  1. So I have a couple newbie to street rodding questions. First, I an thinking about either Flathead Ford power or OHV Cadillac power. I know that I have seen resin 49 Cadillac engines bud don't know where to buy one. The same applies to '37 Ford photoetch grill pieces. I am sure that I have seen one somewhere but have no idea where. Finally, does any know of a source for the teardrop headlamps that would go on the front of this? Thanks.
  2. I am going to respectfully disagree. The most important part of the hobby is having fun and this thing has it in spades. Very cool, creative and halariously fun build.
  3. You are off to a great start. Could I suggest sort of a metallic root beer color?
  4. I have never really built a rod from my imagination. Your sage advice helps a lot. I like the flathead idea but somehow see it on large diameter rims with low profile tires. We'll see. I'm going to sort of let it "talk to me" and see what it says. I actually have very little of it so I may scratch build a lot of it and see how it comes out. I very much agree with the advice to check it for squareness and to get all the old putty out of it. As for a rear window I am sort of playing with the idea of a split window treatment. I'm open to other ideas.
  5. Here is my meager offering of finished builds for this year. While not as productive as many of you it was a good year for me.
  6. I would be happy to churn out just one of these beauties let alone all of then. What is the secret of your productivity?
  7. Not a lot to add to what the others have said. I like this a LOT. great modeling and photography skills here.
  8. I was at a swap meet and saw this in a pile of cast off parts. For some reason I just couldn't walk away without it. The seller gave it to me for free with the only stipulation that I show him the model if I ever get something done with it. What do you all think?
  9. I too am very interested in this one. I built an AMT version that wasn't too bad when I was a teenager but would like to try a better kit assembled with better skills. Your model is looking great so far.
  10. Foxer, No offense taken at all. I agree with you that thinning out the "blob" areas would help out a lot. I will work at it a bit more and see if I can improve upon the effect. I l really appreciate the feedback. Eric
  11. Oh, we still will have an interest all right. Take care of you and we will eagerly await your return.
  12. Three steps forward and two steps back. I plan to resume finishing this one once my Metro van is done.
  13. I am making some good progress. The exterior is pretty much finished though I still have to add a couple mirrors and a license plate. The wipers were scratch built and came out pretty well in my opinion. I now have to turn my attention to the interior.
  14. Excellent building, especially in this scale. I wish it was mineĆ·
  15. I agree with the others. This is one to be proud of. Great colors and foil work.
  16. Stunning just doesn't seem to do justice to this model. I agree, it really is amazing to me how fast and beautifully you churn these out. Great choice of color by the way.
  17. I too built one of these as a kid and still consider it one of my all time favorite models. I think it was the first model I built that I really thought looked like the box photos when I was done with it. I'll look forward to seeing what you do with this one.
  18. To say you have a solid start is a true understatement...of course we know what you did with the 26 T so I am really interested in what you do for an encore.
  19. That I understand. A speedy recovery to you.
  20. I have been occupied by life lately but tonight I had a little bench time. I have the chassis pretty well done and now I am working on interior design and details. This is the latest mock-up. Not to sound self absorbed here but I am really liking where this is going.
  21. I too have to express my well wishes for you, and I know that your mate too was dealing with some big challenges. Know that you have many friends who are rooting for you and your mate. While model building is the glue that ties many of us otherwise strangers together your well being is the primary concern. And...have you thought about making those Pilot Rays functional? Hope that earned a chuckle.
  22. I am really enjoying this one. If you haven't already thought about it may I suggest you consider adding a smoking kit and vanity along each of the rear interior sail panels. This was a common big luxury car accessory. In my Model 137 Franklin Limousine there is a kit on the passenger side with a cigar lighter and a vanity complete with a mirror for milady on the drivers side. Just an idea in the for whatever it's worth department. Please keep us posted.
  23. I have two collections, one for display and another for my girls to play with. One day they can divide up the display cars and decide what they want to do with them.
  24. I like it . It is pretty neat to see all the 4 doors that are showing up on the forum. Keep it up.
