  1. I dont know of anyone doing a 1/24th scale steel wheel or redline
  2. If the toy funds has cash,, I buy what I want. Price is secondary. I may shop around and buy where its cheapest ,,but if I can I will support my local hobby shop,,even if he's a buck or 2 higher. But to be honest there isnt a a whole lot the past few years screaming at me to buy it . I was just re-organizing this past weekend and realized most of my stash still have price tags on them and there are lots that was $4.95 to $6.95 ea . So its not like I dont have anything to build I've been buying more old long discontinued kits lately than anything else . I think the only recent releases I've bought the past year is the 70 Cuda. Otherwise its been old annuals ,,mostly late 50's and early 60's builtups .
  3. I have one all polished out and its super slick,,,, but now do I need to do anything special to make sure the BMF sticks to the body ? I used TurtleWax was brand polishing compound , followed by a rubbing down with wizards brand polish and sealent it it makes any difference ? WOW,,,, does black look good all slick and shiney
  4. Managed to get a little building done over the weekend . Tires / wheels are ready . Engine is nearly finished . All the glass is in and the interior tub and chassis went in the body for the last time . Engine is painted with the exact same paint the 1/1 cars engine will be. And I used a MAD pre-wired dist . No way will my eyes let me drill and wire my own anymore . Red line tires are from the parts box,,,,not sure what kit they came from ,,maybe Revell Dart ? A member here sent me a set of the decals I needed. Thanks again for that. Its getting real close to be done now
  5. I spent the day yesterday cleaning up and organzing the model bench and storage area downstairs. When I came across a hood I couldnt indentify. After some digging around I thought it was an early 60s car,,maybe a Johan piece. So I started diggin in the stash ,,,, and dug out a 1960 Desoto I picked up years ago as a partial bultup ,,,thought it looks pretty close. Sure enough the hood fits ,,,. I have no idea when or where I got the hood . But ,,, Now I have a complete one to build later on Anyone else stumble on a part or kit you didnt know you had ?
  6. very nice,,paint looks wet
  7. 3 right now. a 1958 Pontiac Bonneville , a 1955 Chrysler 300 and a 1968 Charger . All 3 are close, waiting on chrome for the Pontiac, need clear for the 300 so I can polish it out a start assembly and the Charger I just need to button up some little details and its done. Pontiac is for me,,the other 2 will be given to the owners of the 1/1 cars as gifts I have a 1962 Dodge Blairs Speed Shop stocker I started but wasnt happy with the finish so I shelved it till I decide how I want to procede ( trying to decide to put more clear on it and polish it and see if I can save it ,,,,,or in the strip tank to start over ?????? )
  8. Gotta ask......what the %$×@ is a rocket bunny?
  9. Some really neat ideas and conceptions here.
  10. I think it's just side emblems. Tail lights and the headlight surrounds. Not 100% sure if any other differences. A good friend of mine has a Black 1/1 1958 300D convertible I would love to replicate someday
  11. Like I mentioned earlier in this thread, I like them all. IF its done in good taste and the subject idea works well as a whole ..the donks and such ,,not so much . Also, I personally am not a huge fan of the cars slammed on the ground,,even i its on airbags . Irregardless of the body style or workmanship. BUT,,,,, I can appreciate the work involved to get it to that point.
  12. Depends on how many I have of the same kit at home. If I have multiples of the same or siimilar kit. Most times its stays sealed to help prevent parts robbing If its new to me, it gets opened in the parking lot most times. ....In the post office parking lot if its a mail order +/or Ebay purchase
  13. Thanks for the quick reply. Makes sense why I never heard of it before this.
  14. Never heard of this till today. Was this a real car and not just a made up prop piece for a TV show ? Any kit reviews , is it a quality car once built ,I am curious
  15. If only I could get Scarlett Johanson to 'trade me shirts ' ...that would be a dream come true
  16. John, that dash looks amazing,,,,, I will keep that trick in mind for later on. Anyway,,,I pulled the trigger and just order resin replacements from Modelhaus today. So i'll work on polishing the paint and BMF work in the next week or so . I am so wanting this one done . Later on when I get enough to do a full rack,,I'll send the originals out to be plated
  17. Anyone get one of these yet. Am curious what the decal sheet looks like
  18. A small update on this one. . I tried the bare metal foil under paint trick,,, and I am amazed it turned out this good . The emblems were almost non existant ,,,yet after a light going over with a tooth pick dipped in laquer thinner,,then just a light going over with rubbing compund , I can actually read the lettering sitting on the desk . It sold me and may do them all this way from now on . Still undecided on how to do the bumpers ,,,alclad spazstick or send them out for plating. Need to pick up a polishing kit to finish out the paint work,,then the job of bare metal floil begins. I am trying to take my time on this one,,but its looks so good its making it tough to put down.. comments welcome .
  19. Thanks all. I was worried about BMF sticking to it after polishing .. I picked up a lighted mirror yesterday so this weekend out comes the polishing materials and BMF supplies I have a 58 Pontiac and a 55 Chrysler 300 to do ,,both cars are black and would really look a lot better if I can get them glass smooth
  20. It sure looks good . I would love to see someone make a 1958 300D conversion for this kit
  21. Before or after polishing the paint. ? Or does it matter one way or the other its laquer if it matters I've got 2 bodies painted that are going to require A LOT of BMF work and I would like to polish the paint out some to get a smoother finish .
  22. to funny, thats the exact same thought i had . as for the tattoo no thanks
  23. I have a mint Fred Cady sheet to do the 1969 Coronet Superbee and the R/T stripes doubt I'll ever use it .
  24. I tried Bi-focals once,,hated them and i'm not going back there . I do wear glasses mainly to drive and such,,but usually take them off when doing closeup work or reading or at the model bench . . But lately even reading fine print on paint cans is getting tough Going out this afternnoon and may stop by hobby lobby and/or Micheals to see whats avail
  25. Maybe its just because I am getting older. But I've finally come to the conclusion I need one of them fancy lighted maginifier thingys . Attempting to do some bare metal foil work this morning and I am having a hard time seeing it close up enough to get good clean edge. So , I am looking for ideas . Which one do you have ,,,and why is it better than the rest . I am thinking the one that you wear like a ball cap ( for mobility issues ) . Or is the desk mounted variety better ?
