  1. Great build so far. Your doing a great job. For the rear windows try using Micro Krystal Kleer. It's made for clear parts. If you want to use super glue, dip the parts in Future. This helps to prevent fogging. Fumes from the CA are your enemy, keep airflow moving over the parts until the CA sets using a small fan. Looking forward to seeing this completed.
  2. Nice build! I just sold my 86 GT last week. The new owner has an 88 Fiero that he put an LS4 w/6 speed manual in it. He drove it over when he brought me the cash for mine. That was a freakin sweet Fiero.
  3. No pics but I built that kit when it first came out. Nice, lots of chrome "engine" parts. I did a quick slap together of it. I sprayed all the engine parts with Testors transparent blue. Turned out O.K. I have seen some pretty amazing builds using Lightsheet. I believe there was even a pre-cut Lightsheet kit for this at one time. Have fun with it, and hope the chemo goes easy on ya.
  4. Thanks knarf. I see your in Michigan. I grew up in the Pontiac/Waterford area before moving to KY 7 years ago. You have me at a loss though. What movie character reference? This local creek is nothing but shell fossils. Look down and the ground your on is one giant slab of fossilized shells. My dog Scotch enjoying a day in the water. Another fossil from the same creek. Lots of small bones that had collected in one spot.
  5. Oh, and here is my '86 Fiero GT that still needs a new engine! Custom built lightsaber. Oh, and I collect rocks too. It's free! I have rocks from all over the world right now. Anytime someone in the office travels to a different country I always have them pick me up a rock. Nothing store bought, just off the beach, road, ground, street, etc. I have rocks from Japan, China, Germany, Australia, many places in the UK, etc.
  6. Wow, what other hobbies? I spend way to much money on- Collecting and building movie related sci-fi props Gas powered RC Monster trucks Model building of course My '86 Fiero GT (to get back on the road) Here are a few pics of some current projects My highly customized Pulse Rifle Full custom electronics. Hero PR sounds including firing, mag loading, grenade launcher racking and firing sound effects. LEDs in the barrel flash with the sounds. Still plugging away on my Blade Runner Spinner. Need to finish my Freddy Krueger glove.
  7. Nice Bumper Pad John. I have the same side scoop on my '86 GT.
  8. Any updates on this build?
  9. O.K. I'll play, this is me from last year at Wonderfest in KY.
  10. Agreed, 3D modeling is not the future some think it may be and of course will never replace injection molded kits or resin kits for that matter. It will hopefully turn out to be a viable alternative to resin kits. Still want at least a stock Delorean body though, LOL.
  11. I'll be watching this build for sure. I have the MPC kit of the '86 Fiero GT that will be built to replicate my 1/1 Fiero in my driveway. Most popular engine swaps are small block Chevy's and the 3.8 SC 3800 V6 nowadays.
  12. You can't compare this to a plastic kit in terms of price per the product. Look at how expensive full resin model car kits cost, especially race cars. Right now, 3D printing is aiming at that market. I think in the future we will see more 3D printed kits compared to full resin kits. I doubt 3D printing will ever drop to the price of a regular kit. It all comes down to how badly you want something and how much you're willing to spend on your desires. There are several cars, that are not replicated in plastic or resin, that I would spend a few hundred on as a 3D print. I would love to see a 3D printed stock Delorean with hinged doors in the silver material that is available. I would drop $200-$300 for that kit. But that's just me.
  13. Market share? I think GM will sell a couple more of these than Ferrari, Lambo, and Viper combined. Pretty good market share to me. Each new generation of Vette is met with rampant love or hate. This model is no different. Some love it, some hate it, some are "meh" about it. It's all good. Those that want one will buy one. Those are the ones GM is after. I think they will get them. The Vette will never be in direct competition with Ferrari's, Lambo's, Aston's, etc. Those are exotics that cost 4 times as much or more. When those companies come out with a $55,000 vehicle then the Vette can compete directly. That fact that people still compare the Vette to those brands is a + mark for GM! And people complain about scoops and vents? Lets go count how many are on an Aventador and a 458!
