Anyone know if there is a kit tire that is more accurate than the hard plastic tires in the kit .? I looked at he wide whites in the 55 300 kit and the height is not even close The actual car had some wide white walls on it with the firestone lettering clearly legible. Just wondering as this kit is on my short to do list maybe later this year -
I've used the flocking in the past but it always came out clumpy and never cared for the result. I just tried embossing powder for the 1st time a few weeks ago. And am so much happier with the look. My local Micheals has it,,but in limited color choices. So I may try online to see if I can widen my color options,,the multipacks looks promising. http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_c_0_22?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=hampton%20art%20embossing%20powder&sprefix=hampton+art+embossing+%2Carts-crafts%2C981

I buy , fix and resell cars so my daily driver changes on a regular basis.I just sold my quad cab Dakota, and before it was a 1998 Ford SVT, I also had a 1995 Ford Contour with a 2.5 V6 and 5 spd,,,those cars were a blast to drive and super easy to resell . I would love to have another SVT Contour Currently driving a 2005 Grand Caravan I bought to fix and flip. As for my daily driver next week or next month, who knows

With the warm weather bench time is getting limited. But I have been tinkering with this one some I did a mockup to see how it sits and I like it ,,,a lot . Engine is done and glued in the chassis . Front suspension is done and all glued together. Rear axle is just stiiting in place to ck ride height. I have to say,,this is probably the best engineered kit I have ever worked on. Everything fits exaclty like its supposed to,,although the instructions could be a little better on some of the details . But overall I'm impressed . I will be starting the BMF work soon. The birthday of the 1/1 cars owner is next month. and this will be given to him ,,so It has to be finished before then . Thanks for cking it out,,,, and All Comments welcome.

Wipers were added on after these pictures were taken. ....basically the night before I gave it to the owner of the actual car it replicates. Thanks all for the kind words. I really appreciate it. I was real happy with how it came out..and the owner was simply overwhelmed

Does anyone know what kit?
gtx6970 replied to slusher's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
The 58 Impala kit I just picked up has a chrome crankshaft in it. -
Agreed. But the amt/mpc Daytona kit can be built into a decent looking car with some work. Just cut the bottom of the fender off and mold the valance in,,,just like they did on the real car. Although I haven't built one of them. To me the Revell Daytona the door scallops are far to pronounced for my liking when compared to the real car

A simply stunning build. and I really like it, ,,,,,,,,,can I have it ? There was a builder hardtop and a vert on the 'bay this week, My toy fund is way down so I had to pass them up. The hardtop got crazy money,,,but the vert sold for much less than I would have gone,, But I just couldn't do it this time.

If your after something close to OE. TA hoods were painted in Organsol. Which is a very low gloss black ( not a true flat black but very close ) And it has a texture to it. . IMO to acheive this on your last spray past hold the can way back and just mist it on -
Creepy might be a tad harsh.,,,But I dont see the point of the women in the ad. He's selling models cars ,,not Tee shirts

I rarely buy new releases anymore . But when I do, I try to buy at my local hobby shop as much as possbile. When talking to the shop owner,,,he told me If there was something I wanted and could give him a few days notice and he could get me most anything I wanted and similar to online prices. But for the better part of the past 6 months I have been buying old annuals, and thay have all been off ebay We do havea show / swap coming up next month and I'll try to get a few there if something catches my eye in regards to high postage costs outside the country. I just sent a padded mail with nothing but parts in in the Denmark. It weighed less than 3 oz's. and it was almost $7 I had a complete / unbuilt kit boxed up and took it to the post office for a real time estimate to ship it to Canada,,right at $14

Not so sure about the red wheels,,but otherwise I think this option would look pretty good. I just picked up a 59 Bonneville ( mine is a convertible though ) so I am gonng keep any on any color options that may come this way That tri tone interior would be tough I also just picked up a builtup 1960 Bonnie vert thats all silver with red interior that I may just leave as is -
Posting pics of a real car..isn't fair. But wow. That's nice
