  1. That came out real nice. The color combo sounds weird but looks killer.
  2. The British racing green one, I originally bought at a LHS when I was probably 13. I restored it about 3 years ago, and found some suitable decals last year. The olive drab one I got off ebay last year with Christmas monies. New in box from China.
  3. Nice work. My brother in law used to have a Lexus IS300, he just traded it in for a Huyndai Genesis .
  4. And, here's some side by side comparison shots:
  5. I guess my Destroyer II is wrapped up. Could use some more weatehring, but looks like it just needs a wash as-is. I took some side by side photos with the first Destroyer, and it kinda makes the weathing on that one look bad.
  6. That's a repeat offender for me. Usually why even when I set out to build somethign nice, it ends up weathered.
  7. Those came out really good. I like the "lawn mower". Good for anti-personell, or clearing traps. Teh armored car is nice, the only thing that gives it away as a toy is the gun still looks a little plain.
  8. Nice! Looks just like somethign from extended universe, or Old Republic.
  9. Great work! The built in ducktail spoiler looks like something off a late 90's Caddillac or something, though...
  10. Congrats on the ride! Mk1 & 2 GTIs are classics now, take care of her. The window seals are the weak spot on cars this old. Most of the ones I've seen in Califonia are shot, and invite rust, even in California! Love the factory BBS wheels on those. If you want a cool factory style steering wheel, the older Porsche wheels from that era (924,944,928, 911) will bolt right on. There's always clapped out 924/944s in the wrecking yards here. The Scirocco steering wheels are cool, too.
  11. I just noticed the wheels look like the Hot Wheels 'Ultra Hot' wheels:
  12. I have the Gunze Sangyo GTS kit, and I still have the box, I use it to store 1/24 figures. I remember the gold stripe decals were very unforgiving, so I did some wacky fade paintjob (midnight blue to lime green) on it when I first learned how to use an airbrush. The tires are split (I have three different GS kits from the 80's and the tires all split) and its sitting in a box waiting for somethign to happen.
  13. I saw this on JNC, I'm not registerd, but I do some lurking there. Pretty good for your first attempt, but also sounds like you had your share of trouble. Your hand painted details are well done. The basic rules of spray painting I've found are: Don't spray anything in direct sunlight if it's hot. Warm up your can, by either leaving it in the sun for a few minutes or running it under the hot tap. (make sure its dry when you paint, so nothign drips off, though) Always go in light coats, and always spray in a moving motion, if you stop you will get globs. Start 'before' one side, and finish 'after' you go past the model, dont aim & spray at the model.
  14. The paint looks great, and it certainly isn't a played out color combo.
  15. Nice paint and photography skills. Can't even tell that was a toy Merc now.

    Buggy

Yes, it is. I don't think the re-issue states that, though.
  17. Nice job, and wheels.
  18. I had forgotten about the hood closing properly. . The body kit doesn't fit worth a damm, btw. Thefitment issues, and some paint mishaps led me to build a weathered version.
  19. I think the key is the Floor Care FINISH and avoid orange scented CLEANER. Read your labels!
  20. Looks good so far. The grill emblem on GTIs are black. At least on the old ones, anyway.
  21. Sharp. Is this the 1/20th kit that's currently available? I've been looking for one, but in 1/24th to use as Dead End.
  22. I've seen those weird taillight spacers before. They are used because they use the regular 68-72 fender which doesn't have the hole for the big 73 and up taillight. The African 1600 is new to me, though. Or I didn't remember...
  23. I was thinking the same thing...
