What did you see on the road today?
The70judgeman replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
@Harry- Yep, that would be a '69. Over the last week or so I saw a '39 Chevy hot-rod, '56 Chevy(at the same house as the '39), '6? Cadillac sedan, and today a '70 Buick Skylark. -

@Andy- The Mel's Diner kit is HO, or1/87th, scale. You can get the kit to build or get it pre-finished. -
Merry Christmas to me!

I read both of Chris Kyle's books. His first book is "American Guns" for anyone that doesn't know, or is interested in another read by Chris. But, a movie about Chris might be interesting in itself. And Clint Eastwood directing...well he doesn't just take on any old movie.

Absolutely I'll post some pictures. It probably won't be for a bit. We've got some things to get done first besides pack and move. But, it'll get done!

So...what pleased me today? A very thorough home inspection on a house my wife and I are planning to buy with a great report. NO major issues. Only a few minor things that were recommended to make the house better in the long run. Like insulating the attic better, also insulate the tops of the foundation where the house is built off of, replace a few boards, a post, and a step on the deck...easy stuff to do. Everything else looked great according to the inspector. Now we have to wait a couple/few more weeks to close and we get the keys! Then the floors can get refinished and some paint on the walls. Hopefully this will be the last move. OH YEAH, I get to build a dedicated hobby room too!

@Joe- I have no idea yet. I actually had to strip the wax off the areas where I applied the decals. I also very recently bought the Mequiar's orbital drill attachment and wax made for dark and black vehicles. It uses 4" pads and should be easy to control. Just haven't used it yet, so I'll just have to be careful around the decals and ignore where the honeycomb details are. Don't know if you can see that in the cruddy pics I took though.

Thanks guys. Inspection went really well today. No major issues at all. The house is in very sound condition for 50 years old. Just some better insulating is recommended in the attic and around the top of the foundation perimeter where the house is built from. Heating/AC is in great condition. I even roughly measured out for the model room which will end up being around 10'x14' and there is a window to vent a paint booth out through. Even though the entire basement is mine to do what I want with, except where the laundry machines will be, I want the "hobby room" closed off from the rest of the area. But anyway, we're hoping to close by the end of the month, get the keys, and start the floor refinishing and painting before we actually move in. The rest of the little stuff can be done over time. So, that's where we stand right now.

Thanks Nick. We were hoping to head out west more between western Waukesha County and Madison, but things for that plan didn't pan out. The house we're currently looking at is actually in Oak Creek. So, with that location and possibly a new job in the future, I'm really not that far from where the meetings are.

@Corey- About what time were you there today? I believe I was there around noon today.

Well, things are changing for me and the wife...and fast. We put a cash offer in on a house, they countered, and we accepted. Tomorrow is the home inspection and we're going to be there, also so we can snoop around a little more. If all goes well we should close at the end of the month. THEN, after we have some work done and settle in, for me, I'll start to construct a dedicated model building room. And, also a seek out a new job closer to home with better hours(1st shift this time). So then, hopefully, I should be able to get to AMG meetings as well and join in on some of the fun and meet some of you guys.

Stopped in at Model Empire today. My favorite Lambo on clearance. For that price...heck yeah! Complete kit like new. Built one as a kid...hopefully I can get the doors to work this time. And, the Mustang for something a little different for me.

I got fantastic weather today so I could get my vinyl decals on my Ram. Like I said in an earlier post, they're matte black for a subtle look. So, here you go Carl! The only thing I can think of that would make them cooler is if they were reflective like they did back in the '60's & '70's.

@Carl- Will do, but when...I don't know. Hopefully the weather will cooperate this upcoming weekend. Truck doesn't fit in our garage and I guess you're not supposed to apply vinyl decals in direct sunlight . Hopefully no rain either.

For the 1:1 and a subtle look...matte black HEMI Hockey Stick bed stripes with the honeycomb detail to match the front grille. Let the "black-out" begin! And yes, my Ram is already black.

@Bruce- The MASH Ambulance is a Dodge truck...leftovers from WWII. Also based on the Power Wagon of that vintage. I just saw one last week at Model Empire on the shelf. So, they actually can still be had reasonably. It also comes with figures...A doctor(Hawkeye or BJ Honeycut), Klinger, and a wounded soldier. And yes, I think it is 1/35th.

There's also a link to a website on the box to a video of them destroying the dies...autoworldhobby.com/TrueLE It's also on YouTube as well.

@William- The filings are encapsulated in the circular plastic coin sized protector. Tried to highlight them with my computer screen behind the box. @Harry- Each car is individually serialized too, but I don't know what the number is. I'm guessing it's printed on the bottom of the car. I'd check, but the package is still sealed and I don't want to break that at the moment.
