  1. Man, you guys are killing me. Now I'm jonesing for that '58 Eldo.
  2. I think I need to build heem from Revell Bronco first-gen.
  3. OMG !!! OMG !!! Now I need to spray down my computer with Clorox !!!
  4. While reading the thread about what scale is too large for model contests, it occurred to me that an equally pressing question that should be seriously addressed is how small is TOO small? The 3D-nanoprinted F1 racing car shown below is just .011" long. OMG!!! This is so unfair to modelers who don't have access to scanning electron microscopes and micro-3D laser printing technology. https://www.bbc.com/news/technology-17357374
  5. This guy irked me today. Nothing too unusual though. Seems like he's everywhere these days, always whining that he can't do this or can't do that because of some perceived unfairness or inequity, and that everything he fails at for lack of trying...or his own lazy incompetence and willful ignorance...is somebody or something else's fault.
  6. EDIT: I have two of 'em. I'll be using them as bases for fairly radical customs, as I can't get past the wonky lines and proportions of the model as it comes. That said, the multi-piece body doesn't bother me at all. Try the threads below for what you can actually expect with effort as opposed to whining. The proportions and lines are weird (though some folks can't see anything wrong), it's an old kit dating back to the late 1950s, but it can become a nice model. Here's the history of the thing, for anyone who's interested. https://hotrodbunny.com/the-history-of-the-revell-57-cadillac-eldorado-brougham-model-kit/
  7. 119 by the end of the day. Can you say sweaty and tired, boys and girls?
  8. Sheer genius. Put me down for at least three.
  9. I think it would be entirely reasonable to separate contest categories by scale, subject (factory replica, competition cars, customs, rods, or free-form anything goes...for example), and whether the model had builder-machined or otherwise scratch-built parts. Basketballers don't compete heads-up with marksmen, or swimmers...or even other kinds of ballers. Why should serious model building competition put every entry in the same basket? EDIT: The flip side of that, from my own perspective, is that if you're building models solely for adulation and praise, you're kinda missing the point. Winning is nice, but I've seen wonderful 1/24-1/25 builds overlooked as the "crowd favorite" because one big beautiful 1/8 scale model had so much more presence. Understandable for a popular-choice award, but not so much if the "competition" is actually competition. Maybe a better analogy...in drag-racing, A/FX cars didn't compete for the same trophy as factory stockers.
  10. Greg Nobling uses my preferred method. No possibility of peeling later, either. Only downside is the amount of air it takes. Small hand-held blasters are available, but they're probably going to need a minimum of a 3HP compressor.
  11. Well that bites. But that's how we learn. I've boogered lotsa stuff, will probably booger more before it's over. The trick is to not keep making the same mistake.
  12. Ever hear of pride in one's own workmanship? That's the only "incentive" I've ever needed. Obsolete past-it geezer concept, I know.
  13. Sure would be nice if resin casters bothered to learn how to do the work before they sell this crapp.
  14. Great looking truck, and I sure love that dio every time I see it...
  15. Styrene repop of the old acetate Johan '59 Plymouth promo...auction site photo.
  16. How many you want? There's 10 on FeePay right now.
  17. 110F in the shop today. Glad we have a water cooler.
  18. Actually, if you're really careful, that could be accomplished by heating that section to a little over 212F and mashing it flat between two hard surfaces.
  19. Pretty straightforward. Cut 'em off, splice in pieces of flat styrene the same thickness as the body shell.
  20. And I truly hope your meds will work for you.
  21. And for those who've been brainwashed to believe they need a pill for everything, especially as they age, "needing" those meds is largely the result of poor lifestyle choices over time. I'm not being "mean" or "judgmental" or "critical" or "moralizing" here. I've dealt with weight and other health "problems" for decades, and I've found out what works, for me. Passing my own results on is only an attempt to try to get people to realize they have more control over many aspects of their health than the medical...and pharmaceutical...establishment would have you believe.
