The Ottawa Model Car Group presents this year's edition of the Ottawa Scale Model Contest! Date and Time: Sunday, September 28, 2025, 9:00 AM-3:30 PM Location: Major E.J.G. Holland Armoury, 2100 Walkley Road, Ottawa, Ontario Theme: 100 Years of Chrysler For further information, please check out our website: www.ottawascaleautocontest.com, or check us out on Facebook at 2025 Ottawa Scale Auto Contest.
  2. I remember cases like this being described in a book I read on the American automotive industry of the late 20th Century. The case was made that firms like GM and Chrysler had been run by groups where the majority of executives had either graduated from GMI or from some Midwestern football school. Consequently, the idea of 'everyone wants big cars' and 'innovation doesn't sell' kept being promoted, usually to the detriment of the corporations. Ford didn't seem to have these issues, or not to the same extent, which probably explains why Ford was more innovative during those years (if Tim Boyd hasn't signed an NDA, I would love to hear his take on the subject...) I'm happy to see a Fiero which hasn't been moulded in red, and I like the lack of chrome on the trees. I almost bought a 1:1 version when I was a kid, but it had a horrible clutch cable adjustment issues, and was concerned about servicing and reliability problems.
  3. I've often wondered if it was a single reservoir system on this Comet when things went down...
  4. I'm hoping this gets fixed for the '64 Comet, because there are differences between the inner fenders of the '64-65 and the '66-up cars. The main one, which Moebius carried over to the '65 Comet, was the location of the battery (the earlier cars have them mounted width-wise, while the later cars have them mounted lengthwise).
  5. I didn't find that information out for years after I had bought my K-Code Comet. I kept trying to figure out why someone would have ordered a 271-horse 289 with a 3-speed column-shift and a 3.25:1 open axle!
  6. Oh, I may have to get one...or two...or a case! 😜
  7. These wheels seem to be from a different mold than the old Otaki/Doyousha rims. I will be looking for a few more sets for the stash.

  13. It should be identical, Bill.
  14. You never know, it all depends on what sort of demand there is. However, seeing that the old AMT plug is still selling after dozens of reissues shows it would be a kit with market potential. The Snap-Tite kit is actually quite nice, even though the options they replicate are a bit unusual: not many came with Powerglides from the factory! (IIRC, the 1:1 car Revell used belonged to tbe late Roger Harney, who was a long-time kit designer for Monogram and R/M.)
  15. I want one. I also want the Tamiya 205 rally kit I could never justify buying as a teenager, but now I can afford to be a completist!
  16. I'd buy one to go with my built-up Nordic.
  17. A really fascinating article! I've always thought about getting some of the 1:9 Protar bikes, but never felt I was up to the challenge.
  18. The hardest part may be to find an accurate engine, since 1948 was the last year for the L-Head V8 engine. Plenty of early OHV Cadillacs out there, but can't think of any aaccurate L-Heads (unless the military manufacturers decide to do a 1:24 scale Chaffee...
  19. I picked mine up earlier this week. You won't be disappointed.
  20. I just received my order in the mail today. The grilles look fantastic, much better than the originals.
  21. Good haul of kits. The majority of the cars are pretty decent builds, though I keep buying and selling the Bad Actor. Nostalgic enough to own, but not enough to build it. The Delta is a pretty neat aircraft. I've had the opportunity to see the remains of the only surviving RCAF example at the CASM. It's a bit creepy when you realize it is essentially a coffin, but I'm glad it still exists as a historical artifact (the a/c crashed in the opening days of World War II, and was not located until the late 1950's).
  22. It looks fantastic, hoping to get an order in soon!
  23. There was an article on this car (or at least the recreation of it) in an issue of The Rodder's Journal from back in the late 2010's. IIRC, it was known as the Hollingsworth Nomad, after its' original builder. The real car was repainted at some point, and was known to last reside in British Columbia (also from an issue of TRJ).
