Where's the 351C? Good enough to power the Boss 351 Mustangs and De Tomaso Panteras. I understand there's a good one in the new Revell Mach 1.

Do any resin casters offer these wheels?

Thanks! I'm sure 99.9% of the people on here are honest and reliable. No one wants to be thought of as "that guy". -

Allow me to quote myself: 5-spoke versions of these: http://www.driftproject.com/media/fun/et_wheels4.jpg The wheels depicted were made by ET in the mid 80s (roughly). -

Fair questions. Here's why: 1) When I decide to build a '57 Vette, It'll be the Monogram kit, not this one. I have no interest in the MPC kit; other than the wheels, there's not much else I'd want from it. The kit may be common, but hobby shops will still have it priced @ $15.00 & above. Ebay sales will typically tack on $8.00 - $10.00 shipping to whatever the price of the kit is. 2) I have an on-going issue with a fellow "trader" on this very Board who agreed to a deal I posted, PM'd me with his ship-to address, but has yet to respond to any of my PMs since then. My package has arrived at his end. Don't know if or when I'll receive mine. That's not a blanket incrimination of all traders on the Board, I'm just looking to do a direct purchase of these wheels without paying for a whole kit, paying shipping costs that are higher than the price of the wheels or getting stuck in another trader's quagmire. See why I just want to buy 'em? -
Testors Modelmaster acrylic paint
Monty replied to mackattack's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
The last time I airbrushed any of the Testors acrylic paint was 10 years ago, but I made the mistake of trying to reduce it like an enamel. Needless to say, it was way too thin. If memory serves, there's a brief message on the back of the bottle about not reducing the paint. I haven't tried any of the acrylic primers, so I can't advise you on that. However, there's a great trick I learned on the Spotlight Hobbies board: Get a pack of white plastic spoons and try everything that comes to mind on them. They're dirt cheap, the curvature actually helps in assessing paint, and if you screw up, who cares? Wanna try lacquer over enamel? SPOON! How 'bout acrylic over an enamel primer? SPOON! Wanna see my favorite cartoon superhero? http://meaninglessguy.files.wordpress.com/...ick-graphic.jpg One guy over there did a pictorial based on spoons painted with Tamiya metallic spray paints (lacquer) over dark, medium and lighter colored bases - proving that you can virtually triple your color choices. Stick a fork in me. I'm done talkng about spoons. -
Impressive! I really like what you did with that oily engine. May I ask what you used to do that?

PM sent. Thanks!

Nick, sorry to hear about your past experiences. However, this search has nothing to do with finding a "better" forum; I'm trying to find a site I came across late one night that featured several things of interest to me. Being a dolt, I neglected to make any note of the name, url, etc. assuming I would remember it the next day. Deet-da-dee! Thanks! Monty

If it's OK with Gregg & Harry, I'd like any links you can provide to other U.S.-based model car forums. Long story short, I found some incredible car pics and info on some site the other night, but now I can't find them after two days of abusing Google. A friend tried to talk me through using the "history" section, but I fat-fingered something and erased the entire day. Anyway... I already have links for this place, Spotlight Hobbies, Brian's Model Cars & Drastic Plastic. Don't bother with Scale Auto's site. Thanks for any info you can supply.

Lindberg now has their own line of acrylic paint
Monty replied to Monty's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Steve, my quote - I based my extensive knowledge on a can of Testors spray paint. Looks like SteveG knows this subject fairly well. relates back to your explanation that sapphires have a number of hues. I truly thought they were blue and blue only. Thanks for bringing me up to date! I'm very interesting in trying the new paints and would appreciate it if you could keep us updated as to when and where they can be bought. -

Looks like my pessimism was unfounded. Here's what I found on their website: http://www.lindberg-models.com/model-paints2.html Roughly 25 gloss paints suitable for car finishes. No brand-specific colors like Plum Crazy or Hugger Orange, but it looks like a decent range. Wait a minute... #3710 under car colors - The name is sapphire pearl, but the color chip indicates it's going to be reddish. Did I miss a memo re sapphires? -

I can't find anything on the 'net regarding these paints, so I can only surmise that they'll offer some standard gloss colors (reds, blues , greens etc) and a lot of flats. From the pics I saw of the trade show, Lindberg apparently offers a substantial number of non-automotive kits, military and otherwise. I'd love to be wrong, though... -

I agree with you. Given the dominance of the big dogs (Tamiya and Testors) it might be hard to convince a hobby shop owner to give up some floor space for another acrylic. Monogram/Revell came out with their own acrylic line several years ago; their marketing ploy was fewest mils of paint required for full coverage. Great concept, but it didn't last long. Gunze Sangyo acrylics, my favorite line, are virtually impossible to find in the US anymore. That said, I'll still mail order a couple bottles of Lindberg's new paint just to see how good it is. As far as the airbrushes go, swing a dead cat in the average hobby shop and you'll hit a stack of Badger and/or Paasche guns. Wanna step up? Iwata's got you covered. Wanna save some coins? Harbor Freight sells 6-packs of airbrushes at ridiculous prices. If I were on the board of directors at Lindberg, I would have voted against these ideas and asked that the money be put into new and better models. They've proven they can put out good kits: '53 Ford, '61 Impala, '66 Chevelle etc. They need to quit wasting time on the old Pyro molds and find the niche cars that people would enjoy. Couple thoughts off the top of my head: '68 Chevelle. Hasn't been one in some time & AMT's '69 is a turd. '70-'73 Firebird Formula. MPC's molds were retooled for the late 70s Firebirds & I doubt the current owners will ever change them back. Still in the Pontiac vein - '70 Grand Prix, '73 Grand Am. Lastly, 83-84 Hurst Olds. Use a photo of the '83 on the box and I'd bet they'd fly off the shelves. Just my humble, long-winded opinion... -

Interesting. I wouldn't have thought of teaming up with them for hobby paints. Do you have a reliable source for that? (no names if the person would prefer not to be identified). -
This is one of the pictures from the latest model trade show. I came across it on another model forum I belong to. http://public.fotki.com/SteveG26/i-hobby-e...9/dscn0006.html By my count, it looks like they're offering 119 acrylic colors. That appears to be theLindberg logo on the airbrushes too. Anybody know who the paint manufacturer is? An "insider" on another board said it's definitely not Testors. I wonder whose airbrushes they're selling... Anybody here got some inside information?

Nope. As I mentioned in the original post, my only interest in the kit was the tires, and that was strictly because they were BF Goodrich Radial T/As. I remember thinking it was a strange choice of tire for a Japanese kit mfr to include in a minivan kit. I'm hoping they're good enough to fit on one of my current projects. PS I'm not interested in the MPC versions. They look like a Chinese knock-off done from a child's drawing. The AARI versions capture the tread and sidewall detail fairly well, but are too large to look in scale on most 1/25 scale kits. JMHO...
-
Unfortunately, I can't even remember which minivan kit (Honda, Toyota, etc) the tires come in. About all I can recall regarding SAE's kit review was the fact that the mfr tooled up 4 Radial T/As for it. The author indicated that the tires were well crafted as far as tread and sidewall accuracy. If someone here has this kit, I'd appreciate it if you could post some close-up pics of the tires.

Another Recycled Model. 1960 Edsel Cconvertible.

Having seen your work on dozens of other models, I can't wait to see how this one turns out. If you have the time, would you mind doing a follow-along pictorial? -
Lookin' good so far! I noticed you did the modifications to make poseable steering. My build of this kit is about 1/3 complete, but I've never tried the steering mod before. Any chance you could post close-up pics and some notes? Thanks!
