  1. If I had a dollar for every time I thought that...I could buy a few more models.
  2. Young and dumb, with ignorance worn like a badge of honor, seems to be a popular look; if you know nothing and know you know nothing, you have some hope to grow out of it.
  3. Dragstrip, sweet dragstrip, the fondly remembered most fun of my youth.
  4. Yup, Cadillac 1955-'62, 331-365-390 all externally pretty much the same. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cadillac_V8_engine
  5. Taste is in the mouth of the beholder.
  6. Love the model. Your extra touches like the fuel streaking on the tanks and grease on the fifth-wheel really add a lot to the impression of realism.
  7. Maybe require an SAT verbal score minimum? It's called "Evidence-Based Reading and Writing" now. Seems appropriate.
  8. Market exists for deep fried Mars bars, so why not something equally absurd?
  9. Are you going to eat those fries?
  10. Thread be like string, but not as fat.
  11. In the end, it all comes down to personal taste.
  12. Roof prices are through the roof too.
  13. "Similar" and "identical" are concepts frequently confused by folks who can't appreciate nuance.
  14. Past, present, or future, there have always been and will always be morons, more and more morons.
  15. Others, and their opinions, beliefs, and the trends they embrace, are more important to some than thinking for themselves.
  16. Puke-inducing designs, and proof positive that talent and self-critical judgement is wildly overrated, as argued forcefully on another thread. Criticize something built by a young guy? It's just hating on youth, according to the dweebles, not expressing distaste for an awful design that would still be exceedingly ugly no matter how old the builder was.
  17. Enemies often don't comprehend their peril until they feel the hot breath of Nemesis on their necks, and by that time it's too late.
  18. You know something, Rob? There was just as much stupid and wrong in the world in 1972 as there is now. And I, for one, was somebody who railed against it. But stupid and tasteless and ignorant know no bounds, and don't care whether it's 2022 or 1922.
  19. Re: "get off my lawn", etc. Somebody want to explain to me why every thread where anyone voices their opinion that an ugly copycat design trend or some stupid modification based on technical ignorance (like the idiotic donk thing that destroys a vehicles handling and ride characteristics, or the equally stupid extreme camber that also ruins a cars handling and destroys tires rapidly to boot) ALWAYS devolves into bashing old guys? If it wasn't for old guys, this hobby wouldn't still exist. We're the primary target demographic that model car manufacturers aim for in the US. We spend the most money supporting the hobby. And some of us have forgotten more than most of the "youngsters" will ever know. So WHY does somebody invariably start in with the snide remarks about age? What's the deal? I'd really like to know.
  20. All 100% correct, and apparently never considered by anyone from the design department through to the end purchaser.
  21. Interesting marketing point, but I can't remember the last time I tried to flush one golf ball, much less 12.
  22. No, I don't mean folks like them. I mean talentless little mediocrities.
  23. You just have to face reality at some point, and real talent is rare in anything, including having a sense of line, volume, and proportion, i.e. the sculptural design of a vehicle. A room full of mediocre talents on a committee is no substitute for ONE person with outstanding talent, and talent is not redefined by the mindless quest for "equity". But pity the poor fool who stands up and says the emperor has no clothes. OMG!!! OMG!!! RUN IN CIRCLES WITH HAIR ON FIRE!!! EDIT: One big problem with talent is that it's only really recognized by equal talent. So if you have a talentless hack running a design department, he's likely to surround himself with similar mediocrities, and mediocre work is the result. Someone wise once said "genius recognizes genius; talent recognizes talent; but mediocrity knows nothing higher than itself”.
  24. Just look at their work. Soulless me-too me-too lookalike trash, most of it, obviously committee-generated overwrought trash. EDIT: But hey...at least this mess is marginally better than its predecessor.
