  1. That's how I build/customize my 1:1 cars subtle mods that are only noticed by the people who appreciate them. Tuning a NASCAR body into something that looks OEM will be a challenge! Others are offering some good, constructive criticism, I wish you good luck-look forward to your progress.
  2. The parts fit so weel together, its hard to believe that they are NOT the same. You know more about that stuff than I do Casey, so I'll take your work for it.
  3. The color just looks "right" - nice work

    Black Willys

Awesome - but I want to see more
  5. I was unboxing my new Dodge L 700 kit (the one with the '40 Ford and trailer), and noticed that the Ford body was remarkably similar to the AMT ’40 Ford coupe on my workbench. After carefully examining each one, they appear to be from the same mold! Even the parts trees seem to be the similar. There are some obvious differences, like the Lindberg logo on the under side of the body, and a few optional parts not included in the AMT version. Most notably, the Lindberg parts have excessive flash and mold lines to take care of, but you wouldn’t know that they were from two different companies sitting side by side on the bench. To further test my theory, I test fit some Lindberg parts on my partially built AMT chassis, and they are a perfect fit! For giggles, I tried some parts from my unbuilt Revell kit on the AMT chassis. As expected, the parts could work with some massaging, but not as well as the Lindberg/AMT parts. Can anyone verify this?
  6. I recently bought some to try it out. Must say, not all that impressed with it. The rest of the BMF line is great. Thought it would look like "smoked" Chrome or gunmetal like finish, but it looks gloss black to me.
  7. Awesome - these cars seem to develop a little more attitude when they are a little rough around the edges!
  8. OK - so did some research and here's what I found: Rub-N-Buff does not seem to be sold by anyone that I'm aware of in my area so I'm writing this off. Michael's (USA) seems to stock this product, but not the Canadian affiliate. Strange, but not surprising. USCHI products look to be a pretty interesting product, but again, not stocked in my area. S&H is prohibitive. Other wax based metalizers - again, doesn't look like anyone around here has heard of such a product, let alone sell it. Another observation is that all of the above products seem to be offered in two main colors - Chrome and gold like finish. What is appealing (to me) about the AK-interactive line is that it is offered in multiple finishes such as dark aluminum, Iron, copper, as well as the traditional. If you order from AK-interactive directly, S&H is prohibitive as they are located in Europe. However, I did find a Canadian retailer that offers this product line at a more "reasonable" price. Guess I'll have to save up and review the products myself. Stay tuned
  9. Excellent job - that hood must have been a challenge to pull off, but you did it.

    37 Ford Coupe

Love everything about this build! It's exactly how I would have built it.
  11. Classic pics. The tire marks in the sand are a nice touch!
  12. Wow-that looks awesome
  13. VERY nice paint job. Can't wait to see how you finish it off.
  14. Great start
  15. Very classy! Good work. Have any tips on how you did the seats? They look very realistic!
  16. While I feel that we all need to respect others property, I know that the majority of drivers on the road don't care. When I had my new Acura, I parked it at the far end of the lot, about 50 spaces away from the nearest car. Know what? Some D bag parked 10 inches from my car, over the painted line, and still left me a door ding as a parting gift. No excuse when I'm between the lines. Happens to me all the time, regardless of what I drive. From a POS Cavalier, to my Civic, or my van. Call it bad luck, but there is nothing you can do to protect your car unattended in a public raking area. I have a few retaliation stories too, but those could be admissions to a crime lol
  17. PayPal is a billing/payment system. It helps expedite the process, so yes, it can take immediate payment if it is set up to do so by the vendor. I found that HLP carries almost the same products at comparable prices. I've received parts from Japan 2-3 weeks from purchase on in stock items. That's typically faster than products sent to me from Canada or USA. Communication is also night and day. Maybe try there next time.
  18. I'll look into this-never heard it Thanks
  19. Just wondering if anyone has tried this product: http://ak-interactive.com/v2/?orderby=price&product_cat=true-metal "can be applied by brush, with the fingertip, or with a cotton swab. Once dried, it can be polished to achieve a metallic finish." If so, how does it compare to other "true metal" products out there. No doubt Alclad 2 has great results and a strong following in our model community, but I was looking at other alternatives available. Especially since my paint booth/air brush are down right now I might be able to justify the cost if its easy to use, little clean up, and provides decent results.
  20. FYI - F18 is a fighter jet If we're talking Honda engines, especially from an Integra, its a B18. Sorry if I sound anal about it, but I've owned a few of these cars over the years. This is a surprisingly common swap in real life, somthing that I've always wanted to do myself. Sticking a 200+hp engine in a car that started out with 68hp isn't a bad start. Can't wait to see how this one turns out.
  21. Unless his policy has changed, that was certainly not my experience.
  22. I was leaning towards Mopar too. My guess is it's for a '60's Pontiac, GTO or Firebird.
  23. Cool build-looks just like the 1:1 I used to see plowing in my area as a kid. Same colour too, but yours is less rusty.
  24. 3 years was worth the wait for a build of this quality.
  25. I recently built my first Rat Rod out of left over parts and did my first top chop using an eBay glue bomb body for the same build. Turned out half decent. Think I'll need more of a hint to guess what the build will be.
