Welcome Dean from Milwaukee...but hopefully for not much longer!

Pretty cool looking rims.

Like it was said before, Pontiac didn't make a "small block" or Big block." They are, well...a Pontiac block. Ranging from 326-455...it's all internal bore & stroke blah blah blah. But, to answer the question about a '72, the GTO came with a 400, 455, or 455HO. Your choice what to call it. In '72, the GTO was nothing more than an option on the LeMans line again with your choice of the 3 engines, the Tranny, and Pontiac added the GTO stickers, yes...stickers. No more emblems. I had a '72 LeMans that looked like a GTO with the Endura Bumper, RA Hood, & Fender Extractors('72 only), but my car had a 350 2BBL and Turbo 350 Tranny. But anyway, like Joseph said, if you're going to swap the engine for a better looking one, I would opt for the one from the '68 Firebird. It's already a 4BBL that would be correct. The engine from the '66 GTO kit is a Tri-Power(what Pontiac calls it) and is incorrect for anything after '66. '66 was the last year for that, so you'd have to come up with a single carb intake and carb for it. Oh, and both of those kit engine are 1/25th scale. Hope some of this info helps.

Here are a couple more from ebay this past week. The first one is my second "Road Warrior" kit. It's an open kit, but everything is there. Going to use the big 'n little BF Goodrich tires I bought from Chief Joseph awhile back. Need to get another set for the other kit. And, the second kit is one I don't remember seeing on the shelves, but I got it for about $25 shipped. The Dick Landy '68 Dart GTS w/figure.

Landcruiser Trayback
The70judgeman replied to Shoey's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Stumbled across this WIP...I don't get down here in the truck section much. Blown away with this one! Fantastic scratch building and talent! Can't wait to see the end result. -
Looks fantastic Marcos! Congrats on being on the MCM cover and the story with it too!
-
I'm lovin it!

Looks great! Just got one off of ebay. Just one question though...where did you get the correct rear wheels? My kits, I have two now, have the same patterned rear wheels as the fronts...only they're wider and deeper.

1968 Pontiac Firebird Sprint - UPDATE 7-4-2014
The70judgeman replied to Exotics_Builder's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Totally missed this one. Looking really sharp! Like the OHC Sprint 6 too! -
What kit(s) have a TH 400 in them? Thanks
The70judgeman replied to twopaws's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Revell's 1/25th scale '72 Cutlass Supreme and '72 Hurst Olds have them as an optional tranny. And, they are separate from the engine block in two halves and a pan. -
Finally got the second package today so I can post this stuff. Ok...some bargains off of ebay. First is a '67 Plymouth GTX including the extras...Detail Master wired distributor and fuel/brake lines. Model Car Garage aluminum radiator caps, under hood insulation, & '67 GTX detail kit. From the same seller, 2 '67 Dodge Coronet R/T's with Detail Master wired distributor & fuel/brake lines. Model Car Garage aluminum radiator caps, SS mesh, brass mesh, tie wraps, window cranks, seat belt material, & '67 Dodge Coronet R/T detail kit. ALL of that for less than $60 shipped. And from another auction...'70 Chevy Chevelle SS, '70 Dodge Challenger T/A, '71 HEMI 'Cuda, and finally a Hummer H1. Those four were $37 shipped. All kits, except the 'Cuda, were open boxes but sealed bags inside. The 'Cuda is still factory wrapped. I have a couple more kits on the way, so as soon as I get those I'll get them posted as well.

@Tim- That's Chief Joseph's site.

@Steve- The firebox bricks were taken out of that Big Boy and were reused in the Milwaukee Road 261 when it was first restored...which is recently back on the rails after a couple of years off for a boiler rebuild and other mandatory work. Just a bit of useless trivia on the fire bricks. But anyway, I guess the big question is...is Big Boy 4014 going to be restored as a coal burner, or converted to oil burning? UP tried the oil burning conversion on 1 or 2 Big Boy's way back when, but it was too inefficient and converted it/them back to coal. I know UP Challenger 3985 is oil burning and it works, so maybe with the same newer technology they'll do the same on the Big Boy.

@Carl- Thanks....those kits with the DM & MCG detail sets were cheap! ALL of that stuff shipped for way less than half the price of buying it all at a store. Plus, I scored some more last night with the detail sets. Should get them by the end of the week and another 4 kit bundle as well. I'll post all that later once I get them. Great deals this past weekend!

NASCAR vs other race series
The70judgeman replied to sjordan2's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Back when NASCAR(Nextel Cup at the time I think) went to Japan(a road course) for 2-3 years, they ran rain or shine...and it did rain one year. They did have "rain" tires. Also, they had to add a windshield wiper and a brake light to the cars...per Japan rules. -
Thought I'd get this posted before I forget everything. Got all of this stuff over the last week from a LHS and ebay. From LHS- PT-17 Stearman and Floquil paints. The Blue and yellow are for the Stearman(USAAC Trainer). From ebay- '71 Dodge Charger...was supposed to be a new kit, but it was open(open box, but sealed inside ok with me) and started. Totally misrepresented by the seller and got a refund on that one. -'71 Plymouth GTX(open box, sealed inside) -Dodge Sidewinder(open box, sealed inside) -'70 GTO promo -'71 Plymouth Satellite(open box, sealed inside) with Detail Master fuel/brake lines, wired distributor, Model Car Garage seat belt material, under-hood insulation material, & wire looms as a package. -'71 HEMI 'Cuda(sealed) with Detail Master wired distributor, Model Car Garage '71 HEMI 'Cuda photo etch detail set, seat belt material, metal cast alternators, & bolt hood details as a package. -And finally, Firebird Decals '70 'Cuda Hockey Stick Stripes in various engine displacements.

@Charlie- Actually, I believe you could still get Rally I's in '67, but the Rally II's were the more popular choice of buyers in '67 probably because they were "new". That was the last year they were available.

Picked up the '49 Merc at Walmart for $19 last Sunday mostly for the engine for possibly something else, and it was cheap. And the Johan '77 Cadillac Coupe De Ville promo with original box off of Ebay. Just a couple of wear spots on the body and chrome, but the glass is clear.

1970 cuda dog dish caps
The70judgeman replied to freakshow12's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Yes the Charger hub caps would be wrong...Dodge caps. You need Plymouth. The hub caps from the '70 Roadrunner kit(older Mongram) are 1/24th and the Revell '70 'Cuda kit is 1/25th. Offhand, I can only think of a couple resin casters that may have what you need...Missing Link & Modelhaus perhaps. I'm sure there are a couple more that others will mention. Good luck. -
Rare GMP GTX, Updated 5/29 Roadrunnger
The70judgeman replied to Porscheman's topic in Diecast Corner
Although I collect the GMP/ACME GTO's, I do have one Plymouth Roadrunner. Besides being black, it has the black steelies with removable poverty caps(magnetic). -
A new "voice" for the Ram. Engineered by Mufflex to, hopefully, bolt right in. All stainless steel Magnaflow muffler, SS extension pipes welded on, SS hangers, and SS clamps. From end to end is the size of the muffler that is on the truck now. Just the new muffler is 14", then the extension pipes to make up the difference.

Oh well...I know I've mentioned it before, I meant to attend meetings in the past and now my present job prevents that. Working 2nd shift killed that for me. Great show though. Was my first and I'll be there next year for sure.

Is that posted on the AMG forum site? Didn't see it there.
