  1. Take a look in here. http://www.micromark.com/paint-brushes.html Buy the best you can afford and buy them in sets so you end up with a variety of tips.
  2. Chad, what paint did you use on the dark red one?
  3. I've always thought they were beautiful cars, even though I'd never be able to afford one. The good news is, you can own a smaller version.
  4. Well...take another look at that '80 on the assembly line. The bottom of the interior "tub" appears to be a lighter gray, and at this stage of assembly, it's doubtful that any other painting will be done. Here's a pic from a '74. Semi-gloss black frame rails and raw fiberglass. If we're lucky, maybe one of our resident geniuses will show us how to replicate raw fiberglass in 1/25 scale.
  5. I'm going to agree with Len about the frame amd suspension. This old post of mine might be of some help. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=70200&p=869450 From everything I've seen, the fiberglass flooring left the factory raw (unpainted).
  6. Gene, would you mind telling us what paints & techniques you used to achieve that finish?
  7. Another nice one, Jim. Love those fuel lines!
  8. if this is the Revell '69 Mustang, I'll be curious to see if you can figure out a way to get around the snub-nose effect inherent in the model's design.
  9. I got into a discussion on the Corvette Forum regarding some issues I'm having with my computer. One thing they all seemed to agree on was that I needed to change browsers, as what I currently have can slow things down. Allegedly it also has a problem with viruses. Most of them recommended that I go with Google Chrome, but a decent-sized minority were adamant that Firefox was better. I'd like to know which one you're running and why you switched, if you did. I am not knowledgeable about computers so keep that in mind when (if) you answer.
  10. Charlie's statement prompted a question I have for the hobby historians on here: Were these Gold Cup kits more expensive than regular JoHan kits when they were released? I don't recall seeing them when I was younger. Just makes me wonder what might've happened if they'd put that kind of effort into their regular line... As for our cosmopolitan Mr Kennedy, this is yet another example of what happens when well-honed skills and a desire for excellence come together. Glad you were able to rescue this one!
  11. You know, after a lapse of that many years, sometimes it takes a while before you get back to your previous skill level. In the meantime, I'd suggest you hang out here and see what you can learn. Oh, who am I kidding. That old Jag is drop-dead gorgeous. Paint, decals, attention to detail and assembly techniques are all first rate. I hope you'll favor us with more of your work as soon as possible.
  12. Which Revell '57 Chevy are you guys saying is the equivalent of this AMT kit? Chris, did you shoot the purple over a red oxide primer or something else? I like factory stock stuff but that purple looks sharp!
  13. I'd be be curious to know if any of these community builds has ever worked out. I could never participate knowing that one person might decide that the rules didn't apply to him, derailing the project for everyone else who'd played by the rules.
  14. Pat yourself on the back, Marcos. You just taught a middle-aged dog a new trick. I've been avoiding most of Testors' One Coat line because of the ridiculous flake size, but it looks like you've created a way around that.
  15. I hope you'll be able to knock this out quickly. Are you planning to create these on your own or modifying decent pieces like the Gran Sport's units? If your fabrication skills are anything like your casting abilities, I'll be waiting, cash in hand.
  16. I posed that question to our resin casters about a year ago but didn't receive a single answer. Maybe there's something available in metal...
  17. I bought their version of the '80 Corvette over a decade ago and was somewhat disappointed. The Japanese don't seem to have the best luck replicating American car shapes, and that happened again with this kit, specifically the shape and flow of the rear fenders. (Your '82 would be virtually identical with the exception of the "Cross-Fire Injection" fender scripts). I don't recall anything noteworthy about the chassis except that the front wheels are poseable, a feature I like. OTOH, IIRC, the bottom half of the engine is molded in with the chassis, and the hood doesn't open. Despite the body accuracy issues I mentioned, the molds were very nicely done and there was no flash. The body didn't suffer from heavy parting lines either. If you're getting this kit fairly cheaply and the "off" body & lack of engine don't bother you, then buy it & build it. Non-C3 Corvette owners probably won't notice the fender issues & depending on your familiarity, you may not either. My '80 that I had for 20 years.
  18. That Cord has always been my favorite car of that era, and it looks like you've done a great job replicating it. Any engine shots?
  19. I'm not sure how helpful this information is going to be, but we have a member (ratnasty) who was going to be casting the '69 Rebel, among other things. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=76785&hl=%2Bpontiac+%2Bformula#entry970890 You can contact him through the board via PM or through his site http://www.scaleracingreplicas.com/ If you discover that the caster of the '70 Machine is someone else, please let us know who. There are a number of us who'd like a shot at this car. HTH
  20. Maybe Apple or Microsoft will develop an app that translates infantile texting into fluent English. It'll need a clever name, though. Maybe we could call it 'tard-to-bard.
  21. You seem to enjoy throwing the term "grammer nazi" around a lot, despite your inability to spell grammar correctly and the fact that you had no idea that "nazi" should be capitalized. Tell me something, are those who're proficient in math "number Nazis" because they insist on precision instead of "whatever"? Yes, we get it - you "dont care". Please tell me that your job has nothing to do with legal paperwork or any other documentation where a customer might see your willful ignorance on display. You are a liability. On the other hand, you may be on the verge of a wonderful career writing song titles for rap albums, my nizzle. Even if this were a college class or a business instead of a model forum, you'd still be in a world of hurt. Spellcheck will tell you if you've goofed on the spelling, but it won't tell you that you screwed up by using except instead of accept. Lastly, you'll be pleased to know that you don't even have to go to college to take a "collage class". An interest in art might be helpful, though.
  22. The short answer is a resounding "Yes!" You have to think outside the world of Facebook and texting to understand why, though. Go back to post #28 and look at how much Dale had to edit what you wrote in order to bring it up to "acceptable English" standards. To be blunt, when people older than your generation see this stuff, you collectively come off as a bunch of 'tards, and before you tell me that what they think doesn't matter, remember that they're the ones who'll be doing the hiring for the forseeable future. Also, there's a huge difference between "generational slang" and the inability to differentiate between 2nd grade words like your and you're or there, their and they're. Do you get to mix and match multiplication table results too? Personally, I believe it comes down to willful indifference. Here's why: Over the years, we've had a decent sampling of Europeans join our board, and even though English was, at best, a second language to most of them, none of them ever created a literary pile of poop like you did in the paragraph that Dale edited. That's because they were taught proper English, including punctuation and spelling. I'd honestly love to know how colleges are handling this kind of thing. Can you imagine grading a term paper wirtten in this garbage?
  23. Here's my point: the first kit was released a month ago, but there's no website for price & ordering info. The proprietor(s) can't be bothered to communicate through the board (I'm not the only one on here with unanswered questions), and from what I saw in your last post, we're already getting the Reliable Resin refrain of "I'm busy!" No one said casting is easy, but a number of things need to improve if anyone is going to take this business seriously.
  24. I'm just gonna say it - these guys suck at communication & they'll end up with a reputation like You-Know-Who before this little enterprise of theirs ever gets off the ground. It's kind of a shame, too, since they planned to offer some things I'd be interested in.
