  1. I have started to apply some primer and engines are coming together.
  2. I'm impressed. I've had the privilege of seeing the 1:1 car in person and would certainly say that it is a most worthy topic. I'll be following this with interest. I'm especially interested in how you approach the grill construction. Keep us posted.
  3. The maroon Cabriolet in lower right hand corner is what I have in mind. I was thinking about brown with black fenders and straw wheels alternately.
  4. I am impressed with your work on this one, not just the quality but the speed of the build also. Very nice.
  5. Yss all of mine are dark maroon plastic. It does seem to be a very nicely proportioned model. I especially like the wheels which seem greatly superior to the AMT wheels.
  6. Thanks for all the compliments folks. This was a tough but very gratifying model. I think there may be some sort of show in April somewhere in the Midwest (anybody know? ) and I hope to debut the car there.
  7. I agree that a stock reissue would be most welcome. I am planning to do this mostly out of the box with only minimal engine wiring and plumbing and mayhap adding brake rods. For the Cabriolet I am thinking Coach maroon with black fenders red wheels, saddle colored leather and tan top. This is lots of color but era correct. Personally I prefer blackwall tires but may go with double whites if that is confirmed by my research photos. Thanks for all your eencouragement folks. This will be a fun project.
  8. I agree with your observations about the Auburn Cord Duesenberg Museum but I actually saw the car during the Labor day weekend Parade of Classics. Fra nk Kleptz drove car 2375/ J354 in unfinished form through the streets of Auburn giving me a chance to photograph the car in ways I never could have done at another time. I took tons of photos which were great references later on. You can see why I felt like I HAD to build the car.
  9. I still have some touch up to do under here but this gives you a good idea of the undercarriage.
  10. Engine passenger side with scratch built manifold.
  11. Thanks all oF you for the compliments. Here are a couple more photos.
  12. I hop it it complete, though I have almost none of the custom stuff. We'll see!
  13. This is a very old Monogram kit. I'm going to build it (gasp) bone stock.
  14. Just under one year ago I posted this build as it was the closest model I had in the "need to complete " stack. If you haven't followed my WIP thread, I can tell you this was the most challenging model I have ever built. The body from the cowl back and beltline up is almost completely scratch built. The interior is entirely scratch built. I wanted to build a model J Duesenberg with the earlier style updraft carburetor, as the car had on it when i saw it at Auburn so I had to scratch build that and the exhaust manifold. I fully wired, plumbed the car and added brake master cylinder and the associated lines. By far the most difficult aspect of the build was the three dimensional beltline molding. Still to do is adding windshield wipers and license plates. I also have to touch up some paint and clear coat some small areas. Despite this, I am calling this one done. Your comments are welcome. mi
  15. And a photo of the rear.
  16. I know I said no more WIP photos but I am close but no cigar on the finished product. I am not happy with the appearance of the headlight assembly and still have to mount the spare tires, make windshield wipers, add the running board supports, build a radio antenea and come up with some license plates. Anybody know of a source for 1932 Indiana license plates out there? Other than that we're done. Oh yeah. Most importantly the hood ornament needs to be installed.
  17. Here we have what I hope will be the last WIP photos in this thread. After a final fitting of the radiator shell and assembly of the lights we should be about done. The last big challenge will be fabricating the wipers. I set a deadline for myself of being done before this thread turned one year old. I think I will make it.
  18. I finally got the body glued down, sidemount carriers are in place and some final details done on the trunk. I think two or three evenings and I will have it wrapped up.
  19. Finally I have the interior in the car. While there remain a few tweaks to complete before I can glue it down I am awfully close now.
  20. I think it is going to be a dual cowl Phaeton.
  21. I had some issues with the steering wheel dashboard interface. You can probably see in this photo that I'm not yet there 100% but i think i have a solution. Here's the photo of the car mock-up. Glass and interior are the next pieces to be installed.
  22. You can make anything. Time and patience my friend...and a ton of filler!
  23. My five year old is never a problem. She can't wait to start model making. Any suggestions on a good model to start with? We have no cats!
