  1. Cato, Nice to see you are back at it. I agree, the mild chop to the top should help the appearance of this one considerably. Good to have you back. E-
  2. I would echo the post Maxx just offered, particularly the ScaleKraft offerings. Duesenberg transkits...please!!!
  3. Harry, that interior is really nice on yours. Dee Cee...you have succeeded! It is indeed different!
  4. Never once have I considered the difference in scale between 1:24 and 1:25. Monogram has always had a superior line of models, based on my interests (Classics and factory stock Fords), so the vast majority of my models have been Monograms, with Heller,, JoHan and MPC offerings following right behind. Had other companies like AMT or Tamiya had better selection as it fit with my interests I may have bought more of their products. Now, 1:24 or 1:25 versus 1:32 or 1:35 scale...that's a different story. That's my 2 cents worth. Eric
  5. In my "for whatever it's worth department" I would suggest a non-metallic gray for a car of this era. To my eye it just never looks right. I love the work you are doing so far. Very high quality job. E-
  6. I have a little different take on the collecting kits vs. building kits perspective. While I am first and foremost a builder, and indeed I have intentions of building every kit I buy, over time I have realized I enjoy the kit almost as much as I enjoy the building process and the finished product. If I die before I build them all my estate will sell the models off to the rest of you and there will be more unbuilt models for the rest of you to enjoy.
  7. This is one amazing build. the hardware for the spare tire is an impressive model all by itself.
  8. Cool idea of the rear mount for the spare...or will it be spares? Dual rear mount spares would make the car look oh so long and lean! Keep up the postings. One other thought-the kit is a convertible cabriolet. Any thoughts around making it a roadster instead? It would mean a phaeton windshield and a little different work behind the driver's compartment but could be pretty slick!
  9. I love these old Classics. I have this kit from years ago and felt it was just fantastic. I especially like the brown leather look in the chauffer's compartment. Beautiful model! I agree with Harry-neat to have two '33 Cadillacs to compare! Eric
  10. I like these a LOT. Nice to see them built up stock.
  11. Oh when I say "junk Caddy" I mean this one was a restoration also. It looked a tad bit worse than the fine model Landman is working on. I am trying to say, there is hope, even when you start out with junk. E-
  12. That '58 is awesome! Use an entire sheet of Baremetal foil on that one did you?
  13. It looks good from a distance!
  14. My humble contribution to this subject.
  15. Here is what I did with my junk Cadillac restoration. It can be done.
  16. I have always liked the colors on Bill's car a lot. I don't remember seeing the blue car at St. Johns (what does that tell you?) but from the photos it is a real honey. Personally I would go with the gray. You have a great project going here.
  17. First of all, thanks for sharing the photo. Art is correct. What we have here is a '17-21 Touring car with later style demountable rims (probably from a '26 or 27 based upon the size of them). While it is a bit hard to tell, based upon the 3 window rear curtain, two man top, lack of a front splash apron, early style body and non-crowned fenders this is probably about a 1917-1919 with slightly later front fenders (note the deeper skirting than the early fenders but no crown). It may even be a car assembled from parts but certainly a good restoration candidate. So, does the car still exist?
  18. It looks like you are on the set of Mad Men with this one. As others have said...stunning.
  19. Not only could I not do better...I did not do better when I built my Heller Bentley at age 40. Kate's blows mine away. VERY well built model! Keep up the great work Kate!
  20. That looks right on. Well done! I can't wait to see the finished product. E-
  21. You have to be getting close Art. Let's see the newest updates! E-
  22. Art is doing a wonderful job on this one. It really looks the part. I particularly like the exhaust whistle. Neat. If anyone is even thinking about doing a Model T, this is the kit do it with.
  23. Here is how it looks after I made the repairs.
  24. So I have been a bit quiet about this build for a little while. Here is why. I got a little discouraged after using some liquid masking material and then having a real issue getting the BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH back off. Have a look.
  25. The chassis still needs a coat of Future to bring out the shine. Perhaps the color is not coming through very well but it actually is more of an olive green which is how the 1-1 car is painted. Right now I am sanding and priming then will be moving my attention to an interior. I decided to do all my interior fitting before painting the body so I don't scratch up topcoat.
