  1. Did you run into Casey? He usually makes the sale too.
  2. That's it Ben!?! Kidding. Good thing I didn't go. I would have spent over $100 easily and filled a couple bags. I still have untouched stuff from last years sale. However, like Charlie, I also took advantage of the Scale Finishes Thanksgiving Weekend Sale. Heck, saving $3.50 a bottle works for me, and "always free shipping", AND got almost all the colors I wanted...even one I wasn't looking for. All for future Plymouth, Dodge, and a Buick projects. Plymouth- J5 Sublime Green K2 Vitamin C Y1 Lemon Twist Dodge- B5 Bright Blue C7 Plum Crazy Purple HEMI Orange...for engines of course. Buick- Q Saturn Yellow
  3. Looked at the kit box today and it says one set of pad printed tires included...one side is the Polyglas GT and the other side is the red line. Don't know if the retooled, and nicely treaded, tire was used.
  4. Two copies of the new Revell '70 HEMI 'Cuda ($21.59 ea. @ Model Empire) and a Fred Caddy '70 'Cuda decal set(#286) with various engine displacements(340, 383, 440, & HEMI) "Hockey Stick" stripes(in black & white). Now, I have to find my AMT Duster(for the 340), pirate a 440 from one of my Charger kits, and get a Ross Gibson resin 383...and another 2 'Cuda kits later. Scale Finishes will be getting an order soon too probably.
  5. Today, the Revell '32 Ford 5-window 2'n 1 Special Edition...50% off with coupon at Michael's, so it was $13.00 + tax. Also, made a bulk purchase a week or two ago at Model Empire...needless to say, I am set on Goodyear Polyglas GT tires for muscle cars for quite some time. Got a 5% discount on that purchase.
  6. Sweet...BEEP-BEEP!
  7. BB/pellet guns, smash up derby's, out the 2nd story window, sunk model ships in a lake, fire crackers....the list goes on. Even made a "rocket car" with the smallest model rocket engine. Obviously, that didn't last. All that time for the build-up and "engineering" to hold the rocket engine for a few seconds of fun....and done.
  8. Not a big fan of all the added, ahem, "stuff" on the Travolta T/A and the T/A from "The Jerk" , but aren't those basically the "Macho T/A's" without the decals?
  9. I've entered models in contests over the years. We had car shows during the summer at dealerships for years and some had model contests. I only entered once at a MOPAR show and got first and third place plaques. I entered a couple models at World of Wheels once and got a third place ribbon in "Adult Factory Stock" category. And, most recently, a couple of years ago, I won a third place plaque for "Adult Factory Stock" category at a local hobby store contest. The weird thing is, the first place plaque(at the car show), the third place ribbon, and third place plaque(hobby store contest) were all for the same car that, in my opinion, isn't that great of a build.
  10. Saw it at Model Empire today. Didn't look at the price though.
  11. Thanks Tim. Sound like I'll just have to wait like the rest of us! This one is a definite multiple kit purchase in different versions for me.
  12. Here's a stupid question. How do I, or did you, get on a list for advanced copies of models? I have a choice of two great hobby stores by me. One is a Revell preferred store(they get Revell kits when they're released...usually mid to almost late in the month) and the other is a distributer that Revell seems to get new releases to them the following month(2-3 weeks after general release dates). But, the distributer store has much better prices which usually I wait for. I'd love to get a head start on everyone else sometimes.
  13. Well Casey...I guessing the show was pretty much as it usually is, but did you score some deals or.....? I know you always find something. Or, anyone else that went? I keep checking the "What I Got Today" thread. @Casey- Even though I didn't go to the show, I should have met you there in the parking lot for the parts trade and save us both the postage. Hopefully I'll make it to the January show.
  14. Glad you finally finished this one Doc. Turned out great! I remember the vids over on youtube of the build-up, what seems like now, waaay back!
  15. Great details...weathering, concept, AND the open rear wing window. Fond memories of the one my family had, a dark green '71 Gold Duster with the Slant 6.
  16. Temp to hire 2nd shift, with odd start time, bagger, forklift operator, stocker, and loader at a nationally known pre-mix bagged/bulk concrete/mortar facility...for now. Hopefully, I'll get hired on permanent and get all the OT I'm missing. I could have doubled what I've already made so far, but I can't even consider buying any models right now. Hey, you take what you can get sometimes.
  17. Is it a gas or TDI? I was planning on buying a Passat TDI earlier this year till my dads truck went south on me. So, the TDI idea went bye-bye, the truck and my Sonata went bye-bye too...post #327. I was looking forward to getting close to 40 mpg in about the same size car as my Sonata and use the truck for towing my trailer and bad winter weather. And now, of course, Ram is coming out with a small turbo diesel V-6 for the 1500! But, I'm pretty happy with what I got.
  18. That is some very realistic weathering you've done. Looks very similar to the one where I use to work.
  19. Although mine was a sedan, a '93 SE, your model brings back some great memories of that car. Mine was all white, including the rims...like Charlie said, kind of rare as most rims were painted aluminum(silverish) and clear-coated. I like how your model turned out, but having owned one, I see a few things that you may want to correct. All of the key slots, no matter what color the car was, should be black. The second is the reverse light...it's the lower inner square part of the taillight...the turn signal(lower longer lens) should be yellow. They were red after that some time into production. And finally, the engine block should be black as it was a paint cast iron block not aluminum. That one would be hard to change now that the model is put together. If I can find the picture, I could post it here if you need a little reference. All in all though, it's really sharp!
  20. ...or even those new Honeycomb's.
  21. Probably won't make the Model Empire sale either. So, we'll have to figure out another time to meet up. I need to find 1 good paying job or 2 crappy paying jobs I can live with...1 full time and 1 part time. The one I have now has odd second shift hours and doesn't really afford the regular times to get a second job.
  22. Went on the website...the Ward is restored and, like cargostar(Dave) mentioned, reunited and on display with Squad 51 and the Crown fire truck(from seasons 1&2). It cost approximately $50,000 to restore the Ward to as seen in the series. Oh yeah...it served in Yosemite Park until it was donated back to the museum. Go to the website for all the details, stories, and pictures if interested.
  23. No comment on the lack of a mirror? You're slipping Harry! All kidding aside...great looking model Andy. Love the color.
  24. There is. It's the "Contests and Shows" thread. People just need to post the info there for everyone to see. I just bumped a thread for a toy and model show on there.
  25. Well, for anyone still interested...I'm giving the thread a bump to the top as a reminder. Last show of the year in two weeks. Don't think I'll make it...no money, so why pay $5 to look and dream.
