I saw this on JNC, I'm not registerd, but I do some lurking there.
Pretty good for your first attempt, but also sounds like you had your share of trouble. Your hand painted details are well done.
The basic rules of spray painting I've found are:
Don't spray anything in direct sunlight if it's hot.
Warm up your can, by either leaving it in the sun for a few minutes or running it under the hot tap. (make sure its dry when you paint, so nothign drips off, though)
Always go in light coats, and always spray in a moving motion, if you stop you will get globs.
Start 'before' one side, and finish 'after' you go past the model, dont aim & spray at the model.
