2nded. The IMC kit is worse than the Revell Beetles. I was given one to rebuild, but havn't touched it because of the work involved just to fix the way it looks. I'd rather build a Tamiya one. And to Bill. Nice work on the conversion. I'm unfamiliar with the Hasegawa Beetle, but I know they have quality kits. Can't wait to see the finished version.

I wouldn't trust that lawnmower bot going up my sleeve. -
Nice job. I like the interior. The Mustang taillights were popular on these back in the day.

Nice work. You've been the only one poswting anything lately, too. I'm pretty sure that BMW isnt a BMW. Looks like some ham-fisted mashup of a Ferrari, Coba, and a Mercedes. Before you modified it, I mean... -

The Most Embarrassing Cars To Drive
Zarana-X replied to slusher's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
The Geo Tracker/Suzuki Sidekick is just the 2nd generation Samurai. They renamed it after the whole Consumer Reports Slander/Scandal. Overseas they are both know as a Jimny. (too similar to GMC Jimmy) -
The Most Embarrassing Cars To Drive

I just saw a convertible Murano a few hours ago. Hideous! I think at some point Nissan and Toyota had a challenge on who could make an uglier car, and Toyota gave up after they retired the ugly last generation Celica. Nissan has been carrying the flag ever since. The Juke, Murano, and the Q35 looks like a running shoe. From their list, I would actually like to have a Subaru Brat/Baja. -
Airborne Semi Bursts Into Flames

That had to include a change of underwear. Also, on CHiPS, whenever you see a Mustang or a Beetle, you know its gonna get wrecked. -
69 VW Bug ... 66 to 69 Bug 8/24/17 Fotki update
Zarana-X replied to Foxer's topic in WIP: Model Cars
On a full size collector, the ends of the pipes have a pie cut, and the notched portions help taper the end of the collector. Replicating this may help get the end of your collector and the muffler flange to a more manageable size. -
Revell Germany VW Beetle 1500 (Limousine and Cabriolet)
Zarana-X replied to Luc Janssens's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
What Don said^. The convertible looks correct for a '70. but the sedan looks like a "backdated" custom. Eg, '70 car, '67 front fenders, with '60's turn signals, taillights and bumpers, & lowback seats. . -

Box Stock Hasegawa '72 Toyota Celica Road Racer

Nice work! The headlights look really good. I have the Nippon Grand Prix version, next up on my bench. It's basically a stock car kit with all the parts to convert it to a race car, also. My parents had a '72 when I was growing up. I want to get the other versions of this kit eventually. www.japanesenostalgiccar.com is a good site to see pics of these old Japanese cars. -
Nice, clean build! The stripe reminds me of the graphics they used on some of the 70's special editions.

Cool. I wanted to see somone attempt this, never saw the other one. Headrests are usually removed for movie cars so you can get an unobstructed view of the actors, its the same reason many road trip movies use convertibles, too. Blowers are used in place of the air filter assembly. They aren't intended for street use. The blower sits on top of the carburator assembly, above the supercharger.

I think Tamiya did a large scale Manx buggy along time ago. That's kinda pricy, though and you've done most of the chassis work. Mayby you can find a suitable toy body to modify, or recast?

That paint looks fantastic! Nice work all around.

Heat. Heat is bad. Mmmkay.

That's a bummer. The glass magnifies the heat. Ask Aussie Muscle about it sometime... -
Stupid things we do.

I've done most of these. The wrong spray paint can, painting your palm, gluing yourself to yourself, or the model... One of the worst things I regret, is when I was 14 or so, and didn't know there was a future in fixing glue/paintbombs I Godzilla stomped a bunch of models I would like to have/restore today; Revell's Capt Hook Wrecker, Toyota 4x4 with the camper shell, fox body Mustang that came with the jet skis, Monogram's 1/20 Corvette with the body kit and a couple of others. -
Looks great. Period correct street buggy. I'm sure there's a real one similar to this with Ford wheels like that on adapters or drilled drums.

This is turning out very nice. Paint work looks very good.

2012 POST APOCALYPSE/ZOMBIE HUNTER COMMUNITY BUILD
Zarana-X replied to Dr. Cranky's topic in Community Builds
That's a very nice armoured car, Wayne. It's stuff like this why I'm still hanging on to all my 1/35 armor junk and accesories. It should be compatible with a 1/32 car without too much fuss, but its way off for 1/24-1/25 for my taste... Currently, all I have 1/32 is 3 different funny cars, which I'm not sure how that would work out . I used to have an awesome mid 70's Trans Am, I think it was a Monogram. had opening hood, rubber tires and such. One of the best 1/32 cars I can recall. I still have the wheels. -
Nice Job! I've seen the real car in person a few years ago, and it's not been taken care of. The only thing I would suggest is a wash on the chassis & engine to bring out the detail. A gloss black wash on chrome wheels adds some realistic depth to the chrome.
