  1. Try poking around here: http://www.ausrotary.com/index.php Also look for RX7 specific forums.
  2. See the quote below re another fellow that asked the same thing. While I am not running this build, I'd say anyone who is interested is encouraged to join. The guy who is "running" it doesn't appear to have posted since Feb.
  3. I've not had mine quite that long - well, one of them anyway. The other I forget. Actually getting to building them is another matter! That's nice and colorful!
  4. If you are building a rat rod, you can use any parts you like, so welcome to the build.
  5. It isn't easy to stick two Cadillacs together. I guess there must be differences between the models and the real thing. No way could I get one to sit inside the other. I could have finished another car in the time it's taken me to do this, and after all that, I have misalignment problems. I guess it's going to stay bent!
  6. That will be an extreme change in the size of the engine. Rotaries are so small! I'm starting with an AMT CanAm body. It's based on a real jet powered car that survives until today, although the model depicts it during it's very brief stint as an open top car. I will need to a fair amount of modification to it. For a start, my rear wheels are somewhat further back.
  7. And what's he going to do with the little tractor that comes with that kit? Fit ride-on mower blades and have a convenient back-up ride! I just took delivery of a large junkyard lot. It's condition is such that Post Apoc. is the only thing it is good for, which suits me fine. I'd have trouble recreating some of the messes that these things are currently in. This one, however presents a unique challenge, and an interesting idea. The remainder of the body and chassis were present in the box in the form of mouse droppings. Yes, it has been eaten! Now all I need to do is add a little gore here and there, and touch up the mouse teeth marks in metal color, and the thing below will have something to feed on!
  8. Here we go again! I bought the tractor at least a month ago, probably two. The Ford I bought the same day as the Henry J, in other words, on the day I got back into model building. And inspired by Mad Max, obviously. Was gathering bits for this for a while too.
  9. Dang, the last thing I need is more inspiration. "To do" list is already too long.
  10. I'm not arguing the matter - just pointing out the photo. Personally, I didn't have any idea what the car was and submitted no guess.
  11. Our doors don't open. Usually our trunks don't open. Sounds fine to me!
  12. This very car labelled as "Pontiac Torpedo Silver streak - 1948" in a different photo from the same shoot. http://commons.wikim..._1948_-_008.jpg
  13. So here's a start for mine. Dirty great powerplant ripped from one of those proper red sports cars.
  14. It would have to be a compound hinge, one that lifted the bottom while moving the top back - not unlike old garage doors. And onto my build: This has been an interesting modeling session - trying to give the driver somewhere to sit, and the engine somewhere to fit has resulted in the body getting shoved well back.
  15. It does sound like there is at least one person still keen on having his shot at it, so why not let him? If something like this is attempted again, perhaps it should be limited to three or four people, and done as a speed build, so it happens while there is still enthusiasm.
  16. Nope, I judged the guy before you! If you look back, at the messages properly, you will see that you were contacted after I made my comment, which does stand, because the bloke before you on the list still hasn't responded. In fact you were contacted because I made my comment.
  17. For the record, the original Mad Police Interceptor was a T top. I even opened one of mine up. And one of the four available models had a translation error on the box front. The "Farcon" is actually "Falcon"
  18. There in no restriction on the age, just on the style. I'm trying to avoid people building street rods! As long as it is aerodynamically styled, go for it.
  19. Well... this went down well, didn't it. Down all the way to the bottom of the page without a single reply. I think I'll go build a road warrior or something.....
  20. I've started! It is both a rat rod AND a spare parts build. I've finally built enough stuff to have spare parts! These bits are from the dual Model-T vintage/Drag Coupe kit, and as I have already made two cars using that kit, whatever is left over is fair game!
  21. Then I guess I don't need to ask you if you used a pencil sharpener!
  22. Ebay... of course! Be aware though, that as often as not, the ebay ones of these have been started/got at/parts lost.
  23. Apart from it needing a good dusting, I'm pretty much done. I wanted a minimalist look to it. Headlights stuff up the look I want, so it isn't getting any.
