  1. Not a fan of show rods or fantasy type vehicles, but your paint work on this is outstanding!
  2. @Daniel- Yes, there is a small company, in the Southwest US I believe, that bought all the remaining stockpile of parts. So, as of right now, there are NOS parts to be had. They also plan to start reproducing parts as well. If you've seen the show "Wheeler Dealer" on Velocity, Mike Brewer was there to buy parts for the DeLorean he bought and shipped to England to fix up and sell.
  3. I think Casey will be the only one that'll somewhat miss Happy Hobby. IF, and I mean ONLY if they severely slash their prices to move merchandise out the door before they close would I consider a trip up there with a stack-o-cash. The last time I was at the Burleigh store was at least 10 or more years ago with my dad. Haven't laughed for so long and that hard at a store in my life! Not only at the prices, but I was pointing out kits that were still there from 10-15 years before.
  4. Didn't they start out as Peach State Die-cast...or something like that. I have a 1/18th '87 Buick Grand National by them. It's relatively simple, but a nice model. Then they changed to GMP(Georgia Marketing). I have about 15 GTO's. Much better models. And now, they're ACME and still making die-casts...Chevelle's, GTO's, Olds Cutlass, and others. Same quality as when GMP, but a slight price jump which didn't seem to back off any buyers as some of the offerings of late are sold out.
  5. Got both of these off of Ebay over the last week or so. Both were reasonable in price since most aircraft like these are quite pricey most of the time. The 727 got here first late last week, but the L1011 came today and took a bit to get here. That bird did not fly. Was in the back of a truck for about a week. I'm trying to put a collection of aircraft I've flown on over the years all in the same scale....1/144th scale. So, two more checked off the list.
  6. My uncle had a Rabbit Cabriolet in that color. He let my mom use it when we were in Miami so she didn't have to rent a car. She managed to trash the gear-box in less than a week. Plus, run it out of gas once...the gauges were in German.
  7. Had to get up there today just to confirm it. Talked to Ray in the model department. Sad to see it go. 50 years as a family owned business.
  8. After an earlier post from page 2 of this topic, I bit the bullet and got this. After hearing one of our LHS is closing its doors in March I had to go there and confirm it. Well, it's going to happen. Sad but true after 50 years of operation. I could have bought one from Ebay or somewhere else, but wanted to support a local family store that I've been going to for years. I basically got it for the same price anyway. So, aside from building my hobby room(my noisy project), I have a quiet project as well for this winter.
  9. Yes it has Nick. I just got back from GN&H a few minutes ago. I didn't get to talk to Jay, but talked to Ray in the model department and it looks like March 31st will be the last day of 50 years in operation. So, not that it'll make a difference in the end, I've been eying this for a while since someone posted it in another post. I bit the bullet and bought it...the 1/10th scale K-5 Blazer R/C kit. I think it'll make a nice little winter project.
  10. I was just there last week...GN&H. Things are thinning out already. Thought they were just wiped out a little on stock from Christmas. I even talked to Jay for a few minutes and he didn't mention the closing at all. Just hope the same fate doesn't happen to Model Empire. I've talked to Alex when I was looking for a job. For them, about the only reason they are able to keep the doors open is internet sales. Otherwise, they'd be long gone or strictly internet/catalog sales.
  11. Based on your drawing in your first pic...you're gonna have a mess everywhere when you airbrush/spray. The fan will blow your overspray all over the place...not entirely out the window.
  12. @Casey- I just saw that on Ebay not 10 minutes ago.
  13. Nice ride Bill. I'm with Kostas though...it just needs a little more. Some body stripes would do the trick to set it off.
  14. Had to get out of the house today and made a couple of stops. First place was a bust...no need to explain here as it wasn't model related. My second stop was at the new Hobby Lobby in the area. I had a 40% coupon through my phone, so I picked up the AMT "Christine" model. Ideally, I'd prefer it was molded in white, but it was the only one left and about the only kit that piqued my interest.
  15. It's not really a resolution, but I need to get my hobby room, the paint booth, and kit storage built. And then organize everything so I can get back into building models again. It's been a while since I've been able to even really work on anything aside from picking at kits and doing some minor part glue-ups.
  16. Like Tom was saying about the Testors Gunmetal Metalizer paint...you could mask-off the moldings, paint on the metalizer, and then lightly buff-out the paint. You should be able to get the finish you're looking for.
  17. Nothing model related for X-Mas, but anyway....My wife knows my love of the movie "A Christmas Story." I have to watch it every year...it's MY X-Mas tradition. And, this year she got me the "leg lamp" from the movie. 20" of "electric sex"(quote from the movie). I also got a pair of Leinenkugel Shandy glasses(one shown) and a Blu-ray movie from my step-daughter.
  18. My favorite year, color, and dream car.
  19. I thought I've seen it before.
  20. Not sure about "gunmetal", but I believe I've seen Black Chrome BMF. Not sure if you could burnish it out to look like gunmetal.
  21. Thanks for the explanation in depth Dave. I knew there was much more to creating a newly tooled kit than meets the eye and there is only so much that can be done when detailing a miniature of a 1:1. Some details are just too small and/or delicate to reproduce. I do appreciate the amount of detail that is put into these new Moebius kits. They are, in my opinion, far superior kits to AMT, Revell/Monogram, and other popular brands with fit/finish and detailing for the more advanced modeler. I, for one, can't wait for the new '61 Pontiac to come out and look forward to buying multiple copies of it.
  22. I guess this is autoish, but to save the trouble I'll post it here. It's the 1/35 Kinetic Model Kits 4X4 MRAP Armoured Fighting Vehicle from the first production run, so it includes the US soldier checkpoint figures as a bonus pack. I got it at Panther Model Supply that is pretty much right around the corner from me. They had it on Ebay for a 20% off sale, but I missed it on there and I stopped in today just to ask if they'd match that price. Well, they did and I'm a happy camper for sure! It's beautifully molded with lots of detail(the box is full with parts trees) and also includes a PE set for the window protection.
  23. Thanks Miles. I don't how it happens with my wife. If I happen to go with her to a thrift store....no models. If she goes by herself, I get a phone call about a model or two. Go figure. I usually build 60's and 70's Muscle Cars, but I'll do an airplane just to do something different. Usually something from WWII. There's a couple of new WWII plane kits in 1/32 scale that I'd like to get, but they're way to expensive. One is a B-25 Mitchell and the other is a B-17. They're huge! Also, since posts were lost from a small time period, I thought I'd repost the lot of planes I got off of Ebay. All of these plane kits for $38+shipping(it still came out to way less if each were bought individually). All, except one, are 1/48 scale and the one is 1/72. They're all open boxes, but all are still sealed in bags inside...except one(but, it's complete).
  24. I had another post in here, but I have no idea where the heck it went. My wife went and did a little shopping at a thrift store and found this for me The box is a little dented, but it's still sealed.
