  1. Perezky you evil man. I just looked up Tomy cars. You are correct. Those are very nicely done and would look great as an addition to my Matchbox collection. More to buy I guess!
  2. It is indeed another rabbit hole in terms of collecting. My goal today is to just get all 75 mint with boxes. That is proving neither cheap nor easy. I too have restored and added details to a couple of mine.
  3. Ron, I like your concept of completion of stillborns as a resolution for the new year. I don't think I can completely join you as I have so many to finish but I do have two in particular that needs to see light of day this year. For those I'll join you. Thanks for leading the charge! I like the model you have selected as a starting point.
  4. One can only imagine the reaction this car received on the road. Fantastic subject and execution. Can you tell us more about the building of it?
  5. That came out of the MPC 29 Ford Model A woody kit. I have other plans for the rest of the kit. Thanks for all your compliments folks.
  6. Schwinn banana seat bike! 1:24 scale
  7. This must sound weird but somehow I didn't even realize this kit was out there. That will help with the Montego project a lot. Does the kit have a manual transmission option? Thanks.
  8. I am curious about what you are using for a chassis. I have a bit of a vested curiosity as I have a 72 Montego GT transkit and have been wondering what to use for a base. Thanks
  9. I would be happy with half of either of your productivity or quality. You have both!
  10. Dr. Kerry, yes that is inspiration. I like the backlight on that one. As an update I bought a couple items that should enhance the car considerably, a Cadillac OHV engine and a Muncie 4 speed transmission (IMHO anything with even remotely sporty aspirations including ALL street rods and ALL sports cars must have manual gearboxes. Just saying. ) Anyway, given that part of the idea of a street rod is to go fast as well as look cool, and I am building this as I would build the 1:1 for myself., it has manual transmission. I am also thinking I may put a Columbia rear end under it also. Maybe Lincoln brakes? I think I can get a hold of a cool dash, maybe from a Duesenberg or Auburn or perhaps 31 V-16 Cadillac.
  11. Dr. Kerry, yes that is inspiration. I like the backlight on that one.
  12. Here's the Zephyr.
  13. Tell me what you think of this. The idea is the backlight will sort of mirror the profile of the side windows. I agree- it is pretty flat in back I want something more like the 41 Zephyr coupe next to this one.
  14. This is my kind of model. I agree that the final product was worth all the effort.
  15. Way down the rabbit hole!
  16. Down the rabbit hole.
  17. I decided to do a little bit more with this project. While I could go ahead and paint the top I am trying to decide if I want to fix a small blemish above the rear fender. That might be easy...or might lead down the rabbit hole of redoing the whole body. I am open to your thoughts.
  18. Just so everyone knows I am not just doing a public pen pals posting here. I had a day off work and started with some rough sanding with 320 wet or dry. Wow does this thing sand hard! I'm starting to wonder if the original builder used melted down sprue for filler. It is certainly well assembled so far. I also find that the original builder was no slouch wit regard to fitting a wide assortment of parts together. Have a look at how the halves of this front fender meet. I'm not sure what I am going to end up with but feel encouraged so far.
  19. There's an intriguing idea. I have always liked the looks of the '38, particularly the Standard. This does have sort of a squatty front end so that might work. I assume that I would be into a lot of scratch building with that idea eh? Or are there photoetch grill kits for a '38 out there too?
  20. I agree that the majority is 40 but it is the 37 front end that makes it flow...that and the really cool chop to the top.
  21. I really appreciate the comments guys. As for the Packard it is a Franklin Mint '34 Convertible Sedan modified from scratch by me...not my most successful job so far but I intend to keep at it. Rather sheepishly I have to admit that the Lincoln is painted with Testo rs rattle can dark red over DupliColor red rattle can primer. Not the most suphistocate job but it worked. I rubbed it out with McGuire ' s clear plastic polish, intended for convertible top rear windows. The van is the All American Models resin kit with the a bunch of parts box items to complete the model.
  22. Thanks for the info. That should help. Anybody want to unload a couple teardrop headlamps?
  23. Nothing not to like on this one. Great choice of colors also.
  24. Thanks guys. The '26 Fordor was by far the most challenging of the set though the foil work on the Lincoln was quite a job also. There were several more that I wanted to see complete but did not get there this year. At the top of the list is the Duesenberg Judkins Victoria that has been on my workbench for over a decade, closely followed by the '30 Cord L-29 that has been an ongoing project for (and I am not kidding ) over 35 years. Then there's the '34 Packard Dietrich and the rest of the Improved Ford set from '26-7. And now I add the '30 something Ford Coupe street rod project that I find myself oddly intrigued with. Lots to do.
  25. I too have a couple like this. 32 Duesenberg and the 30 Cord.
