Not really the biggest fan of early Lambo's, but you did some justice to this kit. Great color and it's like glass.

More tire parts paks?

AMT says they're available now, but I haven't seen them yet. Was just at Model Empire on Friday. -
Engine 51 resurrected
The70judgeman replied to Chariots of Fire's topic in Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Great looking build. Love the hoses in the back. Not sure if it still is, but the real fire truck went into active service in one of the National Parks out west, if I'm not mistaken, after the show series was over. So, it's most likely still around. One of my favorite shows as a kid and now have the series on dvd. -

Both sets of tires are tampo printed on both sides. One side with all the lettering and tire size(2 sizes, 4 each...L60-15 and F60-15) and the other side with Goodyear and Polyglas GT with no tire size for generic applications. I know I'm buying A LOT of them myself too. -

I saw AMT Velocity Stacks at Model Empire the last couple times I was there. But, that's about it so far. Oh yeah, they're not plastic either...aluminum. So, they didn't take the cheap route. Couldn't tell you the price though, but they're probably $2-$3 than most places there. -
Along the lines of the Revell Visible V-8, there is also a visible HEMI in a large scale as well. It was produced by Testors . I built it years ago, screwed up one part, as well as lost a spring or two(for the intake/exhaust valves) during assembly. So, I painted the "bad half" like the real engine and the other half is clear and functional. Oh yeah, it's motorized and has a sound chip too of an actual HEMI start-up and revs.

2014 Moebius Kit Announcements
The70judgeman replied to Art Anderson's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
It's about time on the tire pack for the Polyglas GT's! And finally...a new Pontiac kit! Based on past Moebius kits, that Ventura should be a gorgeous model. Yes Casey....there's my Pontiac excitement. -
A little trip to Model Empire and got a '69 Dodge Charger photo-etch set from The Model Car Garage and a Fred Cady #288 decal set of MOPAR Billboards and various engine displacements for air cleaners(just need the 426 HEMI Head decals) for a future '69 Dodge Daytona project.

I usually nip and clean up parts, detail paint, and assemble models in front of the idiot box in the living room. If I'm in the basement spray painting/air brushing I have the radio going just to have something to listen to besides the compressor. Someday I'll have a dedicated "work shop" for modeling.

I think it is sold out (per the website if I'm not mistaken). I may be going there this Friday, I can check and get back to you this weekend. Or, you can just call them. -
NOS Barn Finds - Sale Is Next Month
The70judgeman replied to Lunajammer's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Watched for about ten minutes and lost interest real fast. Especially with all the jaw-jacking and it being about all Chevy's. -

I used to live a few blocks south of the store myself, but now I'm only a few miles away. Still get there at least a few times a month...GN&H too(within 2 miles). -

I'll second that. Alex and the rest of the family are great people. They're prices are actually $3-$5 cheaper than most places. It's where I've been buying most of my kits over the last 20 years or so. They also have an online catalog, a yearly paper catalog, sell on Ebay and Amazon too. www.modelempireusa.com -
Great color choices for an early 50's car. Very similar colors for my Olds...if I ever get around to building it!

First Model - Revell Mini Cooper (photo update)
The70judgeman replied to Johnb43's topic in Model Cars
Great looking build as well as photography. Looks like you've been building all along. Had to throw this pic of my nephew in standing next to a Mini. He's about 6' 4" too. -
Looks good. Are you sure it's not the passenger side headlight bucket being slightly tweaked isn't the hood fitment problem? Edit: Oops, driver side(right hand drive).

Don't forget Baldwin Motion also probably used the COPO program and did transplants in Camaro's and Corvette's. Not sure, but I'd say not in Nova's though.

Actually GMP is long gone and the original named company is back...ACME. As far as value of the older 1/18th die-casts, and I'm guessing you're talking about GMP's, they rise and fall. I have about 10+ of the GTO's. That includes the original 1st edition 1970 Orbit Orange Judge. That particular model went up in value for a while, $300-$400 for a bit, but has come way down to just over original price. I think if you want a "valuable" GMP die-cast as a possible investment, you'd have to seek out the "Tom's Garage" or "test shot" preproduction cars and take your chances later on down the road to make money on them like a real collector car. They pop up on Ebay from time to time. I collect the GTO's, because I love them...in particular, the 1970. But, I've fallen behind on them and could easily spend $1000-$1500 just to catch up. Oh yeah, I have no plans on selling them...unless the prices skyrocket into the stratosphere and I don't see that happening anytime soon. Here is a pic of just 1/18th GMP GTO's (1970-72 and, '04(not a GMP) and '05) taken some time ago. I've added a few since.

Had to check those out and I'd have to say the cap definitely looks a lot better. Only thing is...I now have about ten sets of the Preston's. Was adding a few more to my stock/inventory. The black sets sell fastest. They are cheaper than M.A.D. sets and I don't have to pay shipping. My other choice at Model Empire is Detail Master...if they have them. I'll probably buy a couple sets from M.A.D. to get a better look at them and try them out. Thanks for the heads-up Nick.

Went to Model Empire this morning and picked up 3 spark plug sets(Preston's Parts), a pack of square tube styrene and a pack of I-beam stock, Revell '69 Dodge Charger Daytona, and finally the AMT Ghostbuster's ECTO-1A.