  14. I like the new Vette. If I had the money I would buy one in a heartbeat. I love Ferraris and Lambos as well. As much as GM says that it is a world class super car, it just does not compete in one area that Ferraris, Lambos, Astons, Lotus, etc compete in, the maintenance bill! The Vette is an every day sports car, something you can't do with a $300,000 Lambo. You could easily put thousands of miles on one a year, drive it in the rain, and probably have no worries about driving it across country. That's not something one would do with a GTO/Berlineta/599/458. Those owners buy their cars to pamper them because they're to expensive to do anything else. Of course if someone wanted to give me the latest greatest Lambo or Ferrari I wouldn't say no.
  15. The new Viper stole its front from the C6 if you compare the two. Plus, the Viper is just getting too long in the tooth design wise. Same basic body style since it came out. No roll bar on the convertable anymore either. Yes, the new Vette draws a lot from Ferrari and the Japanese crowd, but yes, it is now less flabby looking. When and who is going to be doing kits?
  16. One of my favorite cars! Looking forward to your builds. Years ago, someone offered a stock resin Delorean body for the AMT kit. Don't remember who though. I always wanted one but never got around to it.
  17. The taillights looking similiar to the new Camaro is called brand identification. The same style are also being used on the redesigned Malibu. It used to be the grille area that was similiar on a companies cars, like Dodge is doing with the cross hair grill, Pontiac (RIP) with its split grille, BMW with it's twin kidney, Cadillac with its egg crate grill, etc. So Chevy is starting a trend with tail lights. ??? And really, if you can't tell the difference between a Camaro and a Vette, just because they have similiar tail lights, your not really a car guy, even if you only do like classics.
  18. I have ordered a lot from policecarmodels for my Bladerunner Spinner. I'll have to pop back over there and check them out. Thanks again guys. I want to do a lighted version of my cities police car soon.
  19. Thanks for the info guys. I will search out the Motormax diecast. I am assuming it is 1/24-1/25 scale?
  20. Is anyone doing the newly restyled 2012/2013 Dodge Charger? I know there is the old style kit by Lindberg, but what about the current body style?
  21. Sand the edges of the doors and the door jams on the body until they are smooth and even. You will wind up with a rather large gap. You want this gap to be as even as possible all the way around the opening. Next, take some strip plastic and glue a strip around the front, bottom, and back edge of the door. Hold the door to the body and see how big the gap is. It should be a closer fit now. If the gap is suffeciant, you can now start sanding the edges of the strip styrene on the door to blend into the door panel. You may have to do the same with the door jam on the body, depending on how much material was removed to make it square.
  22. Thanks for the comments guys. It is a great kit and one of my all time favorite scifi cars and movies. It is expensive but I got mine at Wonderfest for $60. It was better than paying $80+ elsewhere. Would a Moderator be able to move the whole thread back for me? Michigan Madman, are you in Michigan? I lived in the Pontiac/Waterford area for most of my life before moving to KY 7 years ago. I'll actually be in Mich this weekend moving a friend to up there. Futurbat, I agree with the lights. When I heard about this kit that was my first thought, lighting it! Then a saw a Japanese blogger build one with hinged doors. I knew I had to do the same to mine.
  23. More mods. Getting close to actually building this kit! Front wheel pods and side stripes on the body modded for lights. Light test of a bubble dome and the center "headlight".
  24. I loved that '85 TA kit. Long gone, but I painted mine a met. maroon color. Came out real nice. I love the fact that whoever built the box art model fudge up the decals along the bottom and tried to fix them with gold paint!
  25. Ambitious project. Hingeing Lambo doors is a challenge. I did that on my Bladerunner Spinner with brass rod, aluminum tubing, and magnets. Just make sure when you build the hinge that the doors are secure (with tape) to the body and are aligned up correctly. Not much room under the fender for the hinge but you should be able to get it done.
