LOL. I wish I had that skill. I'll bet it would be a huge seller. Of course, a 1/8 scale late 40's or early 50's Cadillac would be pretty cool, too. I remember when George Z was going to release a 1/12 or 1/8 scale '49 Merc. I was drooling over that one and had my order in.....then he passed away. I wonder what happened to those molds??????

HaHa. Great hubcaps, OH. Now, you gotta put in an old Caddy flathead V8.

Yeah, aren't they cool? I wonder if there's a kit for this one. We had a lot of different little tractors for working on the ranches back then. This one is a real survivor I guess. But as I remember, it didn't get used much...especially after most of the land got sold off for a small housing project. That sure paid better than plums and pears.

I like the color combo. It's not so heavy and "Darthy" like so many. I wonder if a set of those wheels and tires would fit under my '65 resto-mod Mustang vert????? Can you post the diameter of the wheel and the wheel/tire combo? That might be exactly what I'm looking for. Revell/Mono used to send replacement parts. I wonder if they still do? -
Good for you, OH! Good for you. It's very cool and if you like it, we already like it.

Growing up in northern California we would use the same 2X4 base with roller skates, but we had millions of "lug boxes" from the fruit ranches. We'd stand them up, put a piece of 1X2 across the top for handle bars, and awaaaaay we'd go. We had plenty of hills, but found out quickly that roller skate wheels would stick on every little rock in the road. Gave truth to "head over heels". Here's a recent pic showing about halfway up the hill to the house. Nothing like the San Francisco hills where my dad lived, but then....we didn't have any sidewalks or poles to grab hold of. I think we really needed some kind of rubber lawn cart wheels...but that would have made a whole new project. Good memories, Richard. Thanks. Hosted on Fotki

That's a great color. Of course, if you were driving it you woudn't get a mile down the road without being stopped. -
Don't feel alone, OH. I used to look at the sanding/polishing part as one of my best skills and I liked to perfect the finish as much as possible..........but now I hate doing it. My arthritis makes it hard enough, but the thought of sitting under a sink with water, paper, polsihing cloth, swabs, etc., etc. just makes me cringe. In fact, I have quite a few projects that have sat unfinished for years because I just cannot get myself to sit down and do the polishing. Yours looks like it will need some color sanding to knock down the orange peel, but hopefully it will level out a bit over the next few days. If you're not going to clearcoat it you did the right thing by putting plenty of paint on. Just be careful of those flat edges. Those old cars were actually pretty smooth because the workers actually cared and didn't want a lumpy panel to go out...and also because they used those old laquer paint formulas that laid down and dried pretty well. So, you're a little bit up against it since yoou have put so much into the rest of the build. Put a stick of wood between your teeth and grind....err...polish...your way to model heaven.

Hermit; Generally paint will wrinkle if it's applied a little too wet/heavy. Make sure you give all of your recent paint plenty of time to gas out and dry. You'll be good to go with a little polish....polishing pads. That top might be had to correct without a respray, though. What kind of paint is that up top?

He won't R.I.P. He'll be trying to find something to drive.....or build it himself. Man, did he give us some amazing cars. He and Lee Iococca should be bronzed and stood up for all to see and thank for things like this: Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki -
Really nice, Nicolas. REALLLLLY nice! Agree that you might need a wee bit more rubber on those wheels, though. That would be a harsh ride.

That is gonna be huge with that body. Yessir! But you're not gonna make it too shiny are you? Like it's been outa the barn for awhile?

Tulio; That's one of the best box stock versions of that '57 I've ever seen. Great job! Christian; Really nice complementary colors. Is that the Ivory on top or is it a white with a little pearl? Are you going to build it stock or a bit custom?
