  1. Nice work. The front hood reminds me of the camo they put on prototypes now.
  2. Yes. The whole redesign was an attempt for more safety, and more trunk space. The front end with the strut towers incorporates crumple zones into the fender wells. The spare tire lays flat in the trunk, which also serves as an absoprbtion device, and creates alot more trunk space. The Super Beetle also has better (stock) handling (in good condition) and a smaller turning radius.
  3. The big round "elephant foot" taillights are '73 and up. However the '73-75 Super with the curved windshield also has a different hood. (shorter, and the fresh air vents are in the cowl, 71-72 has a longer hood with vents in the hood) You would need to section the hood. And seeing as the Revell is 1/25 ish, and Imai is 1/24...
  4. If it's any consolation, those decklids don't fit that well on the Revell Beetle in the first place.
  5. If you're really ambitious, there should be a thin crome bezel between the taillight lens and the housing. European style lenses have and amber turn signal on the top, US will be all red.
  6. Looks like an armoured car, to me.
  7. I'd like to get this and the old Rabbit kits, as well. My friend had a Scirocco we called "The Trash Compactor", but that was more about him than the car. He would never clean it, and trash, mostly food wrappers and cans woud pile up in the back. Moving the seats, and then sliding them back, to let somone in the back seat would crush the trash
  8. The Revell kits are a '68. They're pretty rough, and not an easy kit to make look good. Nice work.
  9. Can you section the center of the Revell decklid onto the Tamiya? You'll need to switch the licence plate lights, too.
  10. For painting the taillight housing, I would jam clay in the back, and then mask off the lens portion. Oh, looks good BTW. Not many build them stock.
  11. I have a few Jada VW's. While nicely built, I don't think their scaleing system is entirely accurate
  12. Nice work. If you didn't show the toy, I would've assumed it was a kit. I build alot of custom toys, too. Its like modeling with things never meant to be taken apart.
  13. I love their 70's-80's work. I have the original Casablanca versions of Rock and Roll over and Double Platinum on vinyl. My earliest memories of Kiss is, "Kiss Meets the Phantom of the Park", and beeing a kid in Gemco and asking for the Mego figures and my mom refusing.
  14. I've done quite a bit more work, and the car is pretty much done. Maybe a little more weathering and finishing up the figures. I forgot to add these at first, but it's the first page of the instructions. It would be cool if anyone could translate the "story". Also the decals. I put these in the window for two days to help bleach out the yellowing, and coated them with Future before using. I couldnt read the warning labels with the naked eye, but with a magnifying glass they are aircraft ejection seat labels...

  16. Looks incredibly realistic. Well done, sir.
  17. Nice. Looks showroom fresh! The only thing missing is the window sticker.
  18. Yeah, and windy.
  19. For future use. I've got a releativly small stash compared to some of the stories I've heard, about 30. For the most part, I got them while the getting was good.
  20. I think that is a late 60's Skyline.
  21. Here's some of what I got doen. I did more after this, but didn't take a picture. I'm nearly done with the car.(still working on the figures) I've added spotlights, mirrors and have done the decals. Here's a stock police car for comparison.
  22. Nice work. I grew up with my parents '72 Celica.
  23. Yeah, I did a wash on the center grill, and pinted the side ones black and went over the bars with silver. I kinda messed up on the edge, it wasn't defined really well, and the paint kinda wandered a bit.
  24. Looks like it could be a model to me! You're best bet to ID this is checking it over for any tradmark markings, second to that ,the google image matchign thing, I've no idea how to use it though. Europe is home to many car brands and models Most Americans aren't familiar with or don't even know about. Renault, Peugeot, Daihatsu, Seat... To me it looks like the nose of a Peugeot 405 and the back end of a Suzuki Jimny with custom t-tops, but that can't be right.
