Is there a difference in Revell Ferrari 458 kits?
socal76 replied to slegacy05's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
The top one is typical of the Revell of Germany edition, while the bottom is the typical Revell version. -
Chris, if John says "Chris....this just blows me away......."WOW", and given HIS talents, can you imagine what the rest of us "glue-bomb" builders are saying??

Just out of curiosity, where did that intake, carbs and carb covers come from? I would not mind using a setup like that on a couple of projects I am working on! Seen lots of three, or six carb, but can't recall what kit has the eight.

where to get rear drag tires
socal76 replied to gtcapri's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
It would depend on what size you need, AMT has their Parts Pack and Pegasus has their Top Fuel/Funny Car size. If you can find them, Stevens International did some nice ones, kind of in between width of those other two -

Anyone do a flat hood for Revell 69 camaro?
socal76 replied to oldscool's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Replicas and Miniatures of Maryland used to offer one. I checked with Norman and he said he might still have the mold. Drop a line to him. He also had the '69 vent hood too. -
Missed this post and this kit went from a nice kit, but no thanks to Gotta have, just to build the drag version. Not much of a replica stock fan but that two tone green has got me thinking I might need two!!

I would be interested in this too. Something to consider using the posts feedback, maybe $15.00 for the base like you have and if you want to go a step farther, $30.00 maybe even $35.00 with a complete induction and exhaust. Just my opinion. After seeing fastback340's T bucket pic, I am even more interested!!

If anyone has the MPC Hot Rod Mag F/C and the Kallita Bounty Hunter F/C kits can you provide me with a comparison, or are they the same kit, just differnt decals? Going to be doing a LA Hooker Mustang and want to know which kit to start with.

I had a combo kit that was out in either late 1969 or early 1970 that was the 69 Ford Galaxy and 68 Shelby. The one thing I remember it having that I have not seen since is a clear bubble hood for the Shelby. Still have it, painted transparent grape, but hey I was only 10 when I painted it! I believe it was simply called the Shelby Race Team combo, although I am not 100% ssure about the name

Moebius '65 Mercury Comet Cyclone news
socal76 replied to Dave Metzner's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Dave, is it too late to consider doing the transmission separately as Revell did for the 64 Thunderbolt? I still wish this was done on many current kits, since some will want one or the other and they won't stay on the fence about buying one if it has both. Not to mention might sell a few more because people might buy a few more to have parts for the stash for other projects that were not as well thought out concerning options from the kit manufacturer. -
Have bought from Mike's several times and his delivery has always been received PRIOR to expected date. And his Powerslide decals and resin are top-notch products to boot! I would go way past broke if I ordered everything I want from his site!!

Niko, just a curiosity question for you. Since the 409 was also noted as a W head, and you live in Finland, where I doubt a whole lot of 409's wound up, is that still how you came up with your nic? Have to ask, since I am a big 409 fan myself!

corrected front end for a '33 Willys?
socal76 replied to AK_Invader's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Have bought a few of Ed's product's. Top notch and very reasonable turnaround time. Matter of fact, I need to sell a few kits to buy more of Ed's products! -
shucky, if you do make another batch of those turbos, I would like to get a few too!

Dr. I read through the entire subject here, and I have to say, not only is it a great model, but I am glad it did not become a wall ornament! Not only because so many have also had the pleasure of seeing the finished project. Plus it has given me some inspiration to go back to some I have been about ready to turn into either wall bombardments, or firecracker fuel! Alos kind of a bit of irony in that I got to see Donn's first video this past weekend. Have heard about it for years, but never been able to see it until this past weekend! I must have had some kind of evil glint in my eye because my friend said I could not even borrow it!!! LOL Maybe he thinks he might not have gotten it back!! Oh well once back to work both DVD's will be ordered! Can't wait to see your next project! Oh and by the way, one of my stalled projects was using the same T-Bird but dropping in a street SOHC 427 from the Tarantula and intake from the Monogram Cobra, and the automatic from the Revell T-Bolt, just to keep the comfy cruiser of the original.

"portable" modeling kit...grab and go?
socal76 replied to Brian_B's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I use a Plano 3730 that has adjustable compartments to keep enought tools, glues, a few odds and ends parts, brushes, clamps, etc. Then just grab a kit or two. The reason I like the Plano box is you can drop it and the latches will stay closed! Don't ask how I know this! Even dropped it once and that time I had a bottle of paint in it too. Surpised me that the paint jar didn't break, but maybe I got lucky that one time. But then again the Testors liquid cement jar has never broken either. I have kept the old square jars from years ago because they fit easily in the comprtment. New bottles are too tall, so I just dump them into the old square ones and go. Couple of kits and the boc fit in a plastic bag and easy to carry into the motel. -
Contacted Prudhomme's marketing dept to ask them to contact a well known decal company, since Mongoose decals were being done at that time. Got a reply and it simply stated they had no interest in doing such a project. Kind of soured me on Prudhomme in general, and now have sold many of my Prudhomme kits.

Foxer, I have to add my two cents in here. I am glad you did not split the post. I am new to this one and I went through all 17 pages and enjoyed every bit of it. Even with all of the issues you have had, this is still an incredible read and well worth the time. And judging by all the other comments, I know I am not the only one that is saying you have done some mighty fine work! Funny thing is, I have always wanted some of the A-Team vans, but only for the Mr. T figure!! But now I am going to have to think about getting back to an old van project I first started over 15 years ago! Not as detailed as yours, but a bit different in concept. But you did get my attention! Keep up the work on this one!!
