaking end to all that hard work. If I'm not mistaken one of the guys that probably worked the hardest on that project died right before the end of all that work. So, a double loss on that one.

Might have to actually head up to EAA this year to see "DOC" & "FIFI" fly together. It'll be a sight to see.

Saw a Dodge Ram Charger 4x4 about three days ago in really decent shape. An 8? Chevy Blazer 4x4 in fantastic rust free shape. Love those REAL full size Blazer's. And, this morning on a trailer going the other way was a '57 Chevy gasser that needed A LOT of help. Hopefully going to a new home for that needed help. -
1937 Packard V12... a classy blast from the past

Not much more can be said than what has been said already. Another stunner Harry. -
Welcome Frank from the NW side of OC!

what kind of Pontiac?
The70judgeman replied to Quick GMC's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
If you update the JF resin kit a little to 1974, get a T/A Shaker, and find the decals you can make a GTO. A Pontiac engine in scale(don't worry about displacement) with a 4bbl intake would complete the effect. It's just not what people think of when you mention "GTO." They're really just a "sticker" car option on the Ventura with a Shaker scoop. -
@Joe- You're gonna have some fun building that! I bought one a few months ago or so. Just a word of caution...when you're assembling the suspension links make sure you are following the correct pages for the correct lengths. There are different length assemblies for different chassis lengths. I have a few more things to get and I'm up and running...battery, charger, controller, and receiver. And, I may get the body painted soon if the weather holds out.

Got this off of Ebay and just came in the mail today. 1960 Ford Country Sedan Station Wagon(sellers wording) promo by Hubley. It is warped a little in the front and glass. I'm a little undecided yet, but I may put it up for a trade. SO, if you're a wagon lover, I know there's a lot of you out there, keep an eye out for it. I just need to do a little research on it before I decide.

I feel your pain John. My wife and I had a bad 2012 when I lost my dad(the actual day I joined this forum) and later that year my wife lost her step-father. I wish you and your family the best, and we'll all be here for you.

@Carl- Well, since that one is my second with the Hurst shifter and Linda Vaughn figure I'll open one to build and keep the other sealed. Maybe it'll be worth a little something in the future. One can only hope. Today I stopped in at Hobby Lobby and picked up the 1/16th scale General Lee. With the 40% off coupon on my phone...what the heck. Less than $20 out the door.

Hmmmmm, what could this be ?
The70judgeman replied to Greg Myers's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Looks like a re-badged Cadillac CTS-V to me. But, somewhat more rounded-off. -
@JC- Those fronts look like wheels/tires that are possibly from the Testors Pantera GTS kit. *After looking at my Pantera kit I was wrong about the front wheels/tires. They're close, but not.
