  1. "Word usage changes over time. The language is constantly evolving". I believe these are very close to your words somewhere on this forum, fairly recently. When something becomes "common usage" for long enough, it becomes "accepted usage", and eventually "correct". T'were it not so, thy dictionary wouldst be filled with grunts, yea and gesticulations, and anything more sophisticated wouldst be deemed "incorrect". Dost thou not agree ?
  2. Just about my favorite old tractor. Beautiful truck.
  3. Mmmmm...hot dogs...Nathan's on Coney Island (no whitefish).
  4. I gots to take me some Valient to keeps from goin' inta cadillac arrest.
  5. Great project. Love the NASCAR racers from this time.
  6. In 1970, when Road Atlanta began hosting the ARRC (American Road Race of Champions, the season-ender for SCCA) I was heavily involved with building and prepping cars. I remember the C-sedan race was a gaggle of Mini Coopers and a few Alfa GTA Juniors. Great fun, close racing. But it was REAL racing, cars not streetable really, and they were out for blood. Vintage racing, for me, doesn't have the allure of the genuine article of my remembered glory-days. It's fun to see the old cars run around the track, but more often than not, it's kinda slow old geezers out for a showboat Sunday drive. Not exactly Jackie Oliver...though the last time I attended a vintage event, some of the competitors seemed to take it pretty seriously. Vintage racing over here shouldn't be affected much, if at all, by the proposed rule, but like I said...the camel's nose is attached to a great smelly camel. I'd hate to see old Datsun Z-cars, for example, forced to run those awful Zenith-Stromberg emissions carbs, retarded ignition timing and air-pumps...just because that was the EPA-certified setup at the time the cars were manufactured.
  7. Wild. Love it. Cooler that the Daniel design.
  8. OK, probably not of much interest to most of you, but if you're thinking of building your own real car, this is pretty cool. Back in the dim recesses of time, I used to do this stuff with 2-dimensional models made from balsa, pins and string. Reasonably accurate, but incapable of analyzing small changes quickly, and only worked in two dimensions. This is freaking magic compared to that, and it's cheap. Runs under XP, 7, or Vista. Similar stuff is available for rear suspension, chassis layout , etc. http://www.auto-ware.com/software/asgp/asgp.htm
  9. I believe it's a pre-war White. This is a '41... http://justacarguy.blogspot.com/2012/09/1941-white-semi-tractor-trailer-that.html
  10. My guess would be that Mr. Softee wasn't as popular with the... Never mind. Don't want to risk being banned.
  11. Just needs a thin vertical track immediately behind the B-pillar, and a stationary triangular window. Then the original front-door glass and regulator could work.
  12. I really like the look you've got going in the first shot. Perfect for hauling old longboards and riders.
  13. This babe decided to skip the middleman and get her own truck.
  14. I think the original usage of "design vocabulary" in architecture, as I understand it, made sense...from the standpoint of, let's say, understanding things like the differences in Ionic and Doric for instance, and being able to pick and choose classical elements to incorporate into a new design. I think it usually sounds like idiotic trying-too-hard when it's applied to vehicles. I don't really know what the hell styling "cues" was supposed to mean either. Seems like the term "styling elements" would encompass all the appropriate nouns, like "scoop", "fender flare" (NOT FLAIR !!!), "wheel-arch", "greenhouse", "belt-line", etc. Oh well. Monkey-hear, monkey-say.
  15. I guess girls everywhere go for the man in uniform.
  16. 91% or higher ISOPROPYL alcohol is said to be effective on some lacquers. It's really really cheap over here, and is available in grocery stores, pharmacies, etc. 70%, common "rubbing alcohol", is a good cleaner, but it doesn't have much effect on paints.
  17. "Shocking". It seems every other youboob video or news headline is somehow "shocking". Horrifically shocking. Awesomely epic. Forgot one: "savvy".
  18. That phrase made me remember these guys, always around just about everywhere... Apparently, a hit with the babes, too.
  19. Yeah, but will it help you get girls? The ad photo pretty well seems to guarantee the Amphicar will.
  20. Man, you're doing some cool stuff with this one. Remarkable you were able to get such a deep draw with your vac-form too. One of those is on my next-tools list. It blows the doors off of mine.
  21. For what it's worth, it appears to me to have pretty good proportions, as far as representing the overall impression of what it's supposed to be. I've spent a fair bit of time looking at 911 Porsches and their variants.
  22. Anyone here ever use these? if so, your opinions please.
  23. "Legendary" seems to be gaining ground too.
  24. The Dallara Icsunonove prototype is in a similar vein, and there is now a fair gaggle of autocrossers and hillclimb X1-9s that look similar too.
