  1. Were the Aurora/Monogram reissued cars part of the Can-Am series? I thought the Chapparels that Monogram did in the early/mid 90's were Can-Am cars? I know the Scarab was too early.
  2. Bill J, there has to be something with that Black Widow kit as I was bringing one back into the house and had on it what is probably my best paint job ever, and I must have squeezed the hanger just a bit too much, as the body went stright down into the grass before I got to the sidewalk. As if that was not bad enough I heard this distintive crunch before I could stop taking another step!
  3. Brian, I sure wish you could have had that body cast before you started applying paint. Really looks good with those flares.
  4. MarkJ, this build would almost make be build a Brad K. car. Notice I said almost!!!I suppose i could do it on a Lagano car instead!! LOL
  5. Paid $100.00 each for my Aurora Vega & Pinto full kits and $115.00 for an Aurora Speed Shop.
  6. Daddyfink, what was wrong with the TV show Stingray? I kind of liked it the short period it was on. Now the kit was not all that accurate, but it was at least a start, especially for when it was tooled.
  7. Don't have a way to post it right now, and I think I bought it about 1992 at a shop in Ontario when I visited with a friend up there. I drove a Malibu wagon and put over 325,999 miles on it with only one engine change at 190,000 miles. All this with a 229 v-6 that most Chevy people said were good for 75,000 miles at best.
  8. I got mine before Randy opened his retail store, but it was worth getting and someone would have to come up with about 5 Aurora 1/16th scale dragster parts kits including a Speed Shop before I would trade it away, To me it is that good!
  9. JC, I was wondering if the AMT Indy Car tires from the kits they did in the early 90's would be wide enough for this? I don't have easy access to one of those kits without digging a bunch of others out first or I would take some measurements for you. Just a thought.
  10. tonye66 and KWT, how come you didn't list the fact you wanted a Baretta Pro Street? I could have traded you each one and got something I needed! LOL. I still would have had 3 left plus a couple of the Dobbertin kits. Amazing what you find when you are digging for other kits. Saw your posts and had to smart off about each of them. And I could have made it real easy for each of you. I need two of the Revell '64 Impala kits. Now if you posted that you wanted the Baretta kit, can I use the excuse that I am old since I just had a birthday??? LOL
  11. Wonder if they are doing this for a reset of new kits and the ones not on clearence??
  12. It all has to do with the one thing I never liked Shelby for, Corporate greed! A company could do a perfect replica for us modelers, but if they were not willing to cough up enough dollars Shelby's response was NO. Kind of like Snake, when approached to allow decals of his car to go with Monogram models, Nope!. Yet Mongoose did alllow them. Went from a Snake fan to a Mongoose fan for life after I approached Snake's licensing legal team and not even for myself, just to be able to buy them from a reputable decal manufactuer in '89. Got rid of every Snake merchandise piece I had after that and never bought one since. Got all the Mongoose decals for kits I could after that, and sold every Snake piece I had. Was a die-hard fan of Snake until then. Now just as soon see him go belly-up for all I care as far as licensencing items. Wanted to see a matched pair of haulers and funniy cars, but now will settle for only a Mongoose hauler since I have a few of the Funny Cars. As far as Snake and Shelby kits, have to be no more than current kit prices now, won't even pay 10 % more. Mongoose hauler, ?? Let me know how much and I will try to find out a way to buy it!! Don't ya just love licence fees? socal76
  13. True, the slicks stick out too far, but that is still the only kit to have that hood. And yet nobody has repopped the hood in resin to this day that I am aware of.
  14. Tom, only 20 minutes?? Took me a lot longer than that and I don't have near as many friends as you!!
  15. I can't remember where I saw the post, but the other members of DRAG were attempting to help fulfil all orders as time permits between their own orders and helping Paul out. Having only purchased a few of SMBC parts at shows, all I have are quite nice castings. Allow a bit of patience due to the circumstances and I am sure you will be happy when the parts do arrive.
  16. JC, you ought to send the body off to HRM for casting and then start on the Mustang for Kemp to go along with this. I don't know about you or even if it is all that accurate, but I like the look of the Gunze kit of Kemp's car.
  17. Marlow, May I ask how you filled the gap in the center of the roof? That is the type of work with a diecast that stops me from even trying. The main reason I am asking is I have a nice '64 Impala wagon that matches the revell version perfectly but is too wide. Trying to figure out the best way to narrow it to the correct width, so the body could be cast.
  18. Those were offered by Otaki in 1/24th scale and also some B.F. Goodrich tires. I think Arii later released them in different packaging. Not exactly cheap now though.
  19. Much nicer than the die-cast will be!
  20. Johnt671, you will not be disappointed in Replica's and Miniatures products. I have been buying his stuff for almost 25 years now.
  21. GaryR, hopefully one of his new bodies might be a '29 Roadster pick-up body. Would go great with Revell's Roadster and Coupe kits.
  22. Mustang and slusher, go to some of the doll house websites and you can find a lot of stuff in 1/2inch scale. That is 1/24th scale to us. I know I have seen both the disco ball and lava lamp but cannot remember which site. I started looking while I was doing my 1/24th scale pool table! I have everythng done except the pool cues. Still trying to figure out those, but it seems to come down to a toothpick and a lot of careful sanding or find a machinst with some spare time and boredom!
  23. Mike, wasn't that offered by Scale Dreams resin which was only around about '84-'85? They did the Corvette Nomad and another trans-kit I can't recall right now. Might not even been called Scale Dreams but they were in one of the modeld mag's back then.
  24. I think Replicas & Miniatures of MD used to offer it. Not sure if they still do or not.
  25. Only thing I could think of and have not tried it myself, is to test a scrape piece with Comet. Otherwise you have the best method I know of.
