"Asphalt" is often pronounced as "ASH-falt" for some strange reason.

Believe whatever any expert says, especially if he holds the most currently popular opinion, and avoid thinking for yourself or challenging "tribal knowledge" on the web.

"Create" sure has different meanings to different people.

Drag racing decals

Gofer Racing makes a bunch of sponsorship and stripe and number/roundel sheets. -
"Grave" makes me think of gravy and that makes me think of sausage biscuits and that makes me remember I haven't had breakfast yet.

Toys for adults can be anything from model cars and trains to full-scale drag cars and racing planes, boats, even tricked-out gaming computers or woodworking shops, and are all equally valid and appropriate interests... and to me, anyone who doesn't like "toys" is B O R I N G.

Word salad isn't effective communication, but it sure seems to be popular.

In the paint sector, it goes like this. Brands like Testors, Floquil, PollyScale, and several others were started as small businesses many years back, aimed directly at the model market, often BY modelers, in a time when businesses worked on the idea that if you make a good product, the money will come, and massive profit wasn't the primary goal. These smaller entities were absorbed over time by much larger companies, and recently Testors was gobbled up by Rustoleum, the same company that absorbed...and killed...both Floquil and PollyScale, loved by model railroaders. "In 2013, Testors discontinued the popular Floquil and PollyScale paints that had long been a staple of any model railroader’s workbench." "Founded in the 1930s by Nils Testor in Rockford, Ill., Testors’ glue and paint products have been a staple of the hobby industry for generations." Rustoleum is a manufacturer of a confused line of products aimed at the general DIY market, and apparently nobody in management knows or cares enough about the model market to continue producing products that probably contribute only a miniscule profit to their bottom line, so they kill them off...which kinda makes one wonder WHY they bought them in the first place. But according to Testors management, it's all OUR fault. "Spokesperson Vince Pierri said that demand for the discontinued brands has been on the decline for a number of reasons including aging demographics, (and) less interest among younger audiences." (But) "we will continue to support the hobby market with a robust line of aerosols, brush paints, tools and accessories and are always looking for opportunities to innovate in these categories,” he said. "Innovate"? Really? You already had the only buffing metalizer aerosol product on the market, as "innovative" as it gets, and you kill it. If I play, I'll most likely do a curbside of my '89 GMC longbed daily. She looks like something that shouldn't run, with the typical self-stripping GM waterbase fleet white from the late 1980s, which green moss has apparently developed a taste for. Where the paint is down to the primer, surface rust is coming through, and after a ditzy chick ran a light in front of me, the virgin bodywork isn't any more. The upholstery on what's left of the bench seat is a fender cover and a pink bath towel...but she has a brand new windshield and 4 fat M&S blackwall radials. It should be interesting trying to do her appearance justice.

Don't. Never put lacquer over enamel...and if you just HAVE to try it, DON'T do it on a model. TEST TEST TEST TEST and TEST SOME MORE. -
Music playing innocently in the background on a YT video can trigger copyright-violation reports by Karens who believe it's their mission in life to tell the teacher when anyone does something baaaaaaad, whether anything is the least bit negatively-impacted or not.

Do as I say, because I'm in a position of unearned authority, and it makes me feel important to tell people how to behave...especially when they have no power to fight back.

Cadillac 472/500?
Ace-Garageguy replied to Iraceitall's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
After seeing Can Con's post about modding a Ford to look more like the big Caddy, and pulling up some photos of the Caddy...with even exhaust port spacing and a front-mounted distributor...it kinda seems to me the hot setup would be to lightly massage a Ford and see if you can score a set of the Caddy valve covers from an Eldo. EDIT: Maybe...but I certainly have not researched this enough to really give any advice here, and I know essentially nothing about that generation of Caddy engine. -
Cadillac 472/500?

What about the supposed 472 in the later model Johan Caddys? I honestly can't recall the straight scoop on that one right off hand... -
