Dodge Sidewinder Custom FINISHED! (Better pics today!)
The70judgeman replied to Kennyboy's topic in Model Cars
Great looking build Ken! I got one of those off of ebay, cheap, a few months ago or so. Thanks for mentioning some of the trouble spots with the kit. Just don't know when I'll get around to it. -
What did you see on the road today?
The70judgeman replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Saw a yellow '70 Mach 1 Mustang on Sunday. Yesterday on the way back from the new house with my wife we saw a '40 Ford Coupe(stock) and two other '40's cars that were lightly hot-rodded. All three were at a funeral home lined up at the head of a procession that hadn't left yet. -

@Harry- True. But, on this one there were call-outs on the hood scoops. Just couldn't tell what it was as it drove by and then had to wait for other cars to go by before I could even get on the road. -

@Harry- MOPAR's of that vintage have the engine displacement on the car somewhere...front fender, hood scoops, etc.... That's how. And yes, before you say it, I know you can lie about what you have under the hood. -

On the way home from Wally World I saw a yellow '69 Dodge Coronet R/T. I couldn't manage to catch up to it to see what engine it had due to "Sunday drivers" ahead of me. You know the type...H.U.A. drivers sight-seeing, lane deviating, and way under the speed limit when they should be looking in front of them. -
@James- Sorry, I only took the one picture. Of course I did open the box though. Typical Tamiya kit...finely molded body and parts(but somewhat simplified), no flash, nice chrome, and I'm sure it'll be easy to assemble. And yes, it has an engine....not a curbside kit. As of right now, the kit is put away in a box with some of my stash. We're moving very soon and all modeling is on hold.

I think I remember this one in the "on the workbench" section. It really turned out great! Love the OHC Sprint 6...something different.

Made a little trip to Model Empire this morning. Since they're not a "preferred Revell seller", I had to wait to get the '70 Torino. But, I saved at least a few dollars over regular retail elsewhere. Also got the Tamiya Alpine. I've been eyeing those for a bit on ebay and bought it for around the same as the cheaper ones there minus the shipping. Since someone here built one earlier this year and posted it I just had to have one myself. And finally, some paint...Grabber Orange for the Torino and Mica Blue for the Alpine. I always grab 2-3 cans of the Wet Look Clear too when available. Love that stuff.

Got this off of ebay...cheap. I know there's probably not a huge interest in aircraft here on the forums, but check out the size of the decal sheet! Although, there are 5 versions of the plane to choose from, but most of the decals are common to all versions. They're almost as big as the box(21"x9 1/4")! It has the cargo interior, so the plane can be build with the rear open as well as the front nose in the up position with the nose gear lowered, and ramp extended.

As I'm posting this, it was yesterday that I had a brief conversation with Casey...well, we texted back and forth. Without getting into details, he's doing fine and like Harry was saying, he's just taking some time off. He still pops on from time to time, but his time to do so is limited.

The only thing I can see that would make this one better is swapping in the new AMT Polyglas GT tires.

Looks great for a starter model! Hope to see more finished models later. You'll get this in due time after being on here for a while, but hurry and get the side mirrors on before Harry P. sees this model.

What did you see on the road today?
The70judgeman replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I think it was Wednesday on my way to work I saw a Jaguar E-Type convertible...bright red with a black top. Today I saw a minty green '53(?) Chevy that was mildly hot-rodded and a red '68 Firebird. Also saw the '70 Challenger again mentioned in an earlier post and I could see that it is FC7 Plum Crazy Purple. Wish I had the $ to make an offer on it. But, I can already hear the most common answer in response to an offer on such a car..."No, it's not for sale, I'm going to restore it someday." Yeah right. EDIT- Was wrong about the color on that Challenger. Drove by again today without wearing my sunglasses and it's actually a very faded B5 Blue. Even so, what a waste of a car sitting in a garage rotting away with all kinds of sh...ahem...STUFF piled on top of it. -
Believe me I'd love to, but I can't......working. Oh wait....cough, cough....kidding. No really, I'm still working the ole 2nd shift yet. On a side note, have any of you guys heard of Panther Hobby and Supply(or Supply and Hobby?) in Oak Creek. It's just south of Drexel on 13th....happens to be almost right around the corner from me(from our new house), but haven't been able to stop in and check it out.

What did you see on the road today?
The70judgeman replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
A 1961 Ford Galaxie. Light blue(powder blue) with matching steel wheels and dog dish hub caps. And, not "on the road", but down the road from my new house...peaking out from all the stuff piled on top of it in a garage a 1970 Dodge Challenger. I could only see the passenger side headlights and half of the grille. -
@Art- I think I figured out the "secret", but I'm not going to ask or post what I think it is. I'll just wait and see like the rest of us.

On the way home from the new house I saw a Pro-street '68 Road Runner or GTX and at a light next to me there was a '71(?) Road Runner. Oh yeah, and a brand new Corvette Stingray going the other way in yellow...was hard not to see that one. -
Not a contest or a show, but more of an annual event. As many in the Milwaukee and Stallis area already know about, what I call "The Annual Super Sunday Sale" at Model Empire held on the first Sunday of December, has changed this year. It will be Sunday November 2nd...now "The December in November Sale." As per the past, I'm pretty sure the sale starts(doors open) at 12PM, so be early and get in line! There was over 100 people in line last year hours before the doors opened. This is essentially your 2 month notice.

Airbrush and Air Compressor
The70judgeman replied to Old Gasser's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Buying whatever compressor is up to you. The only thing I'd add to it, if it doesn't come with them, is a moisture trap and a regulator. Blowing dry air through an airbrush is essential. And, the regulator, well...for fine detail paint work, you'll be plenty happy with the ability to turn the PSI down for that. -
Thanks guys!

Sorry...mowers...yes, but only one of each and I guess I would be the "landscaper." Our lot is just under a 1/2 acre and there's a culvert in front that I don't think I can use the rider in.
-
Got my replacement parts for my airbrush in the mail today. And, yesterday my wife and I got the paperwork signed and got the keys to our new house! Yes, we're homeowners now.

Thanks guys. Well, got too involved with the locks and sidetracked with a couple of other things. So, no pics yet. It'll have to wait till this weekend when I take the rider and push mowers down to cut the grass.
-
Well, it's official! As of about 12:10PM yesterday(Wednesday) my wife and I became homeowners! But, as I described above, we're having the hardwood floors redone first starting today and that'll take approximately a week. So, the big move will have to wait and that will give me a little time to figure out when I'll use my vacation to do it. I'm going down there today to change the locks and the floor guy is getting right to it. I'll post a picture or two of the house tomorrow night after I get home from work.
