  1. Thanks! I thought this would be a quick build. Only 59 parts? Base color is aluminum? How hard could it be? Had plans to hand it over Saturday morning, which meant I had 3 evenings to work on it after the kids went to bed. First two nights was spent on paint. Wrestled with it hot 6 hrs Friday night - a solid 2 1/2 of that was fighting with the decals. No amount of Micro-Sol would make the checkered decals conform to the fuselage! Pretty happy with the end result. Dad was quite surprised too! Thanks again to all for the compliments!
  2. My first (and probably my last!) airplane build. Made this for my father's Birthday over 3 days (staying up to 3am on the 3rd day counts, right?). Its box stock, and not historically accurate, but it looks fine enough on the shelf. Enjoy.
  3. Not sure how you're doing it, but you are building the garage of my dreams - in scale form! Keep up the good work!
  4. Looks real good for a quick build
  5. @‌ TarheelRick: cool build - nice use of parts box!
  6. Looks perfect! Don't see many of these - either in scale form or the real deal. Good job.
  7. Cool Start!
  8. Nice work. Excellent detail! I remember the REAL cars being the ones to beat in their class at LeMans back in the day. Don't remember where they finished tho....
  9. Got to ask - is this a model build up, or an engineering exercise?? Either way - excellent skills!
  10. WOW - Some amazingly clean stock builds ther ^^^^ I really like the las pic of the Chevy
  11. The level of work and attention to detail to the paint process would drive me bat crazy. No doubt that this will look fantastic when finished.
  12. Love it so far! Can't wait to see the completed product.
  13. Good looking build so far! Keep up the good work.
  14. Great stuff! Crusty & rusty-nice
  15. They look fine when I uploaded them on the PC. I see what you mean when I view this site on my iPhone. I'm sure that someone with "IT" background can explain. Never fails, whenever I post pics of my builds, someone has to criticize the photography Didn't know that photography was a prerequisite of model building lol
  16. Wow-that's amazing work!
  17. Perfect !
  18. I really like this one! Excellent color choice
  19. Now that is one nicely detailed build!
  20. Nice! Yet another reason to add this one to my collection!
  21. Thanks for the feedback! Believe it or not, the hearders are actually glued to the engine, but the blue bomb engine is not worth exposing! The Sprint Car headers was all I had available at the time. But yes, I do agree that they look a little out of place. Will certainly incorporate some lessons learned from this one on my next Rat Rod build. But hey, I tried something new. It doesn't always work out as planned
  22. Thanks everyone! Even tho these pics show some serious orange peel, I'm pretty proud of how this one turned out. One of my favorite builds so far. Won 2nd place in my first model car show! Believe it or not, the inspiration came from my father-in law's Canary Yellow '54 Austin Somerset convertible restoration. When the body was off of the chassis, I asked him why he was painting the frame/engine block/trans/suspension components different shades of Olive Drab, Brown, and other military shades. He replied that the Austin factory in the UK had a surplus of these paint colors left over after the war. So naturally, they used it up on these components when they went back to producing cars. This left me wanting to build a "retro themed" Hot Rod, and this was it. SC
  23. Thanks everyone - the complliments mean alot! Had no real expectations when I started with the glue bomb - but I'm happy with the results.
  24. Looks pretty good to me! Funny thing - I have this kit in my stock,of which I was planing to paint the EXACT same color. Thanks for posting the reference pics lol -SC
