I use either Elmer's white glue or Crafter's Pick (Acrylic "super glue")...the crafter's Pick is stronger and takes handling and mock up batter than the Elmer's...just drop the parts in warm water after to remove the glue and follow up with some Comet and a tooth brush to remove residue that may still be there.
  3. Awesome build. As a former tech, I DESPISED the Probe as a passenger vehicle, but they did make neat looking Pro Stocks. I agree with the others: let's release some Dzus fasteners and have a peek under the hood at the bullet...

I'd really like to build a replica of the 71 I used to have a lifetime ago -340 Auto painted B2 blue (Faded to a near bluish silver) with a white buckets-console interior and a steady rotation of soon to be perma-bald G60 15's out back mounted to a set of slotted police rims with dog dish caps. Sadly, no pictures but it would be easy to build with the right kit/body; really, the correct body with the bumpers and grille would be enough since there's more than enough resources for kitbashing a Demon.
  6. I'm not sure which I like better; The color choice and that awesome wood grain, or the pictures of you opening a sealed JoHan box with the intention of building what's inside. I too choose to build what others collect, so I'm with you on this one. Great job so far!
  7. Awesome! Awesome! Awesome! I have always wanted to build a Tijuana Taxi...definitely NOT with the BBC that Gapp and Roush used for set up and testing, though. I also had a 73 that I got from my Grandfather and drove for 21 years, sadly sending it to the shredder due to structural rust this spring. I'll be in for 2...it looks fantastic!
  8. ...Great News...I've been planning to build this for a while. Now, all I have to do is find a Fuel Injected Corvette kit with an accurate looking engine (or at least an accurate fuel injection setup) to drop in the Deuce and I can await its release...

  11. Very nice job on those decals. One small thing though...you might want to check on the colour of the borders and drop shadow around the numbers; I *Believe* they were almost always a dark blue but are represented as black on most decal sheets due to reference photos being mostly black and white and the actual shade of blue used was dark enough to appear near black in colour photos taken at a distance. The shade of blue is close to what the pettys used on their suspension components.

Yeah, there's plenty of NA$CAR in the wilds of Manitoba- especially my place- but, my video archives end in the late 70's/early 80's with the introduction of radials.I haven't watched a MASSCAR race in 13 years. The money has gotten out of hand- even our local dirt guys pull two car enclosed trailers with a highway tractor now...we used to pull with a 1/2 ton and a homebuilt (Read: Sketchy.) open trailer and hope we made enough to get home...

I got this much done due to a blown out knee and time off work, but my woman is encouraging me to spend MORE time in the cave so I'll keep on motoring. RATNASTY: PM me here or at Randy's and I can hopefully answer any questions you have. I'm NO EXPERT; just a former racer/Crew Chief of Dirt Mopars and a former tech with a quarter century of dirty hands and skinned knuckles.Some guys over there actually OWN these cars, so their advice is worth more than mine in accuracy. IBORG: There are 2 museum K&K Insurance cars out there...the "Cheated Up" land speed/former GN Daytona and a 1969 Tunnelback Charger. The tunnelback was actually a 1967 car that the current owner apparently "Restored" (Actually; Rebodied...) because he liked the look of the 69 over the 67. The cage, chassis and dash are all 67 pieces.That car would be a good source of info. PM me and I can see if I can put my pictures on a CD for you and send it out. I think I have over 400 assorted Mopar reference shots. Your car would have a different K-member due to the wet sump engine in 67...different shaped pan and K-Member. A 67 Petty cage is different from a Nichels cage and those dimensions are covered in Bill Coulter's book on building model stock cars (...as well as a LOT of errors- that's where the research comes in.) That being said, I can help anyone who asks to the best of my knowledge or ability. I'm no expert; I just enjoy building accurate Grand National Stock Car Replicas.
  14. I recently began this project and after a few weeks of fabrication I have a basic mock up completed of the major components like the cage and chassis. I'm using a Revell Pro Modeler kit with PPP wheels. The future holds paint code matched Charger red and Yesterday's Decals, but there's still LOTS of scratchbuilding to go. I'll put up more pics in the near future as more gets done. Here's the link to more pictures... ( 13/06/12)New additions...I put up some more pictures of some detail parts and sub assemblies. I haven't the time as of late to spend on fixing up the quality of the newest pictures, but you can get the idea of what's going on. Detail painting will of course make everything much clearer. I had to make a new rear end when the 1st hit the floor and snapped an axle tube. The dash may have to go as well, but I'll decide when it's painted.   16. Well done! Those kits weren`t the pinnacle of detail back then , but you`ve done a great job of making one into something cool. The memories you have of initially building it with your dad are priceless. I wish I still had the models I built with my dad as a kid.
  17. Do you mean the Mallory "Dragmaster" style coil? They are squared off on all of the edges and are fairly easy to build from styrene if you can't find any in resin. Unfortunately my camera with pictures of my scratchbuilt coil is at my woman's house so I can't show you the finished product. Use on online catalog like "Jeg's" for reference pictures of a 1:1 coil...

  19. Glad I could help. This was just a trial run of the DOH kit to see how well it could be converted to a proper GN car. It is a "What If" project with my name on the door! If I do another, I'l completely scratchbuild the floor/chassis....the kit parts are just too far off in their dimensions.
  20. If you're patient, the DOH seat can be converted to an A100/Cotton Owens seat with some modification...I did this one for my Stock Car conversion of the DOH kit. Now to find 1/16 Belts.   21. Scale realism is important to me for my builds: resin ignition coils or CD modules that are closer to the size of tackle boxes in 1:1 look out of place to me- no matter how well they're cast. Vent window posts that haven't been thinned to a more realistic size also stand out for me.Plug wires that scale out to the size of heater hoses and aftermarket fasteners that are way too big catch my eye. I would never criticize another's build for the presence of these details; I just concentrate on my builds not having them. We all build to our strengths and tastes and should have fun while doing it and not worry about what others may think...unless you build for shows.
  22. Irregular shift work pokes at existing bouts of insomnia...it's 0229 right now! I Try my best to keep it down as well, but there Times I really have to fight the need to fire up the Dremel. My cave is a spare bedroom beside ours and the walls are thin...
