Those Plymouth's make a really nice alternative Hot Rod to the more common '40 Ford. This one is owned by a guy I deer hunt with. It's a '40 Plymouth with a Dodge 318 ci and a late model Chrysler LHS seats.

Love the paint. Nice and smooth.

I know who you're talking about. Met up with him there a few months ago and bought some very well casted resin GM truck rims from him. Don't think he'd bend my arm like that. But hey...I don't have the job yet, so I can't help anyone yet!

Thanks Nick. And, yes it is. Been going there for almost 20 years. Thanks Mike. I know what you mean. Gotta keep the bills paid first. I've got plenty of kits to work on already, and I don't want to take advantage...well not too much!

Thanks Bob. Yeah, it probably won't be much more than minimum wage, but I have to start getting some money in. Everyone knows that bills don't stop, because you don't have a job. I know what you mean! I've had my eye on a few for a while now.

Although I'm STILL looking for a full-time job...was at a LHS(Model Empire USA) today. Got some Tamiya thinner, the new AMT tire set, and possibly a part-time job there...they offered. No benefits, but an employee discount. We'll see on Monday. At least it would be some money coming in. So, if I do and you send in an order, I may be the one who packed and shipped it to you.

Revell's 1/24 '77 4x4 GMC Truck
The70judgeman replied to tooltas's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
I asked about it late last week at a LHS (prefered Revell dealer) and was told it's late being released, but they are on order. They usually start getting the current months releases in the second week. -
RIP Broadway Bob
The70judgeman replied to wisdonm's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
A message from Arnie "The Farmer" Beswick on facebook: I must offer my sincere condolences to the family and let you know that I knew “Broadway Bob” Metzler as long as probably anybody that ever raced at Great Lakes Dragaway, having started there shortly after the track opened in 1957. Broadway was the promoter of all promoters. If you don’t believe me, watch his “Evening with Broadway” video. There’s also video of me running against a jet car. I ran against them all at his track from Stockers and Super Stockers to other funny cars and yes, even jets at Great Lakes! After all, other than the US Nationals, there wasn’t any other Midwest track that got Wide World of Sports to come to their events! On March 14, 1996, it was my distinct honor to be his presenter at the International Drag Racing Hall of Fame in Ocala, Florida, an honor that I won’t forget and neither did he. ... In the 90’s, when he was riding the jets, I was always booked in too. I was there to race against some of the biggest names in the sport like “Dyno Don” Nicholson and Ronnie Sox. I was probably one of the last racers to see him alive, having done so only a couple of days before the news of his death. Even then his smile and greeting of, “Ah-nee, Ah-nee” made me glad I had made that little effort to see him that last time. Bob Metzler will always be a legend in my eyes and I can’t help but wonder if he’s trying to get St. Peter to open those gates for a fraction less than it would cost for you or I. I will miss you Broadway Bob. There will never be another like you…ever. -
Thanks Mark. I think the first time I saw McQ was on TCM. Right after that I bought the dvd, so I could enjoy it over and over. I was only 4 when that movie came out, but the cars from around then and before are what I like to see. But, I think you're right on the Caddy. But the one nobody has mentioned yet is the green Plymouth Satalite or Dodge Coronet (which one it is escapes my memory). Does anyone know which one it was and year? I think the Johan Police Car might work if it's the same year. As far as the movie Brannigan...I haven't heard of it. Like I've said before, John Wayne is not one of my favorite actors to watch. I just happened to catch McQ by accident and it was the Trans Am that got me to watch. It's just a shame cars like that or any car from back then were destroyed like that. But, I guess it's like wrecking a Honda or Toyota now a days. They're plentiful.

Just out of curiousity and if you don't mind, PM me if you'd like...how much did you pay for the '82? I've had my eye on one for some time and was wondering if the price marked is in the ballpark for that kit.
-
Pretty cool. I'm working on a generic unmarked squad myself from the same kit.
-
Thanks Russ. No, I didn't know Wayne was offered the Dirty Harry role, but yes, on the similarity of the two movie roles. To me, being a Pontiac fan, the car was more of the star in the movie...till they killed it . It's on my short list for a "wanted" vehicle to own. But, a model is probably the closest I'll get thanks to "rich" people driving the prices so high.

What Slows Down Your Builds?
The70judgeman replied to slusher's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Mood, painting bodies, and summer weather. We only have AC in the bedroom...so we can sleep. Don't think the wife would let me set up shop in there. -
Thanks Kevin. Thanks Pat.
-
I'm thinking about watching it again soon too. Thanks Craig! Thanks Chris!
-
Thanks! I never was much of a John Wayne fan and I'm still not, but I really like the movie. At least check it out once.
-
Thanks Carl. Thanks Jon. I stumbled onto the movie by accident, can't remember when, but when I saw the T/A...that was it...until it got destroyed.
-
Thanks David. The "secret" compartment was pretty cool. A little too much for me to replicate though as I haven't successfully opened doors/trunks and hinged them yet.
-
Yeah...I went a little overboard. Just wanted some of the engine detail to come through. Thanks Jim. It turned out to be a great movie, and the T/A was one of the stars for me too. When it was smashed between the trucks I was like "NOOO...THEY KILLED THE CAR!!!" Yeah...what a waste. Don't know about a '73 Bel Air though in resin.
